    Data Scientist

    The Job

    Constantly review and analyse supply chain data to identify opportunities to optimise OTIF, adherence to plan and cost targets from material supply to finished goods. Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues, customers or the wider organisation

    Requirements

    Background/experience

    • 2 to 4 years’ relevant experience, preferably in planning, or analytics centre of excellence role
    • Experience in data management and advanced analytics
    • Postgraduate degree or diploma in a relevant field

    Specific job skills

    • Computer literacy with particular proficiency in programming and BI tools

    Competencies

    • Data management and data engineering skills to enable optimal data process and methodology
    • Expertise in advanced analytics
    • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, as well as problem-solving ability
    • Ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data using appropriate tools and technologies

    Responsibilities

    Data analysis and reporting

    • Create processes and methods to automate information gathering across the value chain
    • Maintain and track accurate data to support supply chain decision making
    • Review, streamline and automate all internal and external Supply chain reports
    • Constantly review supply chain data and ensure necessary inputs are fed into the planning and production cycle
    • Develop and maintain detailed process maps of key-value chain processes to assist with optimisation and simulation

    Support Supply chain analytic Centre of excellence

    • Descriptive-, Diagnostic-, Predictive- and Prescriptive analytics:
    • Advise on optimum product rise and work centre allocation and improve level loading in work centres
    • Obtain and analyze data to identify problematic areas and suggest improvements
    • Use analysis results to improve supply chain processes, performance and to reduce costs.

    Future Proof our Business

    • Develop frameworks to identify the value of implementing advanced tools and technologies within the Aspen value chain (IOT, Big data, Blockchain, Machine learning, AI)
    • Support the creation of LP/MIP capability within Aspen and create the framework/Tools for data engineering, digital twin, optimisation and simulation

    Commercial Finance Manager

    Main Purpose of the Role

    To execute the commercial finance functions of the SA Commercial division which includes Aspen, Ethicare, Private, State, SADC and support functions as assigned. This is to be achieved by supporting and advising various business areas in line with the company’s strategic objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Directly responsible for the preparation, evaluation and submission of accurate, useful financial reports to key stakeholders in the business on time and in full

    Analysis, Reporting and Management of:

    • Sales, COGS and Gross Profit variances to Budget, Forecast and Prior Year by:
    • Brand
    • Customer
    • Division etc.
    • Advertising spend
    • Other Operating Expenses
    • Accruals and Provisions including applicable balance sheet reconciliation and management
    • Sales and Expense Journal preparation and posting
    • Discounts, Claims and Price adjustments
    • The expense to Turnover ratios

    Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecast Processes

    • Facilitation of Budget, Forecast & Five-Year model processes
    • Preparation and maintenance of calculation templates including loading and analyzing calculated values (e.g. Log Fees, Distribution Fees, Trade Expenditure)
    • Detailed review and analysis of all Income Statement lines
    • Insightful reporting on variances
    • Input into Budget presentation pack
    • Address queries timeously

    Ad Hoc tasks to be performed in line with applicable policies and levels of authority including but not limited to the following:

    • Review and critically analyze New Product Launch P&L statements with reference to marketing plans and other input from the business
    • Facilitate robust Brand Plan processes including template development, maintenance and management by working closely with appropriate stakeholders
    • Supporting the Business Heads and their teams in preparing for quarterly brand and performance reviews by providing templates, information and meaningful analysis
    • Provide day to day financial support and training to the business, as required
    • Address ad-hoc queries
    • Perform ROI analysis
    • Review and sign off Commission calculations Projects as assigned
    • Perform designated approval function in line with approvals framework
    • Identifying and documenting risks and opportunities
    • Third-party reporting in line with contractual requirements
    • Process flow improvements
    • Ensuring transactions are accounted for in line with IFRS
    • Ensuring adequate financial and business controls are designed and implemented for the respective business units
    • Ensuring that reports are balanced between systems and supporting documents
    • Review, approve and update SOPs from a financial control perspective

    • CA(SA) or ACMA CGMA
    • At least 3 years of working experience in a finance environment (audit or otherwise)
    • Computer literate – Advanced in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
    • Experience in the pharmaceutical/FMCG industry
    • Commercial experience
    • Prior experience in the interpretation and use of accounting standards and the Companies Act
