    Lead Trainer - Midrand

    MAIN RESPONSABILITIES  

    • Day to day management of the Trainers.
    • Manage and develop direct-reporting staff.
    • To provide regular and timely updates/ feedback and KPI'S to the training managers.
    • Assist in Management competence-based assessment scheme for all Safety Critical staff.
    • Conduct Training Needs Analysis for business training requirements.
    • Carry out Detailed, Design and Development of new training requirements for use by Alstom Trainers.
    • Review and amend existing training material as directed.
    • Delivery of training packages to the business via T3 (Train the Trainer) or a steady state delivery.
    • Assess relevant training needs for staff individuals and organisation, in consultation with departmental heads, including assessment methods and measurement systems entailed.
    • Ensure in-house trainers deliver high quality, cost effective training interventions in line with customer and business requirements in accordance with rail legislation/ regulations.
    • Ensure training and assessment processes are audit compliant.
    • Stays informed as to relevant skill and qualifications levels required by staff for effective performance, and circulate requirements and relevant information to the organisation as appropriate.
    • Identify, select and assist in management of external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards.
    • Plan and deliver training courses where necessary to augment that provided externally or internally by others.
    • Assist in the arrangement for the maintenance of all necessary equipment and materials relating to the effective delivery and measurement of training.
    • Assist in the maintenance and control of training database/ record keeping systems.
    • Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant organisational and statutory policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws.
    • Report on activities, costs, performance etc. as required.
    • Benchmark and share best practice with other ALSTOM businesses and external companies, keeping abreast of new thinking on learning tools and technologies.
    • Develop self and maintain knowledge in relevant field at all times.
    • Good understanding of all ALSTOM special processes and training requirements

    Educational Requirement

    Mandatory:

    • Education and Training Qualified
    • Qualified in Learning and Development, or equivalent proven experience in L&D or adult education would be an advantage
    • Qualified Assessor
    • Qualified Moderator

    Desirable:

    • Education and Training Qualified Level.
    • Trainer/ Teacher qualification/ background would be an advantage.
    • Knowledge of rail industry/group standards.
    • People management/ project management skills

    Experience

    Mandatory:

    • Experience in conducting in depth Training Needs Analysis,
    • Experience in the Detailed Design, Development, Delivery, Assessment and Evaluation of high quality re-usable training packages.
    • Experience in the production of high-quality training documentation/ technical publications, aide memoires, training aids and student hand-outs.
    • Excellent team management, project management, organisational and planning skills.
    • Excellent written and oral skills.

    Test Technician - Johannesburg

    Key Responsibilities

    • Apply standard T&C processes
    • Engage actively in own abroad training
    • Other job functions as required by management
    • Ability to work shifts (day or Night) and flexible to alternate
    • Respect and promote strict compliance with EHS rules, local regulation and AZDP
    • Ensure timely execution of serial testing and associated troubleshooting
    • Ensure delivery of proper documentation after test execution
    • Trace with precision and rigour each test result and failure
    • Strict respect of the product under test and of the testing environment
    • Operate the train on the Test Track
    • Ensures respect of EHS and Test Track safety Instructions
    • Ensures the Safety of the Testing team and of the Train while operating on the Test Track
    • Ensure proper EHS management during rolling stock testing

    Minimum Requirements

    • National. Diploma Electrical Engineering: Light current
    • Min 2 years’ experience in commissioning and testing of Electrical / Control / PLC systems within process industry, railways or factory automation
    • Be familiar with high-risk activities in association with Electrical work and EHS requirements
    • Have a good understanding of key electrical and/or mechanical processes (in particular earthing & bonding, cabling, protection and instrumentation
    • A solid understanding of power electronics will be beneficial
    • IT proficient
    • Ability to read electrical schematics and functional specification

    Special Requirements

    • The job involves frequent mobility, with work in several depots, and at times on the train corridors.
    • To carry out technical support and maintenance on 24/7 shift & on-call basis (night, day, weekend).
