Key Outputs and Responsibilities:
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
- Provide specialist support for coaching, mentoring and knowledge transfer of machine operation to shift based teams
- This will include standby, day shift and when requested after a time frame that standby will need expert advice or support
- Where requested, assist as a functional expert in problem solving for the plant and support to zone

PLANNED MAINTENANCE

- Assist fellow team members in the execution of their tasks in during planned maintenance windows

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
- Partake in ATO cleaning, lubrication and inspection in accordance with the maintenance schedule issued by the Maintenance Planner must be resolved using the appropriate problem-solving techniques
- Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule where problems have been uncovered during routine maintenance, these required, additional resources may be called in to assist
- Where problems have been uncovered, and it is required to include the work in the planned maintenance schedule, this must be communicated to the Maintenance Controller & Maintenance Planner
- Carry out condition monitoring activities where these have been allocated to the Technician in accordance with the ZCM schedule
PROBLEM SOLVING
- Where problems have occurred during routine activities, apply the correct problem-solving approach to resolve
- Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request take part, as functional expert, in AB- Report, SDCA and PDCA on request
HOUSEKEEPING AND SAFETY
- Operate in a safe manner at all times, and identify and highlight unsafe work practices so that these may be corrected

RUNNING REPAIRS

- This may include internal resources such as Instrument
- Technicians or Inspection and coding specialist or external resources such as Contractors or Suppliers
- Where repairs indicate that major work is required, such as re-wiring a motor, this must be transferred to the engineering workshop for attention
- Verify that where running repairs have been carried out, this has addressed the problem
- Complete the administration tasks relating to any running repairs that the Technician has carried out

- Complete all administration and maintenance systems tasks required supporting the management of routine maintenance schedules
- Provide feedback on the efficiency of routine maintenance tasks to the shift and engineering teams, and highlight non-compliance and problems that need to be addressed
- Order spares for maintenance day execution and follow up
- Follow up on outstanding spares if needed
Maintenance systems management:
- Where necessary, take part in the commissioning of new maintenance systems, or changes to the current maintenance system
- Manage the maintenance systems, ensuring operational and data integrity and correct use of the system
- Plan required maintenance work using the maintenance system, generating the required schedules and associated works orders
- Generate required maintenance reports, including SAP reports and communicate to key stakeholders
- Capture required data on the maintenance systems
- Data must be verified for accuracy and completeness
- Conduct analysis on maintenance data to identify failure modes and root causes of maintenance problems, and to identify problems timeously
- Where analysis of maintenance data indicates a need to carry out work, this information must be communicated to the engineering team and included in the planned maintenance schedules
Maintenance planner:
- Facilitate and lead the planned maintenance pre-meeting
- Work required, problems to be addressed and resource requirements must be discussed
- Plan all required work on the planned maintenance schedule
- Ad hoc tasks should be included and prioritized, and relevant works requests generated
- Determine resource requirements to complete work and assign tasks to specific resources
- Interaction with departmental heads to obtain resources may be required
- Partake in planned maintenance period in support of maintenance team and assist with problem solving, work prioritization and resource re-allocation
- Reschedule incomplete work to the next planned maintenance period and capture all required information from planned maintenance period on the maintenance systems
- Facilitate and lead the maintenance post mortems. Problems encountered, opportunities identified, and lessons learned should be discussed
Problem solving:
- Where problems have occurred during routine and planned maintenance activities, apply the correct problem-solving approach to resolve
- Where required, call in additional resources to assist in problem solving or escalate to engineer for direction
- Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request
- Take part, as functional expert, in FFA's on request
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years Production Engineering experience with 3 years in supervisory level
- PC literate (Proficiency in Microsoft Project/Microsoft Office Applications)

Minimum Requirements:
- Post Matric Tertiary Qualification e.g., National Diploma or equivalent in engineering
- N6 Engineering studies
- Trade Certificate
- Min - SAP (Where applicable) and Voyager Plant Optimisation (VPO)
- Minimum 2 years in FMCG environment
- Min - 3 months on the job training
- Completion of a SAB packaging Traineeship
