    Senior clerk: Debit Orders (Centurion)

    Description

    • We are looking for a customer orientated and self motivated individual to join our Debit orders team.
    • Under the direction of the Head Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring that all payments files are processed accurately, correctly and in a timeous manner and keep the standard of the department at a high level.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Process and upload daily selection files to ABSA Bank and QLINK
    • Ensure output files are submitted as per monthly schedules
    • Monitor and verify file dates, selection periods, and report discrepancies
    • Schedule premium increases and ensure accurate daily deductions
    • Create and maintain ACB and Debit check deduction schedules
    • Provide training and guidance to new clerks
    • Review clerical work and identify training needs
    • Conduct informal and formal performance appraisals
    • Offer coaching, support, and disciplinary guidance where necessary
    • Foster professional communication across department
    • Investigate discrepancies (first premiums, daily errors, lapses, etc.)
    • Maintain statistics on selections and non-payments
    • Send daily broker non-payment updates and respond to queries promptly
    • Update policy non-lapse indicators accurately
    • Handle queries via phone and email with professionalism
    • Keep policyholders, institutions, and life offices informed of progress
    • Ensure timely follow-ups on non-payment issues

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the insurance industry
    • Strong computer literacy, with advanced Excel skills an advantage
    • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    • From years 2008 - 2009 requires 30 credits or 60 credits on NQF 4 obtained by 31 December 2011 or full FAIS recognised qualification obtained by 31 December 2013
    • All those appointed in the industry from the year 2010 onwards require a full FAIS recognised qualification

    • Business and functional experience in the funeral industry will be a advantage
