    Graduate Engineer (ENG101)

    Job Description

    • The Picker is responsible for accurately selecting and preparing goods for despatch in a fast-moving consumer goods environment. The role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and adherence to health and safety standards. The Picker ensures that orders are fulfilled correctly, maintaining the integrity and quality of products throughout the picking process.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Utilities Engineer (EL Engineer)

    Job Purpose

    • To optimize the performance, safety, and efficiency of utility systems in the manufacturing process, ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential services such as power, water, and CO2. Supporting overall plant operations by minimizing downtime, reducing energy consumption, and upholding environmental and regulatory requirements, ultimately contributing to high-quality beverage production and cost-effective manufacturing.

    Key Accountabilities and Outputs

    Plant Reliability:

    • Ensure quality execution of Routine, Corrective, Preventative and Predictive maintenance
    • Lead the development of maintenance standard work instructions for utilities plant
    • Ensure problem solving tools are used by the team and take part in problem solving sessions
    • Lead the development of the reliability plan for utilities plant and ensure maintenance team has the required competencies

    Plant Optimisation:

    • Analyses plant performance data to identify opportunities for improvement to the plant performance
    • Implement cost saving projects in utilities. Evaluate and implement performance improvement suggestion projects in the area
    • Evaluate and sign off new equipment and all plant modifications
    • Identify opportunities for energy conservation, implement upgrades, and monitor consumption to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
    • Drives productivity initiatives across the system (bottlers, suppliers, FU), identifies opportunities in the system to lower our supply chain cost and influences in the implementation of practices to improve the affordability of our products.
    • Utilizing tools like World Class Manufacturing (WCM) or similar methodologies to optimize plant performance. 

    Utility Systems Management:

    • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of plant utilities including boilers, chillers, water treatment plants, air compressors, and electrical distribution systems to ensure 24/7 availability and efficiency.

    CO2 Plant Oversight:

    • Manage the CO2 production and storage plant, including monitoring CO2 levels, performing routine inspections, and executing start-up and shutdown procedures when the plant is not operational.
    • Ensure CO2 quality meets standards for carbonation in soft drink production, and coordinate with production teams to align supply with demand.

    Preventive and Reactive Maintenance:

    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all utility equipment, conduct root cause analysis for breakdowns, and lead repairs to minimize production disruptions. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as energy usage, uptime, and cost savings.

    Team Collaboration and Reporting:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and maintenance.
    • Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Manager on utility performance, incidents, and improvement projects.
    • Leads technical aspects in the evaluation, troubleshooting and implementation of new products and packages, working with market development team and bottlers. 
    • Collaboratives with technical teams in the execution of new technologies, processes, and innovative solutions and products in the market and provides technical operations support in the implementation of promotions and line extensions.
    • Involved in the development of the business plan objectives and works collaboratively to assure the timely execution of the technical supporting activities.

    • Enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols in utility operations, including handling of hazardous materials like CO2. Conduct risk assessments, ensure compliance with local regulations (e.g., OSHA equivalents), and participate in audits.

    • Minimum of 5 years in utilities engineering within an FMCG or manufacturing environment, preferably in beverage or food processing.
    • Hands-on experience with CO2 systems, carbonation processes, and plant utilities (e.g., boilers, refrigeration, and compressed air) is essential.
    • Proven track record in managing start-up/shutdown operations and troubleshooting industrial equipment.

    Shift Process Artisan (2211005)

    Job Purpose

    • To ensure compliance with all legal statutory requirement within the Engineering Department (line and Utilities), effective actioning of all engineering breakdowns and maintenance/repair. Compliance with safety standards and guidelines and drive a safety culture and ensure safety in the workplace.

    Key Accountabilities and Outputs

    Shift Process Artisan

    • Responsible for line walkabouts on shift, monitoring down time and checking PIMS and POMS at each machine. Taking corrective measures for any out of controls
    • First line attendance and responsibility for all breakdowns on his line relating to his trade. He must present throughout the breakdown until it is solved
    • Audits on area of responsibility for your line and report this on Friday mornings in the Level 2 morning meetings
    • Reporting on PIMS and POMS to the MDT morning meetings and communication books
    • Assisting other lines with breakdowns relating to his trade if requested.
    • Assist and aid standby personnel on callouts
    • Investigation and reporting of 1st level problem solving on all breakdowns and failures. Problem elevation and assistance must only take place once level one problem solving has been attempted
    • Completing and EWO / Notifications “ZBD’s” for each breakdown related stoppage in SHOPWARE. Two minute triggers must be adhered to and each incident must be complete meeting all quality requirements and feedback (trigger for EWO = Two minutes, complete
    • Be familiar with all the spares lists on his line and liaise with the specialists so that spares can be found after hours and in the stores. Call MC or relevant specialist if not sure
    • Completion of running and non-running schedules on shift with quality feedback

    • Do isolation and lock-out of line equipment prior to maintenance

    • The Commercial Administrator serves as the link between the sales function and customers and is therefore key to optimising the customer experience.     Artisan: Electronics

    Job Purpose

    • Providing specialist electronic and automation support that maximises plant uptime, optimises equipment performance, reduces costs through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement, and ensures safe, compliant operation of high-speed production lines.

    Key Accountabilities and Outputs

    Plant maintenance and optimization

    • Electronic systems: Install, maintain, repair, calibrate, and upgrade electronic systems, instrumentation, PLC/HMI controls, variable speed drives, sensors, Scada/Plant Information systems, and industrial networks (Profibus, Ethernet, ASI, etc.) on existing and new machinery.
    • Fault-finding: Perform rapid fault-finding and diagnostics on electronic and related electrical equipment using circuit diagrams, troubleshooting tools, and OEM documentation; attend to breakdowns and provide immediate support to production lines.
    • Maintenance: Execute planned and preventative maintenance schedules, analyse breakdown trends via the maintenance system (e.g., SAP/MAXIMO), and recommend improvements or spares to minimise recurring failures.
    • Programming: Program and optimise control logic, stacking patterns on palletisers, conveyor automation, and high-speed filling/packaging lines (e.g., Siemens S7, TIA Portal, WinCC, Simotion).
    • Continuous improvement initiatives: Focus on implemeting Lean and Sigma 6 and PDCA cycles to deliver high plant availability, cost reduction, improved quality output and faster responses
    • Deliver: Increased efficiencies, reduced down time, reduced MTTR/MTBF, successful project handovers and continuous improvement.
    • Standby: Provide standby/call-out coverage (rotated), work overtime as required, and contribute to budget inputs while managing spares and contractor performance.

    General

    • Collaboration: Collaborate with shift teams, mechanical/electrical artisans, and operators to embed best-practice maintenance processes, provide technical coaching, and act as functional expert in root-cause problem-solving.

    • Proven hands-on experience with:
    • Siemens PLC/HMI/SCADA (S7, TIA Portal, WinCC)
    • Industrial networks and automation
    • Variable speed drives (Danfoss, Schneider, Lenze)
    • Sensors, instrumentation, PT100, contactors, and high-speed filling/packaging lines
    • Programming knowledge of palletisers/robotics advantageous
    • SAP experience
    • Valid driver’s licence and own transport (for standby)
