    Data & Analytics Manager

    Introduction

    • Working within the Woolworths Online team – but with a wider remit within the business – the role will be responsible for the development and implementation of data and advanced analytics solutions to enable accurately measuring and reporting on the performance of our online channels via analytics and other data management tools in an automated fashion. Delivering data insight into the business, the role will be instrumental in helping to shape the future of ecommerce and omni-channel in Woolworths. The role will be responsible for setting ambition and culture, and championing for the use of data and analytics in developing transformative and impactful ecommerce and omni-channel solutions. Data and analytics are real strategic assets across the business. The role will work with the broader business including FOODS, FBH, IT, ROG, WFS and external partners, etc. to establish a more data- and analytics- centric approach to how Woolworths Online and App innovates, engages customers and operates. The role is in addition expected to influence the Head of Online and other stakeholders to drive strategic shifts for ecommerce and omni- channel.

    Job description
    Strategy and Development:

    • Develop and drive data and analytics strategy for Woolworths Online.
    • Own the development of site and app analytics tools (like G4).
    • Translate business objectives into requirements, develop clear measurement frameworks and reporting guidelines, ensuring stakeholders have a clear understanding of KPI’s.
    • Promotion/education of Digital Analytics to wider business- from clear communication of reporting to training on digital analytics tools.
    • Identify opportunities to build on current toolset to deliver a complete view of customer, leveraging on-site/off-site behavioural and demographic data.
    • Work with stakeholders outside the Woolworths Online team to develop an omni-channel view of the customer and ensure ecommerce data is incorporated into the business data platforms.
    • Perform competitive benchmarking and trending analysis.
    • Lead research and evaluations of new tools, KPIs and analytical methodologies.

    Reporting & Analysis:

    • Implement and configure analytics platforms and visualisation tools.
    • Automate the delivery of weekly trade reports and scorecards.
    • Provide structure and direction to build out a reporting suite that provides a full view of omni-channel journeys. including top line budgets and KPIs plus future forecasting.
    • Democratisation of web data through development of the self-serve environment (Digital Analytics hub).
    • Proactively surface commercial opportunities and margin-expansion levers through advanced analytics, moving the team beyond reactive requests into a strategic partnership role.
    • Proactively identify opportunities and risks and communicate these finding back to the relevant stakeholders.
    • Lead the drive for continuous improvement in site tagging, testing and analytics measurement.

    Fraud and Loss Prevention:

    • Manage and implement processes and system enhancements to prevent fraud.
    • Manage fraud prevention algorithms.
    • Work with outside organisations to combat ecommerce fraud. 

    Minimum requirements

    • 5-10 years of experience in developing and implementing data and advanced analytics solutions with significant experience in the retail and ecommerce sector.
    • 5-10 years analytics experience in an ecommerce and/or retail environment.
    • University degree preferably in technology, data sciences, computer sciences or applied mathematics.
    • Demonstrable corporate management experience.
    • Deep practical understanding of advanced analytics methodologies including AI and machine learning.
    • Proven track record in building large integrated data lakes and data warehouses in an environment with established heritage systems and different sources of data including connected devices, apps, etc.
    • Deep understanding and practical experience in technology around data, incl. data ingestion, API, etc
    • Proven proficiency in multi-cloud environments, specifically AWS and GCP (BigQuery), with Azure experience considered a strong advantage for cross-functional data integration.
    • Broad and deep understanding of data landscape in retail and ecommerce.
    • A high-level understanding of data governance, privacy and security issues.
    • Expertise in GA4 and Firebase data structures, with deep technical understanding of BigQuery exports, data processing schemas, and event-based tracking.
    • Experience with mobile attribution and marketing analytics platforms, with a preference for AppsFlyer.
    • Fraud and loss prevention experience.
    • Strong communicating and influencing skills.

By ensuring seamless integration between on-premise and cloud environments, the Engineering Manager: Data enables the business to make informed, data-driven decisions while optimising performance and scalability.

    • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing data architectures across both on-premise and AWS-based cloud platforms.
    • Establish best practices for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval, ensuring efficient and reliable data processing.
    • Oversee and optimise ETL processes for the Oracle Data Warehouse, while leading the adoption of modern data pipeline architectures in AWS.
    • Ensure strong data governance, security, and compliance frameworks to maintain data integrity and accessibility across both environments.
    • Optimise data processing and storage for cost efficiency, speed, and scalability.
    • Partner with data science, and data visualisation engineering teams to support advanced analytics and reporting needs.
    • Drive the adoption of modern data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and NoSQL solutions, balancing innovation with stability.
    • Oversee CI/CD processes for data pipelines, ensuring agile, efficient deployments across both teams.
    • Develop and mentor a team of high-performing data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and growth.
    • Implement disaster recovery and high availability strategies, ensuring business continuity for critical data systems across Oracle and AWS.

    Minimum requirements

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum 6 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years leading hybrid (on-premise & cloud) data teams.
    • Proficiency in SQL (Oracle, Redshift), and Python for data processing and automation.
    • Strong experience with on-premise Oracle Data Warehouse and OLAP cubes.
    • Expertise in AWS cloud data architectures (S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Athena).
    • Deep understanding of ETL pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time stream processing.
    • Experience with CI/CD for data workflows and version control (Git, Jenkins, Terraform).
    • Knowledge of data governance, access control, and compliance frameworks across hybrid environments.
    • Ability to lead and mentor two teams of data engineers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
    • Strong capability to translate technical solutions into strategic business value.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across various levels of the organisation.

    Senior Cybersecurity Specialist I: Red Team

    Introduction

    • Support the goal of keeping the organization safe from cyber security threats. The primary focus is on penetration testing and red teaming, alongside a good bit of purple teaming. Build and mature the ability to test, validate and improve cyber security controls. This is a technical role requiring relevant practical experience.

    Job description

    • Work with the rest of the security operations team to proactively identify vulnerabilities and validate controls across the Woolworths environment.
    • Build and mature the red and purple teaming maturity, leveraging technology and automation with the goal of continual control validation.
    • Define and manage a risk-based methodology for application and infrastructure penetration testing.
    • Coordinate application and infrastructure penetration testing according to the methodology and where relevant, in line with compliance requirements (e.g., PCI).
    • Help drive and validate remediation of red team and penetration testing findings.
    • Consult with application development teams during projects and initiatives.
    • Work with, and coordinate, external providers where and when relevant.
    • Support the operation team in responding to security incidents.

    Minimum requirements

    • Deep technical skills.
    • Scripting and automation experience.
    • Ability to explain the common security flaws as well as potential ways to address them.
    • Relentless pursuit of threat identification and remediation.
    • Relevant research and translation into actionable intelligence.
    • Great people skills to engage with the various stakeholders across the business, while ensuring that professionalism is maintained.
    • Ability to engage with and contribute to the Information Security community. 

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Grade 12 and relevant degree/diploma/qualification (3 years)
    • 7 years relevant experience in cyber security, up to 10 years in IT
    • Hands on practical experience in red teaming and penetration testing

    Additional Criteria

    • Relevant qualifications and certifications such as OSCP, OSWE, SANS and CREST
    • Practical experience with the MITRE ATT&CK framework is advantageous
    • Software development experience is advantageous
    • Ability to script and automate processes
    • May be required to assist outside of working hours
