    Executive Assistant

    Job Description

    • The purpose of this EA role is to support the FirstRand Group Chief Audit Executive (CAE) in the management of the internal audit functions across the group. This will include supporting the Group CAE to articulate and co-ordinate delivery of our strategy, project management of various strategic activities, interaction with heads of internal audit and other GIA management teams to track delivery of the strategy and support of the delivery of the Group CAEs key objectives over and above the delivery of the strategy. The individual should be able to effectively liaise with heads of internal audit across the group, liaising with the finance community and partnering closely with the various human capital functions to support the CAE in the talent management of our audit resources across the group. Support on presentations and production of documents for the board, board committees, external stakeholders and franchise exco’s will also be required. This role is suited for candidates who have had meaningful audit experience/professional services experience and strategy execution and monitoring and are looking to broaden their experience and widen their network within the business at large. This role is one of the ways within which mobility is promoted within the group.
    • Initiate dialogue to build professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to listen, advise, influence, negotiate and present at all levels.
    • Lead and facilitate difficult conflict situations into consensual agreements.

    • Action items and key issues requiring resolution by assisting the business to address strategic problems and answer strategic questions; monitor to ensure actions are completed by the right people at the right time.
    • Monitor and adjust strategic frameworks as required.
    • Take responsibility for the planning and coordinating of monthly executive committee meetings and other key meetings and workshops for Group Internal Audit (GIA), including preparation of materials for discussion and assembling of information for the meeting.
    • Take responsibility for the end-to-end management of projects, setting out the scope of work, developing a project plan, project-managing internal and external resources and driving the initiative to completion.
    • Liaise with internal and external advisors and stakeholders on strategic projects or other risk matters; stakeholders include management, excos, FirstRand Group Management, the board, shareholders, and the Prudential Authority.
    • As required by specific projects, create governance structures and dashboard metrics to monitor progress against strategy and highlight initiatives / risks.
    • Research, analysis and integration of proposed solutions.
    • Conduct local and international research on internal audit functions and related matter to support the function in being future fit.
    • Benchmark research against peers and global best practice.
    • Cut to the core of a vast volume of information and prioritize what is relevant to understanding specific issues and trends in the broader environment; know who to contact for specific information.
    • Co-ordination / execution of relevant reports, presentations, speeches and other written material
    • Handle documentation that requires the attention of the CAE and prepare reports on various matters.
    • Write / co-ordinate strategy documents, presentation material, speeches, briefing documents, minutes of meetings, business emails, regulatory, financial and compliance reports and other relevant documentation as required.
    • Keep the CAE informed of various activities within and outside the group.
    • Analyse, review and/or assist with issues of an operational or technical nature.
    • Follow-up on assignments / tasks delegated by the CAE.
    • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the GIA executive team on matters such as reporting, risk projects, strategic projects, and initiatives etc.
    • Serve as a liaison to the HC divisional head/business partner on the execution of GIA staff related strategies.
    • Work with Corporate Marketing and other stakeholders on organising and facilitating GIA events.

    • Qualified CA(SA)/CIA or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in internal or external audit preferred.
    • Experience with data analytics will be advantageous.
    • Experience in banking or financial services industries will be an advantage.

    You will be an ideal candidate if you:

    • Under-graduate degree in Banking, Risk Management, Finance, Accounting or Auditing and/or quantitative subjects, Applied Mathematics, or Professional Accounting, and/or similar professional financial qualification.
    • 2 – 3 years + experience
    • Capable of analyzing complex concepts and translating these into simple and concise narratives for management and other stakeholders.
    • Capable of managing large datasets using tools such as Excel/VBA/SQL/Power query
    • Knowledge of ALM risk measures and practices (e.g., NII sensitivity, reprice and cashflow ladders)
    • Experience of balance sheet management/ALM systems such as KRM/QRM is advised.
