    Planning Specialist

    Purpose of Role:

    • To ensure efficient production, inventory, and material planning by coordinating schedules, analysing demand, optimising resources, and maintaining accurate data in the ERP system.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Technical Planning, Scheduling & SAP Management: Oversees financial budgeting for Planning; develops and manages MPS; aligns production plans with capacity, labour, machine uptime and materials; performs capacity planning; manages subcontract planning and control; ensures Lean implementation; audits Logistics/Planning/Purchasing; maintains job pack quality; manages MRP action messages, production order alignment and visual management tools; expedites lower‑level components; manages ERP item loading, subcontract orders, and ensures accurate material postings, routings, physical counts, reconciliations, variance analysis and master data accuracy.
    • Operational Excellence, Reporting & Stakeholder Management: Manages daily logistics and planning functions including review of MRP data, lead times, production orders and KPI‑driven load management; drives cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement; maintains and improves pull systems for MTS and MTO; manages SAP system reports; liaises with Sales, Projects, Procurement, Exports, Warehouse and Branches to resolve supply queries; communicates manufacturing progress to internal customers; advises Production Managers on planning matters; and ensures on‑time delivery to customer and stakeholder requirements.
    • Systems, Continuous Improvement & Governance: Drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to improve flow, efficiency, cost, and quality. Develop and implement improved planning processes, information systems, and automated workflows.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

    • Degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.

    • Solid Project/Programme Management experience.

    Production Facilitator

    Purpose of Role:

    • Drive operational excellence by analysing performance data and leading improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency, in alignment with strategic business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Ensure smooth daily production and systems workflow: Maintain continuity between digital systems (SAP, MES:42Q, operational dashboards) and physical shop-floor processes, ensuring that production runs reliably and efficiently.
    • Drive cross‑functional coordination: Collaborate closely with teams across the operation—including shop floor, logistics, quality, engineering, costing, procurement, and key user communities to ensure alignment on daily priorities, system updates, and issue resolution.
    • Troubleshoot system and process discrepancies: Identify and resolve misalignments between what is happening on the shop floor and what appears in the digital systems. Address root causes and implement corrective actions to maintain data integrity and process accuracy.
    • Champion built‑in quality (BIQ) across production processes:
    • Support in embedding quality at every step of the production workflow. Support adherence to quality standards, monitor in‑process checks, escalate deviations early, and reinforce right‑first‑time practices.
    • Provide actionable cost and variance analysis that links expenses and recoveries to production performance, enabling leaders to make informed decisions that improve productivity, reduce unit costs, and enhance efficiency.

    Engineer: Principal Project

    Purpose of Role:

    • The Principal Project Engineer is responsible for the technical and project execution delivery of capital project orders and contracts, from initiation through to close-out.
    • The role ensures that projects are delivered in line with contractual scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and governance requirements, with a strong focus on engineering excellence, project controls, and customer satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safety & Governance:

    • Ensure full compliance with Weir policies, project governance frameworks, and standard operating procedures.

    Customer & Stakeholder Management:

    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
    • Partake in engagements on technical and commercial matters, including site visits and customer meetings where applicable.
    • Ensure clear, structured communication through defined project communication plans.
    • Manage customer interactions professionally, resolving technical and delivery issues in line with contractual commitments.

    Project & Contract Execution:

    • Execute capital project orders from initiation to close-out, excluding pre-feasibility and feasibility study phases.
    • Develop, own, and maintain the project execution plan, including scope definition, milestones, schedules, and resource requirements.
    • Coordinate cross-functional inputs across engineering, planning, manufacturing, supply chain, site services, and suppliers.
    • Ensure project delivery within approved scope, budget, and schedule parameters.

    Project Management Excellence:

    • Apply recognised project management frameworks and best practices to manage scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, and change.
    • Establish, monitor, and report on project performance metrics to ensure achievement of business and customer outcomes.
    • Manage project risks, issues, and change control processes, escalating where senior management intervention is required.

    Technical & Engineering Delivery:

    • Lead and coordinate the development of technical solutions in line with customer requirements and engineering standards.
    • Ensure design integrity, constructability, and alignment with project scope and contractual requirements.
    • Coordinate quality management activities in accordance with the project Quality Management Plan.

    Financial, Commercial & Reporting Accountability:

    • Monitor and control project costs, forecasts, and cash flow in collaboration with project controls and finance functions.
    • Accountable for achieving project milestones and cash collection targets, in close coordination with the Project Controller/Administrator.
    • Ensure contractual change is managed, documented, approved, and implemented in line with governance requirements.

    Project Close-Out:

    • Ensure all contractual deliverables are achieved and accepted by the customer.
    • Manage project handover, documentation, and close-out activities.
    • Manage change control processes, ensuring timely identification, evaluation, approval, and implementation of variations.

     Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

    • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
    • PMP Certification or equivalent project management qualification (preferred).
    • Qualification or experience in Engineering and/or Technology Management is advantageous.
    • 6 - 8 years’ experience in project execution within an engineering, project-house, or PMO environment.
    • Minimum 5 years’ proven project management experience, managing projects from initiation to close-out (small, medium, and large-scale).
    • Experience in mineral processing equipment, process plant, or material handling environments.
    • Demonstrated experience working within contractual and governance-driven project environments.

    Technical & Professional Skills:

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis capability.
    • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills across multiple stakeholder levels.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet firm deadlines.
    • High attention to detail, manage difficult customers, and ability to perform under pressure.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP system experience advantageous.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Valid Driver’s Licence
    • Willingness to travel to customer and project sites as required

    Boilermaker

    Purpose of Role:

    • To perform boilermaker work in the foundry as well as machine shop.  This will involve welding, assembling, constructing, maintaining and fabrication of all types of steel structures/brackets etc.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assemble, install, and repair all types of steel equipment using welding, fitting, and cutting techniques.
    • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate construction and repairs.
    • Perform routine maintenance, clean components, and upgrade existing equipment to improve performance or meet new standards.
    • Operate specialized equipment such as welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, cranes and heavy machinery for lifting and rigging.

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

    • Qualified Artisan.
    • Three to five years of experience working as a Boilermaker.

    Purpose of Role:

    • The HR Business Partner serves as the leading HR business partner for all employees in the Africa Region.  The primary responsibility for this role is to lead and execute on initiatives tied to talent acquisition, employee development, retention, and talent management that advance the organizational capability of the Region.

    Engineer: Production

    Purpose of Role:

    • Implement strategies to improve safety, productivity, quality and cost consistent with the business plan.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Safety First:

    • Maintain the safety of all systems and processes in the Isando plant and implement world class safety practices as guided by the Health and Safety department and senior management

    Compliance:

    • Ensure that the Machine shop complies to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85: 1993)
    • Maintain the integrity of the ISO 9001: 2008 quality assurance system within the Isando plant, including product traceability.

    Technical

    • Ensure daily alignment between shopfloor activity, MES transactions, and SAP PP/MM postings.
    • Monitor system exceptions (backflush errors, WIP variances, BOM inaccuracies) and drive corrective actions.
    • Validate and optimise routing, BOM, work centres, and production versions.
    • Ensure full digital traceability of batches, heat numbers, materials, and process parameters.
    • Lead system-related root cause investigations for data inaccuracies or posting errors.
    • Support upgrades, enhancements, and integrations between MES, SAP, and production equipment.
    • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and IE tools (e.g., VSM, time studies, line balancing, SMED, SPC) to improve throughput and reduce waste.
    • Conduct cycle time analysis, capacity studies, and bottleneck elimination.
    • Develop and maintain Standard Work, SOPs, and Work Instructions ensuring process stability.
    • Identify loss areas and implement productivity, quality, and cost reduction initiatives.
    • Lead CI projects from concept through implementation and verification of savings.
    • Ensure actual production follows defined processes, controls, and specifications.
    • Provide technical leadership during production disturbances, deviations, or quality concerns.
    • Analyse process performance data (cycle time, scrap, rework, OEE drivers) and implement corrective actions.
    • Support tooling improvement, fixture optimisation, and process capability enhancement.
    • Collaborate with Quality to ensure robust control plans, PFMEA updates, and NCR resolution.
    • Work closely with Production Supervisors/Shift Leaders to ensure process discipline.
    • Facilitate daily Tier meetings to highlight system issues, variances, and improvement actions.
    • Provide technical coaching to operators and team leaders on processes, standards, and systems usage.
    • Build a strong culture of accountability, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
    • Adherence to all statutory SHE and housekeeping requirements
    • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times

    Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

    • Degree Industrial Engineering
    • Knowledgeable in SAP and MES systems
    • Computer literate – MS Office Suite
    • 3-5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
