    Manager: Product Testing & Qualification

    Job description

    Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Boksburg Plant) is looking for a Manager: Product Testing & Qualification. The main purpose of this position is to strategically establish, implement and maintain a Quality System for the management of the Following areas:

    • Ballistic testing (Somerset West and Alkantpan)
    • Environmental testing
    • Rockets and Detonic testing
    • Munition Proofing
    • REPORTING TO: Executive Manager: Quality
    • Managerial Tasks
    • Formulate and implement a new strategic direction for the Product Qualification department.
    • Establish, measure and monitor key objectives (in line with overall company objectives) within the department.
    • Review of current facilities / infrastructure / technology for suitability to testing and customer requirements.
    • Establish and document satisfactions / complaints from internal / external customers with the aim of continual improvement.
    • Standardization of operating / test instructions in the Product qualification department.
    • Facilitate the necessary skills development / training needs analysis within the department as well as succession planning with the aim of optimization of manpower.
    • To control expenses within approved Budget.
    • Direct the work of Electronic Design &Testing personnel so that client satisfaction is ensured.
    • Direct the acquisition, management and maintenance of test facilities and equipment to optimize the testing service.
    • Establish new test methods and equipment to adhere to current and latest test specifications and international test standards.
    • Direct and approve activities, procedures and processes in the danger area (and facilities outside the danger area) in accordance with the Explosives Regulations and the OHS Act in general.
    • Approve Hazard Analyses and Risk Assessments to ensure that explosives related activities are in accordance with health and safety standards incorporated in the Explosives Regulations.
    • Evaluate and analyze test data to ensure test specifications are met and assist in evaluation of products according to test specifications and international test standards and procedures
    • Liaising / consulting with the respective Testing engineers with regards to testing and test data analysis.
    • Planning and scheduling of tests and regular execution of tests (instrumentation) and analysis of test data.
    • Auditing of documented procedural safety during testing in accordance with the Explosives Regulations and the OHS Act.
    • Review of SHE training procedures within the respective test facilities / area in line with Explosives Regulations.

    POST REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum B Degree (Electronics/Mechanical/Mechatronics) or relevant NQF 7 equivalent qualification.
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
    • Management Courses/Certification is desirable.
    • Knowledge of Test data analysis and evaluation.
    • OHS Act and Explosive regulations knowledge.
    • Test Facility Design & Establishment and Management.
    • A flexible, independent, strategic and analytical thinker with thoroughness and tenacity.
    • A high concern for standards / efficiency / effectiveness and results orientated.
    • Good initiative with high sense of information seeking and good problem solving skills.
    • Must have excellent customer orientation and equipped with good rational persuasion competence.
    • Fully computer literate and ability to work on different quality / statistical / MS Software and document configuration systems.

    Project Planning Manager

    Job description

    Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Boksburg Plant) is looking for a Project Planning Manager who will be responsible for planning projects.

    REPORTING TO: General Manager - Project Management

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Standardising the scheduling process as well as planning and reporting methodology across the project management department within RDM.
    • Creating a total view of the loading of project related resources in the organisation so as to effectively load the project schedules.
    • Identifying and logically integrating tasks with available resources across all project functions and highlighting influences that will likely affect the outcome of the project completion.
    • Measuring in field schedule performance and continuously validating and updating the schedule against the actual progress and accurately forecasting the project completion date based on sound earned value management practices.
    • Continuously analysing the schedules to improve and optimise the project where required as well as presenting the impacts of one project on the entire portfolio of projects.
    • Ensuring compliance to the requirements as set out in the RDM General Project Management Procedure as well as all relevant RDM procedures.
    • Managing and reporting on projects’ schedule’s progress, status, risk and issues.
    • Taking part in internal project reviews to ensure compliance to the planning processes so as to ensure projects are well planned.
    • Reporting of the full project portfolio to the General Manager Project Management.
    • Taking part in the strategic planning of the full RDM Projects portfolio. .
    • Contributing to the improvement of the Project Management function at RDM.

    POST REQUIREMENTS:

    • Relevant Project Management Qualification (NQF 7 or Higher).
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management of which 3 years directly planning projects with a proven track record of delivered projects.
    • Setting up and managing a Project Management Office will be an added advantage.
    • PMP Certification will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent knowledge of MS Projects and/or similar project schedule packages.
    • Training in earned value management.
    • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and conflict management skills.
    • Excellent communication, planning and organizing skills.
    • Experience in line management functions required.
    • Highly organized, self-motivated and attention to detail.
