    Hardware Engineer

    Job description

    you will be a critical part of the team developing RFID based products. The role requires extensive analogue & digital hardware development, as well as debug experience. A background in Microchip & ARM based systems is an advantage. You will be responsible for developing analogue / digital systems, including simulations, layout analysis, component selection, design for testability, and liaison to move to volume manufacture. An ideal candidate should have open mind set, be flexible, focused on quality and open to switching to different projects. Our culture is characterized by short decision paths, clear targets and team spirit. We work in multinational environment so fluent English in speaking and writing is a must. Limited international travel is likely.

    Responsibilities

    • As member of the electronic design team, be involved in the complete product development cycle, from the initial stages of the design to production transfer.
    • Working with cutting edge RFID / mobile access technologies: BTSmart (BLE), UHF / HF and LF RFID technology; Circuit / PCB design.
    • Co-develop and enforce hardware development standards.
    • Develop and document hardware architecture and interfaces. Development & execution of comprehensive test plans for design validation. Formal report writing.
    • Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to get things done.
    • Work together with team leads to plan and execute projects, ensure that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.
    • Participate in general laboratory and test/development duties assigned.
    • Produce design documentation such as Bill Of Materials, assemblies, and fabrication drawings.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated electronic design engineering experience.
    • Proficient with RF CAD tools.
    • Proficient with PCB design tools such as Altium / Orcad.
    • Proficient with simulation packages such as PSpice and CST Studio.
    • Proficient in mixed mode design.
    • Proficient in the development, manufacturing & test processes for complex multi-layer PCB assemblies.
    • Proficient in the use of common electronic equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, spectrum analysers, network analysers.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify problems & to provide solutions with minimal direction.
    • Programming languages (Python / C / C++) a plus.
    • Language Skills
      • Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.
      • Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.

    To promote and Sell all Impro Products to dealers and to expand dealer base.

    Duties And Responsibilities

    Include the following, other duties may be assigned:

    • Planning
    • Analyses of the market to develop effective marketing plans, activities and promotions.
    • Develop dealer oriented marketing strategies.
    • To increase dealer base.
    • Establish objectives.
    • Implement information-disseminating system.
    • Increase decision taker awareness of Impro products
    • Dealer, consultant co-operation.
    • Develop new markets.
    • Develop new markets for all Impro products.
    • Develop brand awareness at end-user level.
    • Organizing
    • Be a full competent self-starter, able to work effectively and completely without supervision
    • Service, maintain and develop existing dealer network.
    • Assist dealers to sell through both push (direct to installer) and pull (support consultant/specifiers)
    • Ensure that dealer employees are trained on Impro products.
    • Support dealers at trade shows and running regular dealer meetings to obtain feedback.
    • Grading and monitoring of dealers.
    • Setting targets for dealers.
    • Ensuring that all new products are demonstrated and discussed with dealers and that software and hardware upgrades are made available to dealers.
    • Supply Impro product manuals to dealers and ensuring that these are updated on a regular basis.
    • Maintain records of all contacts and reporting on a daily basis on any interaction with these contacts.
    • Maintain fully accurate and dependable CRM/ Salesforce records.
    • Follow up on all opportunities with distributors and ensure effective translate of interest to order.
    • Marketing.
    • Arrange training meetings for dealers to enhance product knowledge.
    • Call on dealers on a regular basis
    • Ensure high levels of customer service and support.
    • Visit tender boards regularly, where possible.
    • Receive copies of all tenders and ensure there is follow up by distributors and installers
    • Administration
    • Maintain efficient paperwork.
    • Keep and update all records daily.
    • Sales bulletin, routine reports. CRM/Salesforce

    Qualifications

    Education And/or Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience required.
    • Thorough understanding of the electronic security and access control industry.
    • At least 5 years' experience in a high tech industry, in a senior sales, marketing or technical support role.
    • Must be able to handle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
    • Strong abilities in problem solving, analysis and decision making.
    • Exemplary client service skills with the ability to maintain and extend client relationships.
    • Must have exceptional English communication skills, both written and oral. Fluency in any of the additional South African languages would be advantageous.
    • Well-developed inter-personal skills and experience in interacting with various stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.
    • Computer Skills
    • Must be proficient in MS Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook etc.
    • Should be familiar with the Microsoft Windows operating system.
    • Experience in project management tools, such as MS Project would be advantageous.
    • Experience in CRM would be advantageous.
