    Senior Project Manager - Water Tunnel Infrastructure 1

    • The Senior Project Manager – Water Tunnel Infrastructure will serve as the Team Leader responsible for the overall delivery, coordination, and contract administration of the Polihali Transfer Tunnel project. The role ensures successful execution of design and construction supervision activities in line with project objectives, timelines, and quality standards. This position will be based in Lesotho (full-time) and will be a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extention.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide overall leadership and management of the project team
    • Act as the primary liaison between the Client and project stakeholders
    • Oversee contract administration in accordance with FIDIC conditions
    • Supervise design and construction activities for underground works
    • Monitor project progress, budgets, risks, and compliance
    • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Degree in Civil Engineering

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in water resource development projects

    Civil Engineer

    Job Purpose

    • The Civil Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering civil engineering design outputs for multidisciplinary projects across study and detailed design phases. The role focuses on defining engineering design intent, preparing technical deliverables, and coordinating with civil drafters to ensure practical and buildable solutions.

    Key Responsibilities
    Technical Delivery

    • Perform conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design for earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, and site development
    • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, technical specifications, and design criteria
    • Define design intent and provide clear inputs to Civil Drafters
    • Contribute to quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs)

    Business Development & Digital Solution Consultant

    Role Purpose

    • The Business Development & Digital Solution Consultant is an intermediate-level role designed to support and accelerate Hatch’s Digital Business Development activities across the Africa and Middle East mining markets. The role acts as the commercial, analytical and coordination engine behind early‑stage client engagement, pre‑sales, opportunity development and specialised delivery.
    • Working closely with the Regional Director - Digital, Business Development Executive – Digital, and global Principal Consultants, this role owns activities across market research, client outreach, pursuit coordination, proposal administration, internal alignment with technical SMEs, early-stage value assessment and project execution.
    • Over time, the incumbent will be developed into a subject matter expert (SME) able to manage accounts, shape opportunities independently, and close end‑to‑end sales cycles for selected digital products and solutions with opportunities to deliver specific consulting roles on earmarked projects, aligned with candidate's core technical abilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Business Development & Client Engagement

    • Conduct initial client outreach to introduce Hatch Digital capabilities.
    • Build early-stage client relationships to understand needs, challenges, and value opportunities.
    • Attend client meetings independently and alongside senior BD leaders.
    • Manage assigned accounts, and co‑manage key accounts with the Principal Consultant / BD Executive.
    • Qualify early-stage opportunities and align appropriate internal SMEs.

    Pre‑Sales & Opportunity Development

    • Lead early opportunity assessment, including gathering requirements, value drivers, and solution options.
    • Conduct market, competitor and technology research across Africa and Middle East mining markets.
    • Draft initial proposal structures, scope outlines, and solution narratives.
    • Coordinate with technical teams to close required information gaps and with delivery teams to plan, estimate, and shape solution proposals.
    • Support financial modelling, value case framing, and preparation of commercial packages.

    Proposal & Pursuit Management

    • Owned for assigned accounts; shared for key accounts.
    • Administer bid timelines, compliance requirements, and submission quality.
    • Manage the pursuit tracker ensuring visibility of all leads, pursuits, and proposals.
    • Prepare pursuit win strategies, including competitive positioning, solution differentiators, pricing considerations, and client value framing.
    • Develop and package Opportunity Review and Pursuit Authorisation presentations for internal governance processes, ensuring alignment with Hatch Digital standards and approval workflows.
    • Work closely with Commercial, Contracting & Legal (CCL) teams to align on required commercial terms, risk considerations, and contractual requirements during proposal development and contracting phases.
    • Ensure early identification of commercial risks and coordinate mitigation strategies with senior BD leaders, Technical SMEs, and CCL stakeholders.
    • Support the shaping of commercial models, pricing frameworks, and contracting structures for digital consulting, software, and mixed‑mode delivery engagements.
    • Prepare high-quality proposal content, client presentations, and supporting documentation.
    • Ensure all deliverables are aligned with Hatch Digital standards and messaging.

    Internal Coordination & Collaboration

    • Act as the central coordination point between BD, digital consultants, delivery teams, and technical SMEs.
    • Coordinate internal meetings, planning sessions, workshops, and proposal reviews.
    • Support continuous improvement of Digital BD processes by identifying inefficiencies and recommending enhancements.
    • Develop and maintain standardised templates, tools, checklists, and process documentation to improve consistency, speed, and quality of BD and pre‑sales activities.
    • Contribute to the refinement of pursuit management practices, CRM usage norms, proposal workflows, and reporting structures.
    • Proactively suggest and implement efficiency improvements that strengthen business development operations and enable better scalability of the Digital Practice.
    • Provide regular updates to the Digital Business Development Lead and broader Digital Practice leadership.

    CRM, Reporting & Administration

    • Own and maintain all CRM (TCM) updates for assigned accounts.
    • Support BD reporting, pipeline management, and opportunity tracking.
    • Ensure documentation, notes, and client insights are captured and accessible to the team.

    Growth Toward SME Status

    • Build deep understanding of digital mining value chains, digital operations, and Hatch’s solution portfolio.
    • Gradually take on account management responsibilities.
    • In time, manage full sales cycles for select digital products and services.

    Consulting Delivery Opportunities (Aligned to Technical Expertise)

    In addition to core business development and pre‑sales responsibilities, the successful candidate will have opportunities to directly support and deliver consulting assignments on selected digital or operational improvement projects. These assignments will be aligned to the individual’s technical background and growth path, and may include:

    • Contributing to operational diagnostics, value assessments, or digital maturity assessments.
    • Supporting workshops, requirements gathering, and process mapping alongside senior consultants.
    • Participating in solution definition work, feasibility assessments, and technology evaluations.
    • Assisting in configuration, validation, or testing activities for digital tools or operational systems (where aligned with engineering discipline).
    • Providing domain-specific insight (metallurgy, mining operations, control/automation, processing) into client engagements.
    • Supporting the delivery of small consulting packages independently as competency grows.
    • Serving as a technical liaison between the BD function and delivery teams during project handover and early project phases.
    • Engagement in these consulting roles will reinforce the candidate’s journey toward SME status and ensure strong grounding in practical digital mining applications.

    Minimum Requirements

    Education

    Degree in one of the following disciplines:

    • Metallurgical Engineering
    • Mining Engineering
    • Control / Automation Engineering
    • Mineral Processing Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering (with mining exposure)

    Experience

    • 3–7 years of experience in mining, mineral processing, automation, or digital/technology roles.
    • Exposure to Africa and/or Middle East mining operations strongly preferred.
    • Experience interacting with senior operational, technical, or plant personnel.

    Technical & Industry Understanding

    Experience or exposure in one or more of the following is advantageous:

    Electrical Engineer (Mining) 1

    Position Summary

    • We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Shaft Structural Engineer with specialist expertise in the design and execution of surface and underground mining infrastructure projects (Greenfields and Brownfields environments) to join our Mining Sector Practice. This role entails working with diverse teams, both locally, and abroad. This role reports directly into the Regoinal Director, Mining (AIM).
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for the structural analysis and design, assessment, and delivery of mining-related infrastructure across all project phases, including Concept Studies, Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), Feasibility Studies (FS), Execution (Detail Design), Construction Support and Commissioning.
    • The role requires significant experience in the mining sector, with demonstrated capability in the design of heavy industrial structures, shaft and hoisting infrastructure, underground facilities, bulk material handling systems, processing plants, workshops, and associated mining infrastructure.
    • The candidate will work within multi-disciplinary project teams, and interface closely with mining, civil, mechanical, electrical, control & automation, process, geotechnical, ventilation, engineering management and project management disciplines.

    Ideal Candidate Profile

    • An established structural engineer who combines strong technical design capability with practical mining project experience and who can confidently deliver complex steel and reinforced concrete structures associated with deep-level underground mines, shaft complexes, process plants, materials handling systems, and heavy industrial facilities within a multidisciplinary consulting environment.

    Prerequisites

    • 5-7 years’ experience, with emphasis on the structural design of infrastructure related to the underground and surface mining operations, with particular emphasis on shaft-related infrastructure i.e. mining headgears and shaft steelwork systems
    • Registration as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA. Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA would be advantageous
    • BSc/B. Eng degree in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Structural Engineering. Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering would be advantageous
    • In-depth knowledge and experience in designing structural concrete and structural steelwork. Knowledge of dynamic loading and analysis of structures would be advantageous
    • In-depth knowledge of structural software suites such as PROKON. Working knowledge of Strand 7 and STAAD Pro would be advantageous
    • Working knowledge of Bentley Projectwise and Open Buildings Designer (Microstation) would be advantageous

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate shall be capable of:

    • Developing structural design basis and criteria
    • Developing technical specifications for construction
    • Developing technical discipline documentation for enquiry and contract placement purposes related to contract or procurement packages – Scope of Work documents and Material Take-Off’s (MTO’s). The candidate will also undertake the review of bid submissions, bid clarifications and shall undertake/ participate in the compilation of the Technical Evaluation and Recommendation (TEAR)
    • Developing structural designs from Concept Phase through to Execution
    • Undertaking structural analysis and design calculations, inclusive of compilation of design reports
    • Demonstrating a working knowledge of OHSA, MHSA and SANS codes. Working knowledge of international loading and structural design codes would be advantageous
    • Guiding structural/ mechanical designers with input and development of 3D models, and participation in 3D model reviews
    • Thoroughly reviewing structural drawings, and reviewing steelwork and platework workshop fabrication drawings
    • Undertaking intra-discipline and inter-discipline reviews and co-ordination
    • Participating in client meetings and engaging with Client discipline stakeholders to ensure that project scope and outcomes are met
    • Managing the structural discipline for Project(s) in terms of scope, budget, schedule and quality
    • Participating in Risk reviews (HAZiD, HAZOP, Constructability Reviews and Risk Assessments)
    • Conducting peer reviews and verification of designs
    • Mentoring and supervision of junior (graduate) engineers
    • Undertaking site inspections and condition assessment of structures inclusive of technical report writing
    • Participating in business development initiatives by assisting with development of man -hour estimates and input into tender bid document(s)
    • Resolving site technical field engineering queries and providing commissioning support

    Senior Process Engineer - Gold

    • The Process Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services and/or field support. Client liaison and maintaining the focus of the project on achieving unprecedented and sustained business results for the client is a large part of the work.
    • The role will require the engineer to oversee, guide and develop solutions in all areas of the process plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. Specific tasks may include the development of process engineering deliverables; solutions to infield problems; and involvement in the execution and commissioning of these solutions.
    • The Process Engineer may be required to act as Lead Process Engineer, on specific assignments, responsible for coordinating the process engineering team, oversee and guide the development of process engineering deliverables ensuring they meet the project’s scope, are delivered on schedule and budget, and meet Hatch’s quality standards. Experience in Gold Concentrator design.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    • Perform process engineering tasks on Minerals Processing projects, in a variety of commodities
    • When requested, act as Lead Process Engineer on projects or studies
    • Operate with full competence and independence in the execution of all design calculations, design criteria, in the compilation and execution of equipment lists and calculations.
    • Develop new criteria/calculations where required, maintaining high levels of accuracy. Provide frequent training, guidance and supervision to junior colleagues
    • Actively engage with clients to understand project requirements
    • Process scope definition and technology selection
    • Define the process design criteria
    • Define the process block flow diagram and unit operations
    • Compilation of Process Flow Diagrams, along with associated mass and energy balance calculations
    • Undertake trade off studies to resolve options
    • Identify, scope and manage process test work (on site or laboratory based)
    • Conduct capacity analysis for existing plants
    • Select the equipment for projects
    • Carry out engineering design calculations and equipment sizing calculations
    • Prepare specifications of process attributes for equipment, through compilation of process datasheets (or process input to general datasheets).
    • Compilation of Process Description
    • Design of the process control logic adhering to appropriate safety standards, and documentation into Functional Descriptions
    • Display full competence and independence in the compilation of P&IDs and all levels of control philosophies.
    • Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent and review of equipment bids
    • Liaising with other discipline engineers to ensure designs conform to process requirements
    • Contribute to hazard studies
    • Compile operating cost estimates including estimation of consumables, labor, maintenance materials and power
    • Provide input to capital cost estimates
    • Prepare well written project reports
    • Play a lead role in site commissioning of new equipment and process systems
    • Participate in the preparation of proposals and other business development initiatives.

    Qualifications and Experience: 

    • Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Mineral Processing degree.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience
    • Experience supporting engineering studies including scope studies, Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies.
    • Extensive design, commissioning and/or operational experience in gold processing facilities
    • Experience in scoping and management of metallurgical testwork programs (benchscale, pilot scale, on-site testing)
    • Experience in modelling of gold processing equipment and systems
    • Strong client focus.
    • Ability to lead engineering tasks on a project, within the allocated budget and schedule, including mentoring and guidance of junior colleagues and professional interaction with other project disciplines
    • Ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
