About the role

The HRBP for Bushveld Vanchem will provide end to end HR generalist support to all stakeholders on site. The incumbent shall have the breadth and depth of experience across the HR Value Chain to effectively guide and support both employees and line managers on matters pertaining to HR. To tactically support the Senior HR Manager in the implementation of HR Operational plans and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Bushveld Vanchem Management Team in the Human Resources value chain i.e. Recruitment, Employee on-boarding, HR Induction, Performance management, Employee relations, Employee wellness, HR Reporting, Exit processes, HR administration etc.
• Work with the site HRM to implement the functional HR strategy to support the business
• Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding of new employees and labour budget management functions
• Maintain personnel records and associated human resource information systems
• Align HR functions to the training functions
• Ensure that all HR activities comply with the relevant legislation. Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures
• Design or amend policies and procedures as per the functional requirements of the business
• Oversee Employee relations by maintaining sound employee relations policies, procedures and practices in line with the applicable legislations i.e Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA)
• Coordinate the Partnership Forums and union/management monthly meetings
• Work with Group ER to coordinate and Lead annual wage negotiations with Labour union
• Represent the Company in disciplinary/grievance to ensure due process in line with company policy
• Represent the company at conciliation/arbitration cases at the CCMA
• Coordinate/implement performance and talent management systems.
• Conduct/coordinate psychometric assessments for recruitment and development purposes.
• Compile monthly reports to the Vanchem management and Group HR
• Compile the EE and Skills development reports for submission to the applicable SETA, DOL.
• Provide support and guidance to management on workplace policies and procedures, staff performance and disciplinary matters.

About you

• B-degree in Human Resource Management/Industrial Psychology or similar
• Post graduate qualification will be an added advantage
• 8 years’ experience in an HR generalist position
• At least 5 years experience in the mining or manufacturing industry
• Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, Excel, (PowerPoint)
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport
• Alignment of own values to those of the business
• Own behaviour to reflect the highest standards of ethics and allegiance to Company policies

About the role

The Head of Business Development of Bushveld Energy is responsible for originating, developing and commercializing energy storage projects across Africa, including building and developing her/his supporting team.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development:

• overseeing assessment activities such as scoping, feasibility, and business case development.
• managing planning efforts such as concept design, impact assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
• developing the project and the portfolio in line with best practice in the renewable energy and energy storage investment sector.
• developing project development processes, documentation and outputs to support the Bushveld Energy business model.
• defining terms of agreements, including purchase and sale agreements and negotiating Power Purchase Agreements and Financial Agreements;
• working with Financial Analyst to define and to keep up-to-date financial models of the projects under development;
• working with Technical Project Manager to design and delivery hybrid energy and energy storage solutions;
• completing all commercial and contractual activities required for effective operations.
• leading design, procurement, fabrication, installation and testing and commissioning.
• performing project handover and transfer to operations;
• have a view towards the future asset management of the portfolio in line with delivering value to the Bushveld Energy shareholders.

Relationship Management:

• development and maintenance of relationships with local partners, EPC companies, renewable energy project developers , funding agencies, regulators, etc.
• establishing and managing relationship with O&M firms
• establishing and managing relationship with capital markets space from funders to investment to support projects.
• managing relationships with industry and market stakeholders.
• determining and overseeing formal partnerships, agreements, JV’s, etc.
• participating in and attending industry events, activities, university, etc.

Strategy and Business Development:

• evaluating customers, competitors, and other market/industry influencers; understanding market trends and change; determining sectors, services, and products the organization should operate; and tacking organization’s competence, capabilities, and resources to ensure competitive advantage.
• managing evaluation process identifying projects which meet organizational strategy.
• Leading proposal process from document preparation to bid submission, and further client correspondence.
• preparing marketing material to support customer discussions.
• managing the the tender of projects including legal, technical, financing, safety, health, social and environmental aspects;
• ensuring that any bidding initiative and all projects comply with local legislation and Bushveld strategic requirements;
• understanding project documentation and negotiating competitive pricing proposals with customers/ offer to customer. This includes having or being able to acquire knowledge of local permitting application processes including filing, follow ups and gathering information regarding the energy sector in the different African countries.
• understanding of the legislation pertaining to renewable energy investments and energy storage investments in the market and to monitor regularly their developments.

About you

• Bachelor of Science (or equivalent degree) in Engineering, Business or related field required;
• 4-6 years’ experience in the Renewable Energy Power Generation sector, especially solar photovoltaic;
• Project Management experience, entrepreneurial mindset and proven ability to build relationships in multiple African countries, especially outside of South Africa;
• Experience with energy storage / batteries a plus but not required;
• Additional experience in the electric power sector, such as grid planning and operation, micro-grids, is an added advantage;
• Well versed in financial modelling and understanding of Project Finance (although significant support will be provided by the rest of the team);
• Strong communication and negotiation skills. This includes very good verbal and written English language skills. Strong preference will be given to candidates with fluency in French.
