    ECD Foundation Phase Teacher Development Programme

    Description

    • The Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy was established in 2005, a pioneering initiative of St Stithians College to provide educational growth opportunities for students and teachers based in public schools.
    • The focus on Maths and Science provides the opportunity to make a signal contribution in the public education sector and in scarce skills development. It is necessary to ensure a clear flow from the work buckets so that there is continuous improvement in the execution of the expected deliverables for the Academy, as identified in our goals and objectives.
    • The Academy’s activities are hosted at and supported by St Stithians, and funding is provided predominantly through corporate CSI contributions and private donations. This is a shining private-public partnership model and St Stithians is proud to call the Thandulwazi Academy the seventh school of the College.

    Requirements

    • Applications are invited from interested candidates who believe they have the required commitment to apply for the following exciting opportunity in the Thandulwazi Teacher Development Programme in 2025.
    • Bachelor of Education Early Childhood Development in Foundation Phase Candidates to participate in the Thandulwazi Teacher Development Programme.

    Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria:

    • Should have submitted an application with a public tertiary institution for part-time study, preferably Unisa, for 1st year B. Ed ECD in Foundation Phase in 2025.
    • Be able to attend contact sessions at St Stithians College on selected Saturdays.
    • Must be South African citizens.

    In addition, you would qualify for the following benefits.

    • Payment of tuition fees only, excluding registration fees
    • Support and guidance on academic work with registered modules

    Teacher-Intern Training Programme

    Requirements

    ARE YOU INTERESTED IN A CAREER AS A TEACHER?

    • If yes, the Thandulwazi Teacher-Intern Training Programme, an initiative of the Thandulwazi Trust and St Stithians College is offering prospective teachers an opportunity to study towards a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) or a 2-year Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) through a long-distance learning with public tertiary institutions, while gaining workplace experience at St Stithians College and one year in Public School. This position will be available from January 2025. Benefits to the position include being mentored by an experienced educator and exposure to valuable professional training and workplace experience within an IEB school environment.

    Preference will be given to aspiring teachers who are:

    • Registered with a public tertiary institution and studying part-time towards a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) in Foundation and Intermediate Phase, Intermediate and Senior Phase, Senior and FET Phase or a 2-year PGCE, majoring in Mathematics, Physical and Life Sciences, Accounting, English and African Languages or
    • Having passed grade 12 with Bachelor pass and admitted by a public tertiary institution to study part-time in 2025 towards a B. Ed or PGCE qualification majoring in the subjects mentioned above, or
    • Doing Grade 12 in 2024 and aspiring to enrol with a public tertiary institution in 2025 to study towards a B. Ed qualification majoring in the subjects mentioned above.
    • South African citizens

    In addition, you would qualify for one or more of the following benefits, depending on your financial needs analysis:

    • Payment of tuition fees and a textbook allowance
    • Daily meal allowance.
    • Workshop/ conference allowance
    • A monthly stipend
