Internship Programme at Sappi

Position details:

Sappi is offering recent data science graduates a two year in-service training programme. As an Engineer in Training in Data Science you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop advanced analytics solutions
• Get involved in projects such as digital twins, diagnostics, soft sensors, visual algorithms and predictive control models. 
• Find ways to use data science to reduce process instability in real time. 
• Collaborate with Sappi colleagues in South Africa, North America and Europe. 

Sappi Engineers in Training are supported by competent and committed mentors. 

Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Data Science or Statistics or a related field.
• Knowledge of Large Language Models would be advantageous.
• No prior work experience is required

The main responsibilities of the job:

• Maintain vendor contract, contact and service level master data including BBBEE records.
• Source, procure and expedite delivery of materials as instructed according to Sappi's standard operating procedures.
• Prepare procurement reports.
• Report supplier non-conformance in terms of their contract obligations or service levels.

The ideal candidate must have:

• Grade 12/Matric qualification
• Degree in Commerce, Commercial Law, Finance, Supply Chain or Procurement
• Degree subjects must include Advanced Analytics or Data Science
• No prior experience required
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams)

The main responsibilities of the job:

• Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to spatial data requirements.
• Assist in maintaining spatial data and various spatial analyses.
• Provide service to Sappi business units regarding spatial queries.
• Complete basic remote sensing analytics.

The ideal candidate must have:

• Degree in Geoinformatics or Environmental Sciences with GIS as a major subject
• No prior experience required
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
