    Field Service Technician

    Role Purpose: 

    • Performs advanced technical service including troubleshooting, in complex and complicated matters, of site equipment, machinery, systems and processes to ensure their continuous functionality.

    Your responsibilities

    • Awareness of financial implications through ensuring site and commissioning costs are within the estimated value by the Control of sub suppliers site costs, managing site instructions and extra claims, controlling actual service hours within the estimated hours.
    • To ensure equipment is operational as per design and that equipment is installed as per design specifications and QCP.
    • Commission equipment to ensure operations are within design specifications and safety standards then handover to client with necessary documentation and provide the necessary close close out reports.
    • Develop, update templates for FLSmidth equipment inspections and deviation list and submit to clients / internally. 
    • Marketing and sales of own expertise.
    • Evaluates machinery, equipment, systems and processes performance in order to make decisions regarding the need for operational maintenance in a technically highly sophisticated environment.
    • Troubleshoots operational maintenance problems of machinery, equipment, systems and processes to secure continuous proper functionality.
    • Makes suggestions for upgrades of machinery, equipment, systems and processes to ensure continuous functionality.
    • Performs tests of machinery, equipment, systems and processes to ensure their functionality.
    • Performs inspections/service assignments of minerals processes to assess the need for maintenance.
    • Be willing to perform work in underground conditions and extended working hours.
    • Prepared to work outside the borders of SA for extended periods.
    • Perform site service administrations as required for site and office specific tasks. 
    • Provide support to site sales.
    • Effective communication/ liaison with client and manage expectations

    What you bring

    • Mechanical Technical Qualification (N3 with red seal trade test ) minimum requirement / National Diploma.
    • > 2 yrs experience in supervision position will be advantageous.
    • Experience in at least one of the following product lines is essential: HPGR/Crushing/Milling/Liquid solid separation
    • Thorough knowledge of equipment, products, site operations and maintenance.
    • >3 years’ working experience in the engineering discipline.  
    • Computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Projects.

    Customer Service Representative

    • The Sales Support Administrator supports the External Sales Team in sales activities and general administrative tasks in order to create an efficient sales function.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Prepares quotes and pricing to customers of a less technical nature based on receipt of RFQ’s
    • Collaborates with the External Sales department on more technically complex RFQ’s to ensure technical information, products and pricing are appropriate and correct for customer needs.
    • Interacts directly with clients to define scope and pricing of service.
    • Develops and maintains relationships with assigned customer accounts and coordinates customer support based on requests.
    • Follows up on quotes and pricing supplied to customers and secures orders.
    • Controls Consignment stock.
    • Handles all orders received from the assigned customers and territories from Birth to Death.

    Requirements 

    • Relevant Technical Degree
    • Certificate / Diploma in Sales or Marketing will be advantageous
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Sales environment.
    • Experience in a technical environment will be beneficial.
    • Knowledge of the FLSmidth products and technical solutions will be advantageous.
    • Experience in the mining supply/steel manufacturing industry (Advantageous).
    • Experience on a MRP
    • Computer Literate in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.
    • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven negotiation and influencing skills – both external and internal.
    • Pro-active, detailed focused and takes initiative.

    Head of Field Services Africa

    Responsibilities: 

    • Organize, control and lead field services business in Sales Area, manage a team of Field Service Engineers or Technicians
    • Field services P&L in the Sales Area.
    • Quotations preparation for field service and related offerings for Customers in the region.
    • Timeous, safe, efficient and economic effective execution of the field service jobs in the region.
    • Customers relationship and liaison, development of field services business in the region.
    • Liase with internal stakeholders at different levels.
    • Develop and maintain reporting system for the region.
    • Develop and motivate personnel.
    • Support FLS Spares, Wears, Upgrade&Rebuild business development in the region

    Qualifications required:

    • Engineering diploma/degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
    • At least 10 years of mining industry experience in maintenance and operation of mining plant and at least 5 years of managerial experience and interaction with Customers.
    • Thorough knowledge of equipment, products, site operations and maintenance especially mills, crusher, thickeners, pumps, cyclones and flotation cells.
    • Strong commercial and financial understanding.   
    • Good communication skills and ability to liase with clients and internal stakeholders at different levels.
    • Ability to travel.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in English. Other language skills are more than welcome.
    • Well-founded on the Microsoft Office platform
