    Engineer Process Control and Development

    Services to the business unit include:

    • Identify problem areas requiring improvement as directed by business KPI’s
    • Quantify the underlying contributory causes to the problems
    • Study the problem at the hand of the contributory causes and propose solutions
    • Implement solutions including automation, mistake proofing, manufacturing procedures etc.
    • Sustain and continuously improve performance through the automated systems and processes.
    • Plan, direct and co-ordinate hot rolling process improvements linked to PC&D systems to improve quality, efficiency and availability. 
    • Investigate all modelling and control system failures and associated deviations to implement corrective and preventive actions. 
    • Implement solutions to assist with process and product development in association with Level 1 or 2, Technical and Production departments through consultation with other disciplines/departments.

    Maintain and develop the following systems:

    • Heat transfer modelling (finite element heat transfer Level 2 model) and combustion systems (Level 1).
    • Rolling modelling (Level 2): Speed, temperature, forces, torques and flatness control models (including neural network).
    • Level 1 thickness, flatness, strip cooling and coiling mostly feedback control systems. 
    • Expert System for continuous process parameter optimisation of the heating and rolling processes (including Fuzzy Logic).
    • Weekly standby on a rotational basis with the other PC&D team members.
    • Ensure compliance with the goals as defined in KPIs. 
    • Identify problems, investigate solutions and solve problem in order to achieve those goals.
    • Constantly co-ordinate process deviations with all relevant parties.
    • React and correct all substandard process conditions

    Requirements

    • B Eng. (Electrical, Metallurgical, Mechanical) or Computer Science or Computer Engineering
    • 2-5 years experience in Software development (C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, etc), specifically in the engineering control software field.
    • Knowledge of Level 2 type first principle models for heating and rolling technology.
    • Knowledge of how these Level 2 models are automatically calibrated using artificial intelligence or other simpler methods.
    • Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation is a plus.
    • Creative and strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus.
    • Enjoys working in the field of engineering solution development.

    Laboratory Millwright - Middelburg

    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Must have at least 4 years' post apprenticeship experience as a Trade tested millwright;
    • Must be able to work under pressure;
    • Must be able to work independently;
    • Must be computer literate;
    • Must be a team player, able to communicate at all levels;
    • Good experience on mechanical electrical/electronic and instrument related equipment will be an added advantage.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • The safe maintenance and fault finding on Laboratory equipment will be expected and this includes a wide range of specialized analytical, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation related equipment;
    • Experience on robotic equipment will also be an added advantage.
    • Must be able to do standby for the total laboratory regarding the above mentioned equipment.

    Secretary Ops Management

    Description

    Administration of Business Unit Requirements:

    • Prepare daily reports for the morning meetings, retrieve data from supervisory and emails and make copies.
    • Prepare month end, quarterly reports for the manager compile presentation retrieve data from supervisory and emails.
    • Draw monthly scorecard, data is gathered from supervisory system, emails and compile report.
    • Check manager’s emails and prioritise and attend to urgent emails ensure manager is in time for booked meetings.
    • Compile necessary documentation for various meetings for the manager.
    • Drafting and typing of correspondence related to the General Manager.
    • Manage diaries of General Manager.
    • Schedule and coordinate appointments and meetings.
    • Coordinate internal and external conferences.
    • Handle additional administration relative to department and function.

     Delivery/Improvement:

    • Load job cards for faulty equipment.
    • Maintain and order stationery from stores or suppliers.
    • Generate return to stores document for items to go back to main store.
    • Ensure PPE is clean.
    • Carry out cash/ cheque requisitions procedure.
    • Book entry access for visitors with the reception, accommodation and transport if required and order meals.
    • Create and maintain filing (e filing and manual) and archiving.
    • Update, circulate and coordinate department birthdays.
    • Update telephone list.
    • Organise and coordinate department functions and events.
    • Keep records of portable electrical equipment in boardrooms and offices.
    • Liaise with cleaning contractor and maintenance.
    • Coordinate and book boardrooms for meetings.
    • Organise coffees and eats for relevant meetings.
    • Responsible for the flow of information internally/externally.
    • Receive and screen calls and massages accurately.

    Requirements

     Qualification

    •  Grade 12 with Maths & Science.
    • Secretarial or any administration qualification will be advantageous.

    Minimum Experience

    • 5 Years’ senior level secretarial/administrative experience in a similar environment.

    Knowledge / Special training

    • Excellent MS Office software and Google Suite proficiency.
    • Supervisory, NCR, PeopleSoft, Intranet, Jaggaer, JDE.
    • Product knowledge, plant processes, customer/supplier relations.
    • Invoices and order processes
