    Logistics Operator

    • The main purpose of this role is to execute, both physically and within the information system, the counting and movement of materials in the warehouse.
    • This role will be based at the Gautrain Maintenance Depot in Midrand, Johannesburg. 

    YOUR ROLE:

    • Safety and Quality Assurance: Comply with safety requirements according to Alstom SA standards. Comply to the OHSACT.
    • Work Tasks: Accurate and timeous receiving and dispatching of tools and material to work teams and recording in MAXIMO and GSI. Daily cycle counting as per annual count plan.
    • Housekeeping: Maintain stores cleanliness and condition of demarcated areas. Follow stores procedures on stacking, storage.
    • Effective Self Management: Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self management. Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Matric certificate; basic stores qualification
    • Good written & verbal communication skills
    • Good organizing skills
    • Good computer skills – excel; word & outlook
    • Knowledge of tooling and equipment
    • General knowledge of stores functionality
    • Sound knowledge of knowledge of SAP would be an advantage
    • Technical industry knowledge would be an advantage
    • Ability to work shifts
    • South African citizen

    Field Modification Operator

    Job Purpose

    • To apply modifications in manufactured Rolling Stock units already delivered by the factory in accordance with the Field Modification Instruction (FMI) documents and Gibela’s industrial and quality processes.
    • Attend to change requests in alignment with field engineering specifications and instructions. 

    Field Modification

    • Perform modifications on Rolling Stock units according to the work instruction and company procedures, especially in relation to Industrial and Quality requirements including the repair or replacements of components or parts.
    • Undertake reworks, retrofits, repairs etc in accordance with company requirements and service orders allocated.
    • Perform Emergency Maintenance and Diagnostics (EMD) in the event of major repairs after accidents or vandalism.
    • Inspect and ensure that equipment and tools meet required safety standards prior to use.
    • Request materials, components and parts from the warehouse in line with service orders.
    • Perform the necessary modifications, complete and submit the quality self-inspection to the Team Leader for verification by the Quality team.
    • Update the SES system and close service orders upon completion of each task.
    • Provide daily feedback to the Team Leader regarding task completion and escalate challenges as needed.
    • Fix mechanical issues identified during the final inspection (PC11).
    • Record attendance, task completion, and quality and safety deviations on the digital line sideboard (DLS).
    • Attend regular team briefings.
    • Housekeeping, Health and Safety 
    • Adhere to PPE requirements.
    • Adhere to health and safety requirements, standards and policies. 
    • Isolate the train prior to performing any activity to ensure safe working procedures.
    • Adhere to AZDP procedures.
    • Maintain housekeeping standards and return used tools and equipment to designated area/s.
    • Complete the equipment checklists on a daily basis and report faulty equipment to the Team Leader.  
    • Discard tools in accordance with company procedures where applicable.
    • Assist Contractors and ensure that they adhere to safety standards.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4) or N3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    • Mechanical or Electrical Trade Test (NQF Level 4).
    • 2 – 3 years in Industrial and technical experience preferably from working in a railway or similar industry.
    • Experience in the railway industry will be an added advantage.

    Knowledge

    • EHS legislation, policies and standards.
    • Work instructions including Engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
    • Special tools.
    • Train sub-systems.

    Maintenance Technician

    Job Purpose

    • To provide corrective technical maintenance support to the customer during the warranty period and ensure performance targets are achieved in line with customer requirements. Guide and assist the customer on corrective maintenance after the warranty period.

    Key Responsibilities

    Technical Support

    • Collaborate and support the Engineering Department in analyzing train-related technical problems and faults and propose effective maintenance solutions.
    • Guide and support the customer (e.g., Drivers and the technical fleet management) in resolving emergencies that arise during service operations.
    • Support the customer in corrective maintenance execution by:
    • Coaching and training the customer on the maintenance procedures, as outlined in the contractual agreement.
    • Prepare trains for service through functional testing and applying train diagnostic methods, tools, and resources (e.g., Condition-Based Fault Monitoring (CFM), on-board computerised equipment, working manuals, troubleshooting guide and train system expertise.
    • Report all the defects identified during commercial services to facilitate the creation of service orders for defect resolution.

    Maintenance Execution

    • Troubleshoot and repair the Gibela Rolling Stock, in compliance with specified quality procedures and standards.
    • Perform manual tasks and when required, work on powered up trains while strictly adhering to safety precautions and controls.
    • Comply with Health, Safety and Quality procedures as specified by legislation and the company’s Health and Safety policies.
    • Perform functional testing of the train to ensure readiness for service. Apply diagnostics tools, onboard computerised equipment, working manuals, troubleshooting guides and train system expertise to resolve root causes and defects.
    • Conduct high speed testing and deploy trains to other depots as required.
    • Attend regular team briefings to report on progress, address issues and highlight challenges encountered during the shift.
    • Report accidents or incidents on a going basis.
    • Drive company vehicles when required and applicable.
    • Train and mentor new team members.
    • Assist the Reliability team and the Field Engineer to understand the root causes of complex failures.
    • Update the Service Execution System (SES) upon task completion.

    Minimum Requirements

    • National Diploma in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
    • 1 - 3 Years maintenance and technical engineering experience preferably in the rail industry (e.g. testing, use of tools and schematics).
    • 2 Years troubleshooting experience.

    Special Requirement

    • Incumbent will be required to perform tasks at heights.
    • Incumbent will be required to work overtime and shifts.
    • Incumbent may be required to travel, occasionally.
