    Test Automation Engineer

    What You Would Do As Our Test Automation Engineer

    • You will be working as part of the agile firmware development team, focusing on Continuous Integration and Deployment of the embedded devices.

    Your daily tasks may include:

    • Setting up CI systems, including hardware in the laboratory, consisting of multiple embedded targets using Gitlab CI and Jenkins pipelines
    • Configuring CI runners with hardware in the loop
    • Optimising test environments, i.e. enabling parallel test execution
    • Defining CI, build, deployment, and testing architecture
    • Upgrading the systems
    • As a Scrum Team Member, you will participate in Scrum activities like stand-up, grooming, and retrospective & demo meetings.
    • You will regularly be in touch with the stakeholders, discussing technical aspects & requirements.

    Experience And Qualifications
    Required:

    • Development of systematic and effective test plans to ensure quality and robustness of failsafe embedded controls software.
    • Strong programming skills with the ability to write test scripts using C#/Python/Groovy/Java/Bash
    • Experience with Agile Scrum development, continuous development, and continuous integration environments.
    • Experience with software lifecycle management, including version control, build processes, release management, use of tools like Jira.
    • Demonstrated application of test automation tools and processes.
    • Contribute independently as well as in a (global) team environment

    Desired:

    • Experience with setting up of CI/CD environments
    • Experience with Git and with Git workflows, including tagging, branching, and integration
    • Experience with Jenkins including creating jobs, running scheduled builds, running scheduled and ad-hoc integration tests, and integrating Jenkins with other tools
    • Write specifications, test plans, and document designs.
    • A proactive individual demonstrate the capability to innovate, propose new ideas, show curiosity, question the status quo

    Experience And Qualifications

    • B.Sc. in Computer or Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years of industrial experience
    • M.Sc. in Computer or Electrical Engineering with 1-2 years of industrial experience (also acquired in internship or co-op)

    QA Engineer

    As our Software Quality Engineer II, you’ll support HID’s success by:

    • Collaborating with developers and other quality assurance engineers to understand and clarify software requirements, develop test cases, and develop your product knowledge.
    • Implementing HID’s automated testing tools to develop automated testing scripts and you will execute manual tests, automated tests, and performance tests.
    • Helping reproduce errors reported from the field, test fixes, and report results to management.

    Your Experience and Education should include:

    • BS in Computer Science required or equivalent experience
    • 2+ years of practical Software QA Engineering experience with Windows/Linux-based applications required
    • Experience with functional testing, automation, and regression testing
    • Experience with test planning and test case development
    • Strong background in Quality Assurance methodologies
    • Experience with white, gray, and black box testing techniques and methodologies
    • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis skills
    • Exceptional communication skills in order to articulate quality assurance practices
    • Strict attention to detail
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision with set priorities
    • Ability to set-up hardware and wiring

    We would love experience with any of the following:

    • Experience with Physical Access Control Systems is a tremendous benefit
    • Test lab and test bed development and maintenance
    • Experience with testing Web Services
    • Experience testing embedded applications
    • Good understanding of networking and ability to configure devices to connect on the network
    • Familiarity with serial communications (RS-232, RS-485)
    • Experience setting up and utilizing virtual machines
    • Experience with IoT devices
    • Familiarity with cyber security related tools and testing methodologies
