    Deputy Director: Stock Management

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12 / NQF level 4 plus Degree in the Property management / Art / Commerce / Business Administration / Public Administration / Development Studies equivalent to NQF level 7; 
    • 7 – 9 years’ experience in social housing sector or municipal rental housing sector or private rental sector of which 5 years’ experience should be the senior management level. 

    Primary Function:

    • Manage a portfolio type of public rental stock in conjunction with Director: Public Housing Stock Management. Develop and implement and annual repairs and maintenance plan, according to allocated budgets and qualification requirements.

    Internship Programme

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Grade 12/NQF level 4 plus Diploma or a Degree in Business Management / Business Administration / Public Management / Public administration at NQF level 6/7 or related. 
    • No experience required. 
    • Computer Literacy and Office Applications. 
    • Language proficiency (reading and writing) in English; 

    PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

    • Perform developmental level professional administrative work research and analysis in support of the Business Management directorate at the department of Housing. To participate in the directorate’s day-to-day operations that include general office administration, monitoring and evaluation risk management and regulatory compliance, HR and involvement in administrative tasks related to long, medium and short-range strategic planning. This includes contribution to development of Business Plan, quarterly report and strategic planning concept notes.  

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 

    • Render developmental-level professional administrative and support service in the Business Management directorate; 
    • Assist with verifying reported information by undertaking site visits and /or physical risk assessments to projects. 
    • Administrative tasks related to long, medium, short-range strategic planning by assisting. 
    • Transporting by hand of restricted documents dealing with all types of sensitive and confidential information.

    Fare Collections Specialist

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12 / Matric certificate plus National Diploma IT (NQF level 6); 
    • 3 – 4 years in limited transportation experience.  

    Primary Function:

    • To operate the terminal of the AFC system in the control centre. Receive online data in respect of sales, from the Automated Fare Company (AFC) and off station top up vendors and the BOC in complimentary and feeder buses. Implement checks and balances consistency of technology. Monitor the data received from the AFC to identify problem areas, e.g. in adequacy of turnstiles.
    • Request Manager Control Centre to focus on any problem area identifies. Monitor above to determine extent and nature of problem areas and present a motivated and substantiated proposal to Deputy Director Operations to address problem area. Brief daily to the Deputy Directors Operations in respect of number extent and nature of intervention dealt with.
    • Weekly and monthly reports to the Deputy Director Operation. Provide support and cooperate with the Fare Analyst to measure revenue against operational expenditures i.e checking the top-up vendors report, check the contract payment obligations, adjustment formular and the daily deposit report to evaluate and to project the economical cost of the operational plans and the technical and public fare.

    Senior Specialist: Strategic Urban Planner (Infrastructure Planning & Coordination)

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12/Matric Bachelor’s Degree in Town and Regional Planning or Urban Development Studies or Civil Engineering 
    • Minimum of 5 - 7 years planning experience, with at least 1 year experience in spatial planning strategy formulation and policy development. 

    Primary Function:

    • To assist in coordinating the planning, development and management of infrastructure through the Johannesburg Strategic Infrastructure Platform within the City of Johannesburg and to ensure alignment with IDP and associated strategies; Provide technical input towards the capital budgeting process; Assist with interface and recommendations to the Political level, Senior officials and the public;
    • Assist with the facilitation of development processes and projects for implementation; Assist with managing the Johannesburg Strategic Infrastructure Platform (JSIP) and provide technical input to its enhancements; Assist with guiding Departmental and MoE capital investment to achieve alignment to strategic planning frameworks and City Priorities;
    • Assist the AD with the analysis of development and capital investment trends and formulate growth management strategies. Assist with the preparation of the Capital Investment Framework (CIF) by analysing and interpreting data using advanced Excel capabilities such as VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros and data visualization. 

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Capital Infrastructure Investment coordination for the overall City’s Capital Budget; 
    • Formulate policies to address and find solutions for urban development issues; 
    • Provide technical support and facilitate the budget adjustment process; 
    • Coordinate area-based coordination processes; 
    • Facilitating the capturing of information on capital projects for Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) submitted for IDP and Budget process; 
    • Technical and administrative input to and support the following City’s processes: 
    • IDP and Public Participation thereof 
    • Business Plans 
    • Capital Budget 
    • Manage own workflow and office administration.
