    LEC - Head of Financial Reporting (Re-Advertisement)

    Position Description

    The Legal Entity Control team is responsible for financial oversight of their legal entity, and is tasked with ensuring that a strong control environment exists as it relates to all businesses, products and operational areas that impact the Legal Entity financials and regulatory reporting of the firm.

    Job Responsibilities

    Full responsibility of the financial accounting and reporting function.

    • Communicate and partner with senior leadership and various internal stakeholders across the firm on various matters impacting the legal entity
    • Month-end analytical review of the standalone and consolidated legal entity to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial statements, and preparation of various reports including contributions to the Monthly Controller’s Book, as well as Legal Entity and Line of Business financial commentary and regulatory reporting requirements
    • Drive process improvement to enhance reporting and gain efficiencies. Legal entity accounting & control on a monthly basis, including oversight of the month-end close process, parent/child accounting, equity pick up, review of inter-entity breaks and unnatural general ledger balance monitoring
    • Preparation of financial statements for local legal entities in compliance with IFRS..
    • Liaison with external auditors for all financial statements and external agreed upon procedures 
    • Month end corporate reporting and variance commentary, compliance with the firms GLA (General ledger attestation) policies and US accounting policies, P&L remittance and capital hedging.
    • Responsible for monitoring location KPIs, scorecards and health checks 
    • Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and operating effectively in accordance with the Legal Entity Controllers Standards, and External Financials Reporting Standards.
    • Review of the monthly IFRS results from the corporate multi-currency ledger.
    • Participating in New Business initiative assessments (NBIA) as well as sign-off for all proposed new products and business activity in the local legal entities.
    • Involvement in location and regional projects as required. Preparation and review of the location management reports and quarterly packs 
    • Partnering with the South Africa tax controller and EMEA tax for the review of corporate tax packs, vat apportionment files and attribution reviews
    • Review and track booking model methodologies and partner with the line of business Controllers to better understand the key business driver of the Legal Entity financial results
    • Assist in the on-going Legal Entity Control Standard compliance monitoring and drive accountability model with the line of business and LEC Controller teams globally
    • Intercompany Activity Control including variance commentary and help drive root cause resolution
    • Participate in and help drive the overall agenda on Controls Management, Firmwide legal entity reporting projects including infrastructure and process improvement efforts and other Controller initiatives as needed

    Requires Qualification, Skills and Capabilities

    • More than 12 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in regulatory capital management in the banking industry. 
    • A bachelor’s degree in finance, applied mathematics, economics, or a related field is required. 
    • Strong knowledge of financial instruments, risk management in the banking context. 
    • An understanding of derivative flows. 
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with stakeholders across various departments, regions, and regulatory bodies. 
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret, analyse, and communicate complex data and reports effectively to support decision-making processes. 
    • Possess motivation and flexibility to operate independently, reprioritize their workload as necessary, and deliver to tight deadlines to maintain a strong control environment. 
    • Ability to collaborate effectively, partner with colleagues, be open-minded, inclusive, and able to overcome conflict
    • Superior accounting and analytical acumen, with ability to understand, produce and explain income statement and balance sheet content and variances
    • Self-motivated, strong initiative and superior work ethic; ability to thrive in a changing work environment
    • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, with an ability to be flexible in a dynamic and challenging environment

    Client Onboarding Middle Office Associate

    Posting Description

    As Middle Office Specialist in KYC Middle Office Branches Team, you will act as a single point of contact and subject matter expert (SME) for onboarding new customers, incremental business requests and renewals of our existing customer KYC records. You will be aligned to a designated Front Office team and facilitate across all teams on KYC execution. To be successful in this role you should have the ability to quickly build rapport with our internal and external customers to ensure the KYC aspect of the Clients onboarding experience is exceptional, efficient and world class. Working with our business partners you will manage expectations on turnaround timeframes and provide appropriate updates on the progress of the onboarding.

    Job responsibilities

    • Manages the KYC book of work New Business/Renewals for your designated Front Office to prioritise active requests
    • Builds and develops strong partnerships, identifies challenges and eliminates roadblocks with all internal partners
    • Works with the Front Office teams, directs clients as required in aim  to obtain all necessary supporting evidence to fulfil KYC due diligence
    • Ensures all information to and from our Clients is accurate, complete and compliant with AML, Local and Corporate Due Diligence requirements
    • Coordinates case prioritization, capacity planning, and assignment with our Global Maker teams and Quality Control
    • Stays up to date of any changes to processes and procedures, regulatory change and ensures impacts are communicated to our business partners 
    • Leads peers engaged on the same portfolio

    Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

    • Working knowledge of KYC/Compliance/AML standards
    • Sound understanding of the Financial Industry
    • Knowledge of multiple client types (i.e. Corporates, Non-Banking Financial Institutions, Banks, Foreign Correspondent Banks, Non-Operating/Asset Holding Companies, Governments, Organizations, Publicly Traded Companies, Small and Large Privately Held Operating Companies) 
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with experience of conflict resolution
    • Resilient interpersonal skills, ability to partner with internal stakeholders, influencing and negotiating effectively with business partners and senior managers
    • Client focused whist maintaining a strong controls mind-set
    • Proactive and flexible approach to personal workload and wider team target
