    Short Course Coordinator

    About the job

    Duties

    • Co-ordinating and administrating all the short course programmes;
    • Registering and administering short courses on the Short Course Division platform;
    • Processing and managing all the financial aspects, including reports;
    • Marketing of registered short courses;
    • Development and maintenance of a dedicated website.

    Job Requirements

    • A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent;
    • A minimum of five years' working experience in office/project administration or project management;
    • Strong financial administrative skills relating to income and expenditure;
    • Computer literacy and complete proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel;
    • Good verbal and written communication skills;
    • Excellent client service to internal and external stakeholders;
    • Strong and adaptable interpersonal skills;
    • Good planning, organisational and negotiational skills;
    • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines;
    • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills;
    • The ability to work independently and apply own initiative;
    • The ability to act in a diplomatic way towards people at different levels in and outside of the University;
    • A valid driver's licence.

    Technical Officer

    Duties

    • Teaching support:
    • Providing support to academic staff for the preparation of practicals and lecture notes for Genetics;
    • Supporting academic staff in the basic administration of undergraduate Genetics.
    • Research support:
    • General laboratory manager duties
    • Providing support to academic staff in the research environment with the financial management and general administration of cost centres;

    ii. Ordering research materials and paying service providers;

    iii. Maintaining inventories and instrumentation.

    • Support with postgraduate research projects
    • General research assistance to postgraduate research projects;

    ii. Ensuring that students adhere to safety regulations.

    • Departmental support
    • Managing assigned departmental spaces;
    • Participation in undergraduate as well as postgraduate practicals.

    Job Requirements

    • BScAgric degree or BScHons in Genetics or Plant Breeding;
    • Experience in the execution of molecular biology-based experiments;
    • Effective organisational, administrative and presentation skills;
    • Ability to work independently and in a group;
    • Valid Code B driver's licence.
