    1X Head Clinical Department (Dental) Grade 1 Oral Maxillofacial Pathology

    Requirements :

    Deputy Manager Medical Physicist Grade 1 (Re-Advertisement)

    • Perform calculation and inspection of the facility shielding as required in accordance with the national regulations. Acts on behalf of license holders in taking a full responsibility for the entire scope of radiation protection.
    • Develop and directs quality control programs to ensure safety procedures, better image quality, identification of the sources of uncertainty as well as the compliance with regulations.
    • Perform acceptance testing of the newly installed imaging systems to verify the specifications provided by the vendor. Implementation of a regular quality control programme to guarantee safety of both staff and patients.
    • Ensuring that all the activity measuring instruments (radionuclide calibrators and survey meters) are calibrated against the national standard. Review of documentation which includes procedure manuals and policy documents.
    • Ensure that the correct activity which is measured with a radionuclide calibrator is administered to patients. Monitor the administration of radioactivity sources (in case of I-131 and Lu-177) to patients for therapeutic procedures. Measurement of the sensitivity of gamma cameras/SPECT scanners prior for the estimation of the activity/counts to be performed.
    • Provide support to Radiography, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy, Oncology and other institutions in the cluster. Evaluation of all the facilities and procedures in terms of occupational or public safety by performing radiation survey.
    • Participate in drafting/writing specifications prior to purchasing of a new radionuclide calibrator and/or any imaging system. Ability to work full hours a week and work overtime when requested.

    Assistant Director (Nutrition)

    Requirements :

    • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Nutritionist (i.e, four-year bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Nutritionist. A master’s in nutrition will be an advantage.
    • Currently registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

    Duties :

    • Adhere to all relevant Acts, guidelines, policies and specifications, and ensure implementation and integration into practice. To take managerial responsibility for coordinating, planning and organizing priorities of service in relation to Integrated Nutrition Program(INP). Plan the sectional budget in line with estimated client requirements and ensure that consumable and non-consumable goods, equipment and staff are available to achieve agreed output and foreseeable additional demands.
    • Contribute to improved child survival and Maternal health focusing on Pregnancy and lactation and congenital abnormalities. Optimally manage all available resources of the department, i.e. personnel, facilities, equipment and supplies. Support the implementation of food and nutrition security interventions to address hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition in vulnerable populations. Implement the South African Food-Based Dietary Guidelines (SAFBDG) to promote good health and prevent chronic diseases.
    • Planning and conducting trainings programs for health-care workers. Monitoring and evaluation of nutrition services at facilities and community level. Monitoring of Vitamin A, Zinc, Iron and Folic acid supplementation at facility level. Participating in School health initiatives through Anthropometric assessment, education and referrals.

Reviewing, updating, developing and approving SOPs, policies, protocols and diet sheets for the unit as needed.     Chief Podiatrist Grade 1

    Requirements :

    • Podiatry Qualification, Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa as a Podiatrist.
    • 3 years’ experience.
    • Valid driver’s license. Community based rehabilitation experience.

    Occupational Therapist Grade 1 Production

    Environmental Health Practitioner

    Requirements :

    Medical Specialist in Anaesthesiology Grade 1 – 3

    Requirements :

    • MBChB & MMed degree or a relevant postgraduate qualification in Anaesthesiology and current registration with the HPCSA as a Specialist in Anaesthesiology.

Initiate and participate in research activities and publications in accordance with the School of Medicine plans.
