    Legal and Compliance Officer, Centurion

    About this position

    • iMasFinance, is a financial services Cooperative, is looking for a Legal and Compliance Officer. This position reports to the Head: Legal and Compliance, and its main purpose is to  provide overall business enhancement by ensuring the legal contractual and regulatory requirements are adhered to, and to monitor compliance with relevant legislation in the financing environment of iMas.
    • The successful candidate will be an innovative, dynamic and energetic self-starter with seasoned experience in their the legal environment.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Job Outputs:

    Legal

    • Provide legal advice, analysis and/or opinions on all legal matters.
    • Identify any legal issues and impact that may arise from the changing regulatory landscape.
    • Update existing legal policies on an annual basis and provide to for approval and sign off

    Regulatory Compliance

    • Formulate, implement and maintain a risk-based compliance plan on an annual basis.
    • Conduct regular compliance monitoring exercises.
    • Update existing compliance policies on an annual basis and provide to for approval and sign off.
    • Manage complaints from the relevant regulatory bodies.
    • Promote and sustain an ethical compliance culture.

    Reports

    • Prepare reports on legal and compliance matters when called upon to do so.

    Training

    • Provide input on legal and compliance related topics and policies to HR for training purposes

    Stakeholder Management

    • Consult and collaborate with all relevant external and internal stakeholders.

    Contract Management

    • Develop, implement and maintain a document management strategy.
    • Manage of internal policies and guidelines (version control, change management).

    People Management

    • Complete Individual Development Plan.
    • Attend learning and development courses.
    • Participate in peer and team learning initiatives.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (LLB or B Proc) is essential
    • Compliance Institute Membership
    • Admitted attorney
    • Valid Code 08 Driver’s license

    Experience:

    • 7 years operational experience in contract management 

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Computer literacy (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
    • Relevant legislation and regulatory bodies
    • The Co-operatives Act, the Companies Act and the Consumer Protection Act)
    • Applicable legislation (National Credit Act, POPI Act, Consumer Act)
    • Formulating strategies and concepts
    • Report writing skills

    Senior Underwriting Consultant: Short Term Insurance

    About the Role

    • We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and customer service driven Senior Underwriting Consultant to join our Customer Service Department in our Short-term Insurance Division at our Contact Centre in Centurion.
    • As a Senior Underwriting Consultant, you will be responsible delivering exceptional performance and ensuring business objectives are met through effective and efficient customer service. Your expertise will inspire excellence in customer centricity, enhance productivity. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all administrative and underwriting functions on new and existing member's profiles and by provide accurate advice regarding risk and cover.

     Job Outputs:

    • Assess the risks associated with new business and renewals, determining appropriate coverage and premiums.
    • Liaise with insurers and members to offer competitive and profitable insurance policies.
    • Analyse underwriting guidelines and standards, ensuring that policies are properly underwritten.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant insurance regulations and company policies
    • Provide efficient and effective claims support and administration
    • Ensure efficient and accurate advice is provided, in line with FAIS legislation
    • Handle escalated queries and complaints
    • Ensure adherence to risk and compliance requirements
    • Ensure service levels agreements are met
    • Ensure the retention of policies and members
    • Upselling on existing business

    Required Qualifications:

    • National Senior Certificate/ Matric 
    • FAIS credits on NQF level 4 or a full FSCA aligned qualification as per legislation
    • Regulatory examination 5: Representative (RE5)

    Required Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years' applicable Personal Lines Short-term Insurance Underwriting/Claims experience
    • Minimum 1 year Contact Centre experience
