    Senior Recruitment Officer (North West)

    Purpose of Role

    • To provide comprehensive recruitment services to hiring managers to ensure a streamlined and efficient recruitment process. Provide support in the development of a pool of qualified candidates, by collaborating with the recruitment team, conducting interviews, and contributing to the company's diversity initiatives, to source top industry talent, managing client relationships, and implementing innovative recruiting approaches.

    Role Context

    Recruitment and Selection Management

    • Collaborate with the Hiring Managers so as to understand their recruitment needs and verify job requirements as indicated in the job descriptions, to ensure the accurate advertisement of available positions.

    RC Drilling Operator

    Purpose of Role

    • To conduct daily and weekly Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling operations, using RC drilling equipment according to procedure, to ensure well-fragmented drilled rocks. To work under supervision and report on work progress, ensuring operations meet set targets which support the production of quantity and quality geological samples to the planned drill depth.

    Role Context

    Compliance, Risk and Safety

    • Attend daily safety meetings (Toolbox talks) with the RC Drilling Foreman to discuss risk assessments prior to any drilling work being conducted, to identify and report any substandard conditions.
    • Participate in all safety initiatives and attend safety meetings to support identification and reporting of any safety hazards and unsafe work practices.
    • Participate in risk assessments, including checking safe usage of drilling equipment and proper usage of PPE, to support the maintenance of a safe working environment.
    • Support a safe work environment, by checking the RC Rig prior to starting operations, marking items according to the pre-checklist to ensure all safety measures are met.
    • Sign the Safety Declaration, together with the Foreman and RC Drilling team, prior to starting drilling operations, to indicate the block to be drilled has passed the safety inspection.
    • Check the block to be drilled is barricaded off prior to drilling to prevent injuries or accidents.

     RC Drilling Operations

    • Conduct RC drilling operations, in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols, priorities, and maintain high levels of productivity by efficiently completing drilling tasks within specified timeframes and achieving set targets.
    • Optimize drilling techniques to maximise drilling rates while maintaining accuracy and precision in sample collection.
    • Measure each drilled hole, using relevant equipment, to check holes are drilled to the correct depth according to the drill plan (depth counter and Rockma system).
    • Strictly adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the drill plan, during drilling operations to minimise accidents, injuries and equipment damage.
    • Employ proper drilling techniques and monitor sample integrity throughout the process to ensure the collection of high-quality samples.
    • Adhere to sample labelling and recording protocols to maintain accurate data for analysis.
    • Conduct regular quality control checks on drilling parameters and equipment performance to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    • Continuously observe and maintain the drilling cadence of the machine monitoring for drill chip quality, dust and inefficiency.
    • Plug holes and discard sample remains according to procedure, to support site rehabilitation. 
    • Remove rods upon drilling completion, ensuring there is no contamination or damage to other drill holes.   

    Resource Management

    • Determine resource needs within own area of responsibility to achieve individual role outcomes.
    • Request required assets and resources for the fulfilment of work duties to attain quality work outputs.
    • Use assets and resources optimally within own area of responsibility.
    • Inspect equipment, reporting on those reaching the end of their lifespan to management, to ensure proper functioning.

    Protection Services Manager

    Purpose of Role

    • To lead, manage and oversee the protection services operations and optimisation efforts in Tharisa Minerals (TM) by contributing to the development and implementation of strategy, policies, processes and protocols to minimise and mitigate risks related to the security of employees and company assets in alignment with TM’s policies and procedures whilst ensuring compliance with local and international security standards.

    Role Context

    Operational Management

    • Provide input to strategic plans of the section by compiling comprehensive operational plans, converting the Department into an enabler of the overall business strategy of the organisation.
    • Keep abreast of changes in relevant guidelines and other legislation, to make recommendations where policies, processes and/or procedures require amendment.
    • Develop, enhance and implement policies, processes and Operational procedures that are within the respective Department aimed at the enhancement of service delivery and overall productivity within the Department.
    • Co-develop and drive the implementation of comprehensive security strategies by creating security plans, risk assessment registers and develop contingency plans in alignment with the organisation’s goals and objective.
    • Oversee the development of risk assessments by driving the identification of threats and formulate strategies to manage the threats in order to create a safe and secure environment.
    • Develop and drive the implementation of plans and procedures by setting up effective investigation protocols to deal with organised crime and ensure collection and administration of court admissible evidence for submission.
    • Drive the recommendation, adoption and application of the Section 252A of the Criminal Procedure Act. To ensure an effective prevention, detection and investigation of crime and ensure all evidence gathered is admissible in court.  
    • Oversee the investigation of priority crimes by establishing effective partnership policing policies and procedures to ensure a reduction of priority crimes and therefore protecting company assets and interests.
    • Act as the main witness and administrator of all investigation dockets to validate and ensure submission of court admissible evidence in order to obtain prosecution in line with SA criminal law and TM’s policies and regulations.
    • Lead investigation into security incidents including theft, breaches, safety violations and misconduct by overseeing the gathering of evidence, conducting interviews and collaborating with law enforcement authorities to prosecute offenders.
    • Develop and manage crime intelligence analysis and reporting procedures to ensure effective and proper investigation of all priority crimes reported.

    Financial Management

    • Analyse all relevant Department data and report on Departmental trends and operating requirements so as to determine funding requirements for the financial year.
    • Monitor short-term Departmental budgets by scrutinising and aligning spend within the Department, to support and drive effective and efficient functioning within budgetary constraints.
    • Monitor Departmental expenditure against budget allocations, requesting appropriate reallocation as required, to manage the prevention of unnecessary spend.
    • Comply with all financial, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and other Tharisa Minerals (TM) regulations and policies by facilitating the right actions, to reduce financial risk in the Department.
    • Collate and coordinate the sourcing and utilisation of the budget for the department and ensure effective and efficient expenditure to maintain cost control in area of accountability.

    People Management

    • Create and maintain a conducive work environment by appropriately applying Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure optimum performance is realised for the benefit of the Department and, by extension, the organisation.
    • Lead the team according to TM’s leadership principles and values throughout the entire employee life cycle (performance management, reward etc) to ensure, inter alia, a high-performance culture.
    • Oversee day-to-day security operations and people management including the deployment and management of security personnel and resources to ensure performance standards are met.
    • Oversee the supervising of security staff, conduct performance evaluations to identify skills gap and recommend and influence training interventions and programmes to optimise performance and skills development.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the security team by enabling direct reports to manage the hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff performance to maintain a high level of security effectiveness.

    Process and Technology

    • Oversee the management of the TM technical aspects of the security operations including but not limited to the electronic room, CCTV operations, Digital Security Systems, Drone operations and Biometric systems.
    • Drive the monitoring and evaluation of existing security systems including surveillance cameras, access control systems (boom gate) and alarm systems to ensure effective utilisation and control protocols.
    • Lead the adoption and integration of new technology systems such as biometric systems and drone surveillance to ensure
    • Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies and best practice in mine protection and security to remain aware of syndicates and mitigate potential security risks.
    • Lead the development, monitoring and continuous evaluation of new strategies, protocols, tools and technologies and provide recommendations to enhance security operations and minimise risks.

    Requirements
    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma (NQF 6) in Safety Risk Management or equivalent

    Certifications:

    • PSIRA Grade A Certificate
    • Firearm competency certificate

    Job-specific experience:

    Surveillance Technician

    Purpose of Role

    • Surveillance Technician is responsible for installing, monitoring, repairing, and troubleshooting security systems. The duties and responsibilities include assessing the location’s current security system and recommending the appropriate upgrades or providing advice on how to develop systems for Protection Services Offices. To ensure CCTV infrastructure maintenance,configuration and testing of network devices.

    Role Context

    Operational Tasks

    • Proficient in installing and maintaining surveillance systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical issues and maintain.
    • Knowledge of network protocols and security standards.
    • Experience with CCTV, IP cameras, and DVR systems.
    • Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems and or/ equipment.
    • Position requires technician to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
    • Technician would be available to answer client calls after normal working hours on weekend/holidays depending on the rotation order.
    • Responsible for updating team lead on the status of all work performed daily.
    • Notify team lead of any materials needed to complete duties.
    • Perform additional Security Technician related functions as assigned by the team lead and deemed within the general skill and ability level of a productive Security Technician in the company.
    • Familiarity with local and state regulations related to surveillance.

    Protection Services Drone and Surveillance Supervisor

    Purpose of Role

    • The Protection Services Drone and Surveillance Supervisor will be responsible supervising, monitoring and operating the CCTV cameras and associated equipment in the CCTV Control Room. Managing associated alarms and call monitoring, ensure the safety and security of people and property within public areas and other facilities via surveillance of the CCTV network.

    Role Context

    Operational Tasks

    • Supervise the operations, monitor and operate the CCTV cameras and associated equipment in the CCTV Control Room
    • Follow protocols for maintaining the security of the CCTV Control Room and its facilities
    • Report any incidents that occur immediately to the Police Incident Control Room via a dedicated link, and/or report to other relevant agency and provide support/commentary to the Police and/or other relevant agency.

    • Participate in personal training and development in order to maintain understanding of current CCTV legislation and regulation
    • Assist the Police in respect of preparation of evidence and other activities associated with attendance at Court as a witness.
