    Health & Safety Officer

    Job Description

    • The company currently has a vacancy for a motivated, professional and attentive to detail Health and Safety Officer to join their team and drive company Health and Safety initiatives and programmes.
    • This position requires someone who is able to work in a fast paced, pressurized environment. The candidate will be based in Orkney (Vaal Reefs), however local road travel will be required between various sites and head office. (Welkom Free Sate, West Wits and Gauteng)

    The successful candidate will:

    • Ensure compliance with Company safety regulations and adherence to safety standards, including safety induction and training
    • Promote and ensure adherence to the safety policy and procedures
    • Keep management up to date and informed about legislative requirements regarding health and safety requirements.
    • Create safety procedures and develop training programmes to enhance safe working conditions
    • Review and update emergency procedures as and when necessary
    • Conduct site inspections and audits as required identifying and minimizing the risk to company and employees
    • Identify unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards, investigate root causes and identify corrective and preventative actions
    • Conduct workplace Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments
    • Design and implement responses to the above mentioned HIRA’s
    • Inspect the place of work to determine whether any machinery, plant, equipment, substance, appliances or process is of such nature liable to cause bodily injury to any person working in the place of work
    • Investigate any accident, near-miss incident, dangerous occurrence or occupational disease that occurred in the place of work
    • Design and implement responses to limit or prevent a recurrence thereof
    • Compile and submit health and safety related reports to management and third parties
    • Liaise with Department of Employment and Labour as and when required i.e. regarding Sec 24 incidents.
    • Responsible for monitoring contractors and venders working on Isinyithi sites, to ensure that Health & Safety practices are applied and upheld at all times

    Qualifying Experience:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management (Comsoc, SAMTRAC for mining, SAMTRAC) or equivalent
    • Computer Literacy in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
    • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a production/mining/construction environment will be advantageous
    • Registration with SACPCMP as CHSO
    • Comply Works – HRM System
    • Hands on practical approach to the job
    • Own reliable transport

    Job Description

    • SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd requires a committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their Security team as a Security Inspector. The successful applicant will be responsible for the supervision of Security employees as well as providing security services to the Group. The successful candidate will report to the Security Manager.

    RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW)

    • Manage security employees.
    • Posting of personnel daily.
    • Ensure security equipment is maintained and managed correctly.

    Intake Manager

    Job Description

    • The SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd requires a committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their Production Team as an Intake Manager. The successful applicant will be responsible for the supervision of the intake department employees and all operations within the intake department. The successful candidate will report to the Production Manager.

    RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW)

    • Provide professional, efficient and accurate service to customers, branches and interlink loads delivering Non-ferrous metals.
    • Verify quality and quantity of all material received.
    • Ensure accurate reporting of weights of material received internally and externally.
    • Ensure that customers always receive excellent and efficient service.
    • Manage the offloading and grading of all Non-ferrous scrap accurately and effectively.
    • Daily planning of Non Ferrous department.
    • Accurately collate necessary information and documenting required for loads in preparation for payment.
    • Manage attendance & timekeeping of employees.
    • Ensure a productive and disciplined environment.
    • Motivate and manage training for team Manage all administrative processes required.
    • Ensure material flow to Copper shed, processing and balers are well planned and executed.

    Assistant Scrap Metal Branch Manager

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • The Assistant Branch Manager focuses on assisting and supporting the Branch Manager with the planning and managing of the branch’s operations and staff. 
    • The Assistant Branch Manager, with the guidance of the Branch Manager, is responsible for leading a team to ensure that operational requirements are met. Compliance with the Second Hand Goods Act, maintaining good customer relations, and acting with integrity are crucial for this role.
    • The Assistant Branch Manager must be able to manage the branch on his / her own if necessary.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are strictly followed
    • Maintain good customer relations and ensuring customer satisfaction
