How You’ll Make an Impact  

General

• Successfully applies a broad knowledge to complex concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialisation.
• Completes complex design, development and implementation of new and emerging technologies, platforms and service.
• Performs research and advises on an existing or emerging technology and associated services and processes.
• Conducts analysis in support of a complex technical DCS Architecture project.
• Completes complex product configuration guidelines, training, rollout and implementation support for technical DCS Architecture projects and relating Client Proposals.
• Identifies and resolves complex problems related to process and technology and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations.
• Overall, provides technical leadership and mentoring of engineering staff to ensure efficient accomplishment of goals and objectives.

Within the scope of the tasks:

• Plans the required activities.
• Prepares reports and documentation of the results.
• Analyses the system behaviour and the interaction of single elements.
• Executes the hand-over to the customer personnel and their briefing.
• May make optimizations of disciplines.
• May contribute as test engineer to admittances, routine and type tests.
• May perform or support the determination or specification of the required test equipment.
• May control the mentioned tasks and /or provide supervisory guidance at site.
• Be able to travel at short notice to plants that require fast support.
• Travelling in South Africa and on the Continent likely (up to 60%).

Project Specific, be responsible for:

Various principal areas of responsibilities are (not exhaustive):

• Work in a team or as a group lead role during proposal, engineering and commissioning phases.
• Interface to client or other OEM experts related to the Siemens Energy function.

Engineering –

• Interpret input data and engineer project specific deliverables based on the input data and contract requirements.
• Accurately report on status and deliverables.
• Documentation as per requirements with the responsibility through to acceptance.
• Apply Best Practices throughout.

Commissioning –

• Put into service specific parts of the deliverables working in or leading a larger team.
• Be skilled within the DCS Architecture in Administration with extensive knowledge of complex networks and 3rd Party interfaces.
• Specifically, be responsible for the areas where engineering was done ensuring continuity.
• Working with different PLC types as far as possible, ideally including SIMATIC S7 PLCs.
• Accurately report on status and deliverables.
• Documentation as per requirements with the responsibility through to acceptance.
• Writing of reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ensure ongoing education and development of both self and others with knowledge transfer.

What You Bring 

• Minimum BEng/BSc degree in Computer, Electronic, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
• Minimum 10 years’ experience with Pr.Eng -OR- 12 years and in the process of applying for Pr.Eng in the short term.
• Experience working in project leadership role.
• An Engineer who has a strong IIT/OT background in DCS (Distributed Control System) systems architecture, commissioning and administration thereof.
• Has been involved in several projects in areas ideally including engineering design, commissioning, and documentation; Energy Sector exposure advantageous.
• Is an expert in a DCS system, e.g., the main products in SPPA-T3000 as well as related products like Plant Information Systems, Cyber Security, Network set up – all critical use tools for Siemens Energy
• A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the instrumentation and controls engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields
• Experienced in / Exposed to topics involving Functional Safety and Process Optimisation.
• Ability to build effective working relationships (customer and colleague), persuade and influence, and problem-solve complex issues

How You’ll Make an Impact  

• Oversee the achievement of budget targets for the assigned territory while performing essential Customer Management tasks.
• Manage tactical processes supporting opportunity development within the assigned territory, including sales data management, adherence to company’s sales protocols, supporting the rollout of initiatives, and collaborating with other client managers to drive new and expand existing business.
• Build and manage relationships with Customers and all internal and external stakeholders; contribute to the development of an After Sales Service strategy centered on Customers’ needs.
• Ensure understanding and compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures among direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.
• Monitor sales team performance, identify performance gaps, and support performance improvement initiatives. Drive the performance and development process for all team members.
• Provide regular status reports and updates to function head and local management.

What You Bring 

• Minimum of 8 years of Sales experience.
• University degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge or experience with mechanics and rotating machinery (Gas and Steam Turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors) will be an advantage.
• Goal-oriented, experienced in managing diverse teams, and adept at customer relationship management.
