    Lecturer, Information Technology

    Minimum requirements:

    • A PhD or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
    • At least 3-year lecturing experience in Higher Education.

    Desirable requirements:

    • Experienced in languages and platforms such as, C#, Java, MySQL, Python, PHP and AWS/Azure.

    Senior Lecturer, Information Technology

    Minimum requirements:

    • A Doctorate Degree, and an undergraduate study in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Manager: Talent Acquisition & Operations

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Honour’s Degree (NQF Level 8) in Human Resources Management, OR Psychology, OR Industrial Psychology, OR related field.
    • 7 years’ Experience in Human Resource Management, including sourcing and selection of employees across all levels of the organisation and enhancing performance management practices.
    • 3 years’ Experience in utilizing technology platforms and social media channels for sourcing and establishing talent pools.
    • 3 years’ Experience in managing Human Capital Services operations through a business partnering approach.

    Summary of Duties:

    Talent Acquisition Plans and Strategies

    • Develop and implement an integrated talent acquisition strategy aligned with organisational goals.
    • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes including workforce planning, job profiling, advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, selection, and offer management.
    • Develop and co-ordinate plans to ensure the timeous appointment of suitable talent.
    • Review and enhance the talent attraction strategies and methodologies. Ensure that DUT’s Employee Value Proposition remains relevant and attractive.
    • Provide input into the organisation’s recruitment and selection policies and procedures and monitor the adherence to these policies and procedures.
    • Establish and advise on latest trends around talent acquisition and sourcing.
    • Drive employer branding initiatives to attract high-calibre talent.
    • Ensure compliance with employment equity and transformation targets in recruitment.
    • Establish talent pipelines and proactive sourcing strategies for critical and scarce skills.

    Selection and Onboarding

    • Leads the effective and timeous turnaround implementation of talent sourcing strategies and methodologies.
    • Review the effectiveness of talent sourcing strategies and methodologies and provide input re the continuous enhancements.
    • Oversee the timeous preparation and completion of recruitment related administration such as:
    • Advertising of vacancies
    • Applicant tracking and screening.
    • Competency based interview guides.
    • Applicant screening and testing
    • Applicant feedback and communication
    • Report on the sourcing plan implementation and the identification of hard to fill vacancies.
    • Ensure that external service providers adhere to the service level agreements and address any non-compliance.
    • Oversee the implementation of fair selection processes, alignment to legislative and job specific requirements as well as alignment to DUT’s Employment Equity Plans
    • Provide guidance to relevant stakeholders and assist with the upskilling of line managers in competency - based interviewing and any other relevant selection tools / methods.
    • Lead the sourcing and selection of senior members of staff and collaborate with the Senior Director: HCS
    • Ensure a positive applicant experience throughout the sourcing and selection process despite the outcome of selection decisions.
    • Oversee that applicant records are accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with DUT’s document management system.
    • Identify recruitment related technology and provide input into any recruitment systems / technology related budgets.
    • Analyse and report on recruitment related statistics
    • Facilitate induction and on-boarding of new recruits in collaboration with the various portfolios, departments and divisions of the institution.
    • Oversight management and reporting on vacancy analysis, ensuring that this is kept within best practice and industry norms

      HC Business Partnering

    • Oversee and improve core HC processes including employee onboarding, contracts, HC records, benefits administration, and exit processes.
    • Ensure HC operational excellence through process automation, compliance with policies, and standardisation of procedures.
    • Monitor and manage key HC metrics (e.g., turnover, time-to-fill, headcount).
    • Function as the strategic HC advisor to a portfolio of departments/faculties, guiding on HC policies, workforce planning, organisational design, and performance management.
    • Partner with managers and executives to understand business needs and co-develop people solutions.
    • Coach line managers on talent management, employee engagement, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
    • Support organisational change management and staff transitions aligned with strategic plans.
    • Identify and report on the key HC metrics in accordance with DUT’s reporting requirements.
    • Communicate HC metrics to key stakeholders and address any. queries
    • Analyse data, identify trends and risks and make necessary recommendations for improvements

    People Management

    • Set the relevant deliverables and performance targets for own team in the department.
    • Create and maintain a climate conducive for team performance to enable the team to deliver on set targets, service level agreements.
    • Initiate pro-active and corrective actions as required to ensure service delivery.
    • Complete management actions within the required periods.
    • Coach reportees by compiling and providing clear feedback on work performance and provides constructive suggestions to improve performance.

    Senior Director Human Capital Services

    Minimum Requirements:

    • A Master's degree (NQF 9) in Social Sciences, Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or related field.
    • Registration with the SA Board for Personnel Practice or any other relevant and recognized body.

    • Advice on the effective use of appropriate conflict resolution protocols.
    • Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place to monitor/measure customer satisfaction with HR structures and services on a regular basis in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of services offered.

    • Attendance at selected national/international conferences/workshops.

    Systems Management.

    • Responsible for the installation and effective· functioning of an integrated management information system designed to meet the current and evolving needs of the customers of the HR function of the DUT, e.g. updated staffing establishment; actual/budget analyses.
    • Oversees the installation of the necessary controls to promote the effective functioning and coordination of HR systems within the Institution, e.g. Advises on the establishment of controls to safeguard the integrity of the job grading/profiling process.
    • Provides guidelines for the capture of relevant HR data through the ERP system (SAP Successfactor) for operational and strategic purposes, e.g. age/education profiles of staff for career planning projections.
    • Identifies and analyses statistical data and other management information to generate appropriate strategic responses and/or pre-emptive actions, e.g. Verification of staffing vs. establishment plan.

    Resources Management.

    • Assesses appropriateness of planned HRD spend; planned costs of transformation initiatives; and revises as may be necessary
    • Monitors actual results against budgets/forecasts and oversees the management of relevant internal /external resources to achieve agreed objectives with optimal efficiency.
    • Institutes and monitors effective controls to ensure resources are effectively managed within approved budget limitations. e.g. determines priorities to optimize utilization of resources/facilities.
    • Identifies and promotes income generating opportunities, e.g. provides support/guidance in the setting up of "Centres of Excellence".

    Representation.

    • Represents the HR function of the OUT at appropriate internal and external forums, specifically the following:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Key Responsibilities

    • Contributes to the research, design, development and review of copyright policies, procedures and systems for the DUT Press on an ongoing basis in line with relevant legislation, national standards and international best practice
    • Creates an integrated database of DUT authors’ intellectual property, e.g. books, journals articles, papers delivered, research undertaken, etc., comprising both past and present DUT staff
    • Sets up in close liaison with the DVC: RIE and Director: Research on creating and maintaining an Institutional Repository, based on the integrated database, designed to more effectively manage and promote the intellectual property rights of the DUT and its structures
    • Contributes to the design, implementation and management of appropriate practices and systems to ensure that the Institutional Repository concept is understood and utilized efficiently and effectively
    • Markets and promotes the DUT’s published material nationally and internationally
    • Establishes links with booksellers internationally to export authorized books, thereby generating income for the DUT
    • Facilitates relationships with, and regularly assesses needs and views of core customers in the DUT/section in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of services
    • Provision of updated information on publications to all relevant stakeholders
    • On-going meetings with DUT’ attorneys to ensure copyright information database is maintained up to date
    • Ensures the timeous collection and dissemination of information between the DUT and relevant external bodies such as publishers, rights holders and DALRO 
    • Creates Awareness of DUT’s Publications Nationally and Internationally via networking and advertising
    • Negotiates with Publishers, Rights Owners, Authors & Dalro (Dramatic Artistic Literary Rights Organization) on fees for rights of ownership/usage e.g. negotiates reasonable fees for the use of study materials from local and overseas publishers
    • Communicates with DUT’s attorneys in making proposals for ownership of intellectual property of authors
    • Sets objectives and clarifies roles for team members/ reporting staff in line with policies and procedures of Library function
    • Ensures changes in policies and procedures are communicated to staff
    • Manages performance of team members against agreed targets and makes appropriate interventions for development
    • Identifies skills development requirements for team members and ensures appropriate training
    • Manages HR functions for e.g. recruitment and formal discipline
    • Budgets and manages all relevant internal and external resources to achieve agreed objectives with maximum efficiency
    • Assumes responsibility for administration and control of publications funding
    • Reports on budget as directed by Head of Library Services
    • Promotes and supports income generating opportunities for the section/DUT
