    BC Senior English Teacher - JHB North

    The requirements for this position are: 

    • A proven academic record and appropriate experience, including Grade 8 – 12 English teaching
    • A sound knowledge and capability of delivering both the FET and GET curriculum for English
    • Previous experience in an IEB school would be a distinct advantage, as would experience in IEB Matric marking
    • Willingness to embrace rapid changes in education and an interest and ability to integrate IT and online approaches into your teaching and learning
    • A high level of organisational, managerial and administrative skills
    • A passion for teaching and for the young people whose learning you would be expected to inspire
    • A willingness to work within the Christian ethos of the College and the values upheld by the College
    • An unequivocal commitment to working as part of an accomplished team of enthusiastic educators and to develop exciting and creative material
    • A suitable professional qualification and a minimum of 5 years appropriate educational experience
    • A sound and progressive understanding of the South African curriculum and international trends in education
    • A commitment to on-going personal and professional development
    • An awareness of the nature of the school and willingness to commit to its all-round ethos, co-curricular activities and pastoral approach

    Junior Audio/Visual Technician - JHB North

    The duties will include, but are not limited to:

    • Setup and provide support for all the technical AV requirements needed for internal events, and external events hosted on campus.
    • This excludes but is not limited to sound, projectors, basic lighting, etc.
    • Setting up and striking down of sound and lighting equipment.
    • Setting up data projector and screen.
    • Technical management of small to medium size events.
    • Loading and offloading AV vehicle and storeroom.
    • Attending events meetings and planning event setups.
    • Troubleshooting equipment faults in various venues.
    • Transporting and collecting AV equipment.
    • Liaising with staff/outside event organizers regarding their respective events or functions and providing technical support
    • Attending to special requests by presenters or organizers
    • Transport, setup, preparation, and strike of necessary equipment for each function/event
    • Operation of Equipment during events: Sound desk, Amps, Projectors, Laptop, Live streaming, etc.

    Requirements:

    The requirements for this position are:

    • A matric certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent
    • A suitable professional qualification and generalist experience in a similar environment would be a distinct advantage.
    • A driver’s license
    • Sound/Lighting Diploma advantageous
    • Minimum one year experience in sound and events industry
    • Customer service orientation
    • Previous events management experience is advantageous
    • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and to work weekends and evenings on a regular basis
    • Computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Google Suite, Windows and Mac OS Operating Systems
    • Critical thinker, clear use of initiative and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and in a team
    • Good time-management skills and ability to affectively plan your day and prioritize your duties. 
    • Deadline orientated, ability to work effectively under pressure and extended hours when necessary
    • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
    • Friendly and interactive
    • Great attention to detail
    • Good command of English in spoken and written form
    • Committing to work within the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College, as well as participating in the broader life of St Stithians College
    • Good physical health and ability to lift heavy sound and lighting equipment
    • A police clearance, sexual offender’s clearance certificate
