    Plant Engineer

    • The Plant Engineer has a critical role in connecting operations with the mechanical/electrical maintenance organization, helping minimize downtime and failure rates and maximize equipment productivity. To manage project resources including contractors. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Drive compliance by ensuring equipment and machinery comply with relevant legislation and that Team Leaders fulfil their safety obligations with respect to work instructions, task observations and risk assessments to provide a safe and healthy work environment. This includes fulfilling GMR2.7 duties as stipulated in the OHS Act.
    • Control and manage the relevant maintenance budgets as agreed with the Engineering
    • Manager to ensure planned cost outcomes are achieved.
    • Implement, improving and executing the maintenance strategy, objectives and tactics in respect of the available resources to ensure optimum performance and reliability of the plants.
    • Drive effective maintenance through root cause failure analyses on critical equipment and/or system failures and recommend corrective measures to prevent recurrences.
    • Responsible for the accuracy of equipment database, bills of material and the asset register to ensure good data integrity and availability of equipment and/or spares.
    • Manage the Engineering department interaction with the Operations/Production
    • Department to optimise processes and improve systems with the purpose of optimising efficiencies.
    • Develops guidelines and rules, provide assistance and direction to plant personnel to ensure good engineering practice through documentation, quality control, and review mechanisms.
    • Manage the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities in line with production requirements through subordinates by means of effective asset care systems.
    • Responsible for high level technical reports related to projects, maintenance activities, improvements and costs.
    • Implement and manage approved projects and new technology and ensure compliance to standard engineering practices.
    • To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored through the talent management and IDP processes.
    • Lead and oversee projects and maintenance jobs on a practical level.
    • Knowledge and understanding for planning statutory shutdown.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • BEng or BSc or BTech Degree in Engineering (Mechanical & Electrical) (Mandatory)
    • National Diplomas may be considered only with exceptional automation and explosives-industry experience (10+ years).
    • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience as a plant or maintenance engineer in an automated discreet component manufacturing operation, managing a maintenance team, projects and budget.
    • Demonstrated experience with PLC-controlled systems, automation troubleshooting, and high-precision machinery.
    • Proven capability to lead and coordinate Mechanical and E&I teams in a high-risk, compliance-driven environment.
    • Knowledge of preventative and pro-active maintenance techniques and their application.
    • Working knowledge of the following modules in SAP - PM & MM.
    • Working knowledge of relevant legislation (i.e. LRA, BCEA, OHS and Explosive Act).

    FSSC Risk and Compliance Lead

    Purpose of the Job

    • The Financial Shared Services Risk and Compliance Manager is responsible for designing and executing risk management strategies within the shared services environment. This includes managing credit risk, customer risk, and operational risk, financial crime (money laundering, corruption, bribery, fraud, etc.), association risk and reputation risks to ensure stability, control and adherence to internal policies, statutory requirements, adopted rules, codes and standards, and global governance best practices. The role ensures that financial processes, controls, systems, and service delivery models operate in line with AECI’s standards and regulatory obligations. The role requires proactive identification, assessment, mitigation of risks and overseeing compliance related to customer accounts, credit exposure, and shared services processes, while supporting business growth objectives and ensuring operational excellence across SA and international entities services by FSS.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Credit Risk Management

    • Develop and maintain credit risk policies and procedures aligned with corporate standards.
    • Perform credit assessments for new and existing customers, including financial statement analysis and risk scoring.
    • Approve and monitor customer credit limits based on risk appetite and business requirements.
    • Track credit exposure and escalate high-risk accounts to senior management.
    • Collaborate with collections and commercial teams to minimize bad debt and optimize working capital.

    Customer Risk Oversight

    • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on customer portfolios, including payment behaviour and financial health.
    • Maintain and update customer risk profiles using data-driven models.
    • Partner with sales and finance teams to balance risk and revenue objectives.
    • Implement early warning indicators for deteriorating customer risk.

    Operational Risk & Compliance

    • Identify and mitigate risks within shared services processes (billing, collections, cash application).
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate governance, regulatory requirements and adopted rules, codes and standards.
    • Lead risk reviews and audits, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
    • Develop and maintain risk registers for shared services operations.
    • Oversee compliance related to Data Protection & Privacy, Financial Crime, Tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
    • Integrate FICA/KYC verification and enhanced due diligence into customer onboarding & credit assessment workflows.
    • Flag suspicious or unusual customer credit behaviours for AML review.
    • Assess operational, financial, regulatory, compliance, sanctions, political exposure and fraud risks across all FSSC processes.

     Reporting & Analytics

    • Prepare monthly and quarterly risk reports for senior leadership, highlighting trends and exposures.
    • Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor credit and customer risk performance.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
    • Maintain audit trails, documentation, and evidence repositories for governance assurance.
    • Partake in annual reporting cycles to identified regulatory and other authoritative bodies.

    Stakeholder Engagement 

    • Act as the primary point of contact for risk-related matters within Financial Shared Services.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (Finance, Sales, Legal, Compliance and Procurement) and external stakeholders (credit agencies, auditors).
    • Deliver training and awareness sessions on risk management practices, governance, compliance and controls.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or related field.
    • Professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM, or similar) preferred.
    • Minimum 6 years of experience in credit risk, financial risk management, compliance, and operational risk.
    • Experience in a Shares Services environment preferred.
    • Advanced Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and risk management software.
    • Knowledge of IFRS, Companies Act, Tax/VAT regulations, POPIA, FICA and other regulatory requirements.

    Senior Process Assistant

    Purpose of the job

    • The Senior Process Assistant is responsible for supporting safe, efficient, and continuous plant operations during assigned shifts. The role involves monitoring plant equipment, handling raw materials and finished products, maintaining housekeeping standards, assisting with production activities, and responding to emergencies in line with operational and safety requirements.

    Required outputs: Functional

    • Assist other process controllers in operating the plant
    • Provide shift cover as SPA by monitoring plant and equipment within the scope of authority
    • Perform routine inspections of plant equipment and site to ensure operations remain within operating limits
    • Identify and report any abnormal equipment or process conditions
    • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas to required housekeeping standards
    • Complete shift logs, batch tickets, and data sheets accurately and on time
    • Measure, mix, and dose chemicals and/or raw materials into mixing or reactor vessels
    • Draw product and process samples and deliver them to the laboratory for quality testing
    • Run off finished products into bulk road tankers, drums, flow bins, or other approved containers
    • Ensure correct product labels and batch numbers are applied to all drums and mini-bulks
    • Clean final product drums, mini-bulks, and flow bins
    • Receive and off-load raw materials from bulk road tankers
    • Remove empty drums, bulk bags, and flow bins from the plant to designated disposal sites
    • Change filters and strainers as required
    • Clear blockages in equipment and pipelines
    • Operate forklifts and hoists safely (where licensed and authorized)
    • Perform tasks involving working at heights in accordance with safety procedures
    • Act as first line of defence in the event of fire or other plant emergencies
    • Assist the day shift team leader when required

    • Grade 12 with mathematics and Physical Science 
    • NQF 2 Plant Operation – advantageous
    • Minimum one-year experience in chemical production environment

    Purpose of the Job

    • To execute Group and AECI Property Services Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Risk strategy and ensures an ever-increasing Safety, Health and Environmental culture exists throughout AECI Property Services – Umbogintwini for employees, customers, visitors, contractors and to a certain degree, to the tenants housed within the Industrial Complex.

    Process Controller

    Purpose of the job

    • To control and operate plant and equipment as efficiently and safely as possible to defined quality specifications.  Must report and investigate deviations from normal conditions and be able to deal with basic process upsets.

    Required outputs: Functional
