Job Purpose:

Reporting to the CEO, the purpose of this role is to manage the successful execution of the overall purchasing and planning function of the business. 

This position will be based in Durbanville.

Main accountabilities include but are not limited to:

• Managing full end-to-end operational aspects of the buying and planning functions to ensure smooth product cycle.
• Responsible for the creation and management of the Buying calendar. Ensure that the annual calendar is planned in advance and deadlines are being monitored and met.
• Managing the financial key metrics set for the business. Ensuring KPI’s are met: input monitoring, stock turns, GMROI and AOS.
• Management of the Purchasing Department staff to high levels of performance, ensuring that orders are placed, shipped and landed efficiently and timeously.
• Work collaboratively with the buying team to maximise sales, optimise inventory levels and grow profit.
• Monthly reporting to the CEO on key metrics/findings outlining suggestions and improvements.
• Determining and resolving all Purchasing Department supplier terms, administrative procedures, queries, and issues as well as importation compliance with SA Customs to ensure accreditation status maintained.
• Manage and maintain supplier performance and KPIs.

Technical skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in relevant field
• Strong experience with running the Buying function in retail environment
• Minimum 8 years relevant experience in senior role
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office & Purchasing systems experience
• Shipping & International supplier experience essential (local and imports)
• Previous project management exposure
• Change management experience required
• Driver’s license and own transport

This position is responsible for providing an excellent service to all Weylandts clients. You will be required to use excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills to grow your sales pipeline.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Financial Management

• Consistently meet and exceed monthly and YTD –
• Net Sales Target,
• Discount Target, and
• Homeware Target (% of Net Sales Target)
• Drive new sales opportunities through a variety of innovative methods

Customer/ Brand Management 360°

• Drive exceptional customer service with full accountability for customer engagement and communication
• Assist clients and ensure that their needs are identified and met
• Act as the single point of contact for the client
• Ensure that care instructions are explained
• Maintain general housekeeping and ensure that all items are priced and displayed correctly
• Ensure training compliance in line with company policy

Operational Management

• Ensure that processes detailed below are executed efficiently and as per company policy
• Sales Orders
• Account Management
• SR Management
• Stock take

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12/ Matric
• Relevant diploma/ degree advantageous e.g. Interior Design

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience
• Previous experience in consumer-centric environment
• Proven record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills
• Comfortable working with different systems and technology, including POS and stock management systems
• Must be available to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays
• Passionate about décor and Weylandts furniture and homeware products.
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle essential
