    Head of Reporting and Consolidations

    Job Purpose:

    • The Head: Group Financial Reporting and Consolidation is responsible for the Group’s consolidated financial and management reporting in accordance with company policies and external reporting standards. The Head: Group Financial Reporting and Consolidation also oversees the General Accounting Function

    Duties: 

    • Review current process or methods of collecting and consolidating financial information to identify areas of improvement.
    • Coordination and production of consolidated group accounts.
    • Ad-hoc financial reporting.
    • Review of reports on actual performance for inclusion in management and board packs.
    • Manage the consolidation of the Group’s results and prepare the financial sections and any required supporting analysis.
    • Produce the financial sections of the Integrated Annual Report.
    • Ensure the development and deployment of standardised Group reporting structures and systems to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.
    • Provide technical guidance to the local finance functions on IFRS issues, disclosure items, new accounting standards and complex accounting matters.
    • Provide financial input to presentations for use at management, board and investor meetings.
    • Liaise with the Group communications and investor relations department on financial matters.
    • Review monthly management submissions made by segments.
    • Conduct detailed review and investigation of variance analysis schedules and preparations of summary review documents to be used for the monthly Management review.
    • Consolidate and analyse Group Capex projects.
    • Agree and monitor performance objectives with direct reports and identify areas for performance improvement and any adjustments to organisation, tools, processes and people as necessary.
    • Develop group reporting resources in the group through clearly understood roles, responsibilities and performance objectives, regular feedback and continuing professional training.
    • Provide accurate and timely financial information, reports and analysis including formats, processes and systems to provide this.
    • Establish communication and rapport building with Commercial Finance and other stakeholders, to ensure financial information fits business needs and maintains high quality/integrity.
    • Perform periodic and year end closing, in coordination with the concerned departments/divisions/GBS, including periodic IFRS financial statements for external and internal reporting including the processes supporting these.
    • Manage production of monthly Adcorp relevant management accounts pack and ad hoc reports to internal customers .
    • Manage the preparation of financial information to BOD and Audit Committee.
    • Managing and maintaining the group standard chart of accounts.

    Leadership

    • Support team in their professional development.
    • Mentor and motivate team members.
    • Act as the primary contact for assigned employees.
    • Identify competency and qualification needs and recommendation of appropriate measures (training, qualifications, etc.). Relationship
    • Cooperate and interact with internal and external auditors.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to manage the preparation of financial information to BOD and Audit Committee.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to deliver consolidated group reports in a timely manner.

    Qualification & Job Experience

    • Post graduate degree in Accounting, CA(SA) - SAICA Registered 
    • + 8 years’ post qualification experience ( with 3+ years in a supervisory role).
    • Very good knowledge of Finance and Finance processes.
    • Very good understanding of Accounting processes/IFRS/JSE.

    Group Finance Executive

    JOB PURPOSE

    A JSE listed entity specialisng in modern workplace solutions is seeking an experience Group Finance Executive. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing finance functions including reporting, planning, budgeting, forecasting and monitoring, working capital management as well as overall policy development and implementation. This role’s key focus is to ensure the integrity of the planning, budgeting and forecasting process, financial reporting and visibility of business financial performance. Working closely with the GBS and Segment Finance to ensure that there is Finance Master Data strategy in place and that master data quality is maintained and refreshed in a coordinated manner. This role is also responsible for supporting operational and financial control, monitoring frameworks for business insight and performance analytics. 

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

    • Honours or Post Graduate degree in Accounting, CA, CIMA qualification or NQF equivalent.
    • 8-10 years post qualification experience in a finance environment.
    • Experience from another controlling job is an advantage.
    • Good understanding of Accounting processes/ IFRS/JSE.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior management role.

    KEY RESPONSIBILTIES: 

    PROCESS

    • Challenge business decisions through provision of insight and recommendations.
    • Facilitating regular dialogues between Group and embedded finance including the analysis of forecasts and plans.
    • Review and analysing the financial performance and forecasting of the group and provide relevant advice and direction.
    • Planning of monthly, quarterly and annual report and continuous process optimisation.
    • Develop and implement improvements to the control framework to support accurate financial reporting; ongoing assessment of risks and associated controls.
    • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyse business performance metrics.
    • Contribute to sustaining a competitive advantage through networking and benchmarking and representation on related forums.
    • Facilitate the development and maintenance of a comprehensive set of corporate policies & procedures.
    • Leads a periodic policy/procedure review process that assures the requirements are current and applicable to regulations and business practices.
    • Establish and comply to governance principles and structures in line with best practice (e.g. Group Policies, IFRS).
    • Ensure that group financial statements and other reports are published on time.
    • Monitor the relevant key performance indicators (e.g. compliance with the calendar) and take initiative to derive the necessary measures if KPIs are not achieved.
    • Provide technical accounting oversight and support, addressing complex issues arising from business development activity, organisational change and change in regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee the design of effective and efficient future financial modelling in support of the business strategy and new business ventures.
    • Support the development of new business initiatives by evaluating the initiatives against suitability, acceptability and feasibility and provide relevant advice and direction.
    • Act as an advisor by providing financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
    • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
    • Oversee the implementation of finance strategies, policies, control frameworks and practices.
    • Develop and document accounting policies, procedures and work instructions to maintain accounting compliance and audit controls.
    • Support the planning and management of internal and external audit activities.
    • Oversee the management of master data.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to implement policies and procedures.
    • Work with Function Leads to ensure compliance to all policies and procedures

    CUSTOMER

    • Build and maintain effective business relationships with Group Business Services, embedded finance and Group Finance in order to manage service delivery in line with business needs.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
    • Engage with key stakeholders to identify changing clients’ needs and provide relevant advice and direction to align with client needs. 

    FINANCE

    • Manage and minimize financial risk exposure by developing and maintaining systems of internal controls, liaising with Risk Management functions as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with senior management to formulate short and long-term strategic financial objectives and operating strategies for the business, in line with the overall business strategy of the group.
    • Review and approve the individual and consolidated financial budgets and forecasts for the group.
    • Oversee the planning, budgeting and forecasting process.
    • Provide direction for continuous improvement efforts by managing the identification of opportunities, cost reduction, improvements and systems enhancements.

    PEOPLE

    • Oversee talent management for direct reports in terms of recruitment, retention and development.
    • Ensure adherence to Group Business Services performance management requirements, ensuring continuous performance feedback to and development of direct reports.
    • Ensure that all staff are motivated, developed, and appraised so that individual and collective performance meets the needs of the customers.
    • Drive a culture of operational excellence in financial control processes and activities.
    • Effectively manage performance within the team in order to ensure business objectives are achieved.
