Senior React Native Mobile App Engineer

    About You

    • You're the kind of engineer who notices a dropped frame before anyone else does and can't resist shaving a few milliseconds off app performance. React Native is your home turf, but you're just as comfortable diving into Swift, Kotlin, CI/CD pipelines, or untangling a tricky API integration. You care as much about clean architecture as you do about pixel-perfect UI, and you've probably muttered, "There's definitely a better way to automate this." You enjoy mentoring others, love solving complex problems, and get a little too excited when an app store release goes off without a hitch. Most importantly, you build apps that people genuinely enjoy using, and you never settle for "it works" when it could be exceptional.

    Responsibilities:
    Feature Development & Delivery

    • Design and build high-quality features across React Native, iOS (Swift/SwiftUI), and Android (Kotlin).
    • Take ownership of features end-to-end — from technical design through to production release.
    • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code that meets OneDayOnly's engineering standards.
    • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive and thorough feedback to peers.

    Performance & Optimisation

    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across app startup, rendering, and network layers.
    • Proactively monitor app health metrics and drive continuous performance improvements.
    • Champion best practices for memory management, battery efficiency, and smooth UI rendering.

    CI/CD & Mobile DevOps

    • Maintain and improve mobile CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and automated releases.
    • Manage app store submissions (Apple App Store & Google Play) and release processes.
    • Contribute to mobile DevOps tooling and automate repetitive operational tasks.

    API Integration & Backend Collaboration

    • Design and implement robust API integrations with OneDayOnly's backend services.
    • Collaborate with backend engineers to define and evolve mobile-facing APIs.
    • Handle complex data flows, caching strategies, and offline-first considerations.

    UI/UX Implementation & Design Systems

    • Implement pixel-perfect UI from design specifications with high fidelity.
    • Contribute to and maintain the mobile design system and shared component library.
    • Partner with our UX Designer to ensure designs are both feasible and delightful to use.

    Mentorship & Team Growth

    • Mentor junior and mid-level mobile developers through code reviews and pair programming.
    • Share knowledge with the broader engineering team through presentations and documentation.
    • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • 3–5+ years of professional mobile development experience.
    • Strong proficiency in React Native — you've shipped production apps with it.
    • Solid native mobile experience in Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) and/or Kotlin (Android).
    • Proven track record of building and shipping consumer-facing mobile applications.
    • Deep understanding of mobile performance optimisation and best practices.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile (e.g. Bitrise, Fastlane, GitHub Actions).
    • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and mobile networking patterns.
    • Experience implementing designs from Figma or similar design tools with high accuracy.
    • Familiarity with App Store and Google Play release processes.
    • Experience with e-commerce or high-traffic consumer apps.
    • Contributions to open-source mobile projects.
    • Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or push notification infrastructure.
    • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) in mobile contexts.

    Values

    • Challenge Accepted: We actively seek ownership, embrace complexity, and hold ourselves accountable for delivering high-quality, reliable code.
    • Solve Smart: We find the simplest, most effective path to a solution. We use data to inform our decisions, challenge assumptions, and build for the long-term.
    • Character Counts: We act with integrity in all that we do. We communicate with transparency, give and receive feedback constructively, and take accountability for our mistakes and our successes.
    • Customer Obsessed: We build with empathy for our users. We strive to understand their needs and challenges, making them the central focus of every feature we ship and every line of code we write.
    • Seriously Unserious: We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We bring energy and humor to our collaborations, celebrate our successes together, and support each other through challenges.

    Retoucher

    About You

    • You're a retoucher who actually enjoys the detail. You notice the dust on the bottle, the colour cast on the linen, the edge that's not quite clean, and you fix it before anyone else has to point it out. You work fast because the deadlines are real, but you don't let speed cost you accuracy.
    • You've got a couple of years behind you and a portfolio that shows it: clean finishes, natural results, nothing over-processed. You know your way around Photoshop and you're comfortable in a RAW processor, or willing to learn ours properly. You keep your files tidy, your naming accurate and your backups current, because in a studio that ships every day, organisation isn't admin, it's the job.
    • You're honest when something's off, you ask when you're unsure, and you take feedback without taking it personally. You like working closely with a small team, and you're happy to grow as the studio does.

    Responsibilities:
    Image import and processing

    • Import RAW image files from the studio into dated Capture One sessions.
    • Review, filter and curate galleries to select the strongest shots for retouching.
    • Apply colour correction, exposure adjustments and cropping to studio standards in Capture One.
    • Convert RAW files to JPEG at correct format, quality, resolution and dimensions for upload.

    Retouching

    • Clean up products and foregrounds: remove dust, scratches, fingerprints, smudges and background distractions.
    • Retouch by category to studio standards: apparel, linen, liquor, jewellery, lifestyle product and more.
    • Light skin retouching on model and close-up shots where required.
    • Keep retouching natural. The work should look clean, not plastic or over-processed.

    Handover and admin

    • Upload finished images to Google Drive under the correct division and brand folder, using studio naming conventions.
    • Share folder links with the Retoucher and Studio Manager for review, and apply revert feedback promptly.
    • Perform weekly backups of RAW and working files.
    • Keep your pipeline updated in Asana, log progress accurately, and stay in sync with the team on Google Chat.
    • Update the studio forecast and image counts daily.

    Communication and team

    • Liaise with the Retoucher about work handovers, priorities and feedback.
    • Flag any issues, missing files, unclear briefs or technical problems early.
    • Ask questions. The team would rather you ask than guess.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • 2–4 years' experience in retouching, photo editing, or a closely related role.
    • Formal training or a relevant qualification in photography, design, digital imaging, or a related field is advantageous.
    • A portfolio of retouched work that demonstrates attention to detail, clean finishes, and a natural editing style.
    • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, including selections, masking, clone and patch tools, Liquify, and Gaussian Blur.
    • Familiarity with Capture One or another RAW processor, with a willingness to learn our workflow.
    • A good eye for colour, exposure, and detail.
    • Comfortable using Adobe Bridge, Google Workspace, and Google Drive. Experience with Asana is an advantage.

    • Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, 24-hour production environment.
    • A clear and honest communicator who asks questions when needed and works collaboratively within a small creative team.
