    Desktop Assessor

    Key Purpose

    • To investigate and validate motor and non-motor claims to determine validity based on the Discovery Insure contract.

    Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to

    • Motor and non-motor validation within predetermined mandates
    • Accurate compiling of reports with findings and recommendations for line management to make an informed decision.
    • Quantify motor and non-motor losses accurately and facilitate the process between the broker and/or client.
    • Liaise with Service Providers and provide back-office support to claims consultants.

    • Minimum of 1 year claims motor and non-motor short term insurance investigation experience outside of Discovery Insure (Advantageous)

    Renewals Actuary

    Key Purpose of the role

    • The creation, implementation and execution of the renewal strategy for our Group Risk schemes and execution of renewal strategy for our Umbrella Fund schemes. Improving our processes and understanding market behaviour to support the business to maintain as many of our existing clients as possible.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
    The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to the following job functions:

    • Create a renewal strategy that is in keeping with maintaining our existing Group Risk portfolio lapse rate while maximizing premiums.
    • Support the implementation of this renewal strategy using updated tools, making sure the tools give the correct outcomes and consistent outcomes across various parts of the renewal process. From claims experience given to market, claims analysis completed and presentations produced.
    • Execute the renewal strategy through the existing pre-renewal processes to release renewals 90 days before the renewal date of the scheme’s anniversary.
    • Improvement of the pre-renewal process to make the process as smooth as possible.
    • Commercial decision making on requests for rate reductions on existing business, taking into account the composite objectives of maximizing premium while minimizing lapses, and understanding the broker and market forces impacting each decision.
    • Track market feedback and renewals rates that are implemented given competitors positioning in the market.
    • Building sufficient tools to monitor the competitor landscape for use in the strategy for renewals as well as new business
    • Supporting large renewal increases with detailed pricing and with supportive presentations to be delivered by the renewals actuary, or the Head of product, Pricing and data integrity or the Chief Commercial Officer.
    • Building relationships with service consultants, brokers and clients.
    • Execute renewal strategy from the Umbrella Funds team for existing Umbrella fund clients.
    • Producing lapse analysis for the various committees on a quarterly basis and presenting in the various forums.
    • Do 6 monthly analysis on the renewals completed and the extra income this created for the business and reporting on the progress to CEB Exco.
    • Comprehensive lapse analysis including competitor rates, to understand whether we need to change New Business strategy or renewal strategy and present this to CEB Exco.
    • Management Information on team’s performance.
    • Actively reducing the number of queries coming into the team with monthly feedback to the internal teams, changing processes and education.
    • Knowledge of all the risk factors such as occupation and industry, admin and profit factors and their interdependency.
    • Knowledge of pricing components of the Umbrella business
    • Preparation and distribution of quote documents for Group Risk and or Umbrella.
    • Illustration of the value proposition of Discovery’s benefit enhancements.

    Education and Experience

    • Matric
    • Qualified Actuary
    • 2 or more years of actuarial Group Risk pricing or evaluations experience
    • Experience in Group Risk, Umbrella Funds or Individual Life recommended.
    • Knowledge of Power BI, Excel, Compass administration system and ESQS pricing system (advantageous)
    • SQL Experience
    • Professional Registration - ASSA/Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
    • Advanced - Statistical knowledge
    • Advanced - Keen knowledge of the insurance industry. Trends, new developments and other underwriter’s objectives

    Multimedia Designer

    Job Purpose

    • To lead the design and delivery of high‑quality multimedia content that advances business and learning objectives, strengthens brand presence, and enhances user engagement. The role balances hands‑on creative production with light‑touch people leadership, project management, and vendor/stakeholder engagement, ensuring outputs are on‑brand, user‑centred, measurable, and scalable.

    Key Responsibilites

    Creative production and quality:

    • Conceptualise, design, and produce graphics, motion, video, and interactive content for campaigns, eLearning, leadership programs, internal comms, and events.
    • Translate complex ideas into clear visual narratives, storyboards, and prototypes.
    • Own quality control (visual consistency, technical checks, accessibility basics, formatting for platforms).
    • Maintain a design system (templates, libraries, reusable assets) and contribute to brand evolution.

    Project Management:

    • Scope work (requirements, user needs, constraints), create project plans, estimates, and production schedules.
    • Run stand‑ups/check‑ins, track progress, manage risks, and escalate early; keep documentation up to date.
    • Coordinate cross‑functional partners (content, learning designers, SMEs, comms, tech) to land milestones on time and within budget.
    • Report on KPIs (e.g., delivery lead time, revision cycles, engagement metrics, satisfaction scores).

    People Management & Capability Building

    • Provide day‑to‑day guidance to interns and staff level designers and freelancers; assign tasks, review outputs, and mentor on tools and craft.
    • Conduct constructive critiques and peer reviews; promote design best practices and a growth mindset.
    • Contribute to hiring (portfolio screening, task design, interview feedback).
    • Build internal ways of working: playbooks, SOPs, templates, and training sessions.

    External Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement

    • Engage and manage external suppliers (production studios, voice‑over artists, illustrators, animators): briefs, quotes, scopes, SLAs, and quality standards.
    • Represent the design function with business stakeholders; run workshops, present concepts, manage expectations, and negotiate trade‑offs.
    • Ensure compliance with brand, IP, licensing, and usage rights across all assets.

    Platform Readiness, Accessibility & Compliance

    • Export, package, and optimise media for target platforms (web, mobile, LMS, social, event screens).
    • Apply accessibility basics (captions, contrast, readable typography, pacing).
    • Adhere to information security, data privacy, and brand governance.

    Other Collaborations

    • Provide Multimedia Services to the Discovery Institute of Training Teams when developing creative material for their requirements.

    Experience
