    Manager: Power Generation - Somerset West Cape Town

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure plant availability meets contractual targets.
    • Meet performance ratio targets for the Solar PV Power Plant and the Diesel Back-up System.
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance with all required operations and maintenance (O&M) reporting.
    • Optimize net cost of power generation.
    • Plan and execute maintenance effectively.
    • Cooperate with the Plant operations of the Somerset West Maintenance Department.

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    • Minimum BEng/BTech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Post graduate qualification in Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.
    • Possession GCC (Factories) under the OHS Act.
    • Experience of GMR 2(1) or GMR 2(7) appointment under the OHS Act.
    • At least 5 years of relevant technical experience and at least 3 years of management or supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
    • Understanding of power system protection, relays, and breaker operation.
    • Large-scale solar PV experience, Generator power experience.
    • Understanding of plant monitoring systems.
    • Ability to conduct switching activities and be authorized to switch (Authorized Person with reference to ORHVS).
    • Project management experience is advantageous.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proactive and able to work independently.
    • Willingness to be on standby during weekends and after hours.
    • Able to perform physical site work and obtain a medical fitness certificate as per Annexure 3 of OHS Act Construction Regulations.
    • Analyse and resolve faults within the plant.
    • Manage, supervise, and conduct repairs and replacement of components.
    • Monitor and control the plant through the monitoring platform.
    • Supervise and conduct switching activities of 11kV Substations.
    • Manage, supervise, and conduct preventative and corrective maintenance.
    • Complete all reporting requirements related to plant operations.
    • Complete and submit incident and investigative reports.
    • Fully proficient in English (verbal and written communication), additional language beneficial.
    • Fully computer literate (MS Office Suite and Google App Suite).
    • Strong organizational, planning, scheduling, and prioritization skills.

    Maintenance Supervisor: Electrical - Wellington

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • To keep in good repair all electrical services throughout the plant to ensure vital services are maintained by planning and managing all preventative, reactive and statutory tasks.
    • To supervise the analysis, diagnosis and repairing of faults in highly complex and critical engineering installations and Electrical systems.
    • To supervise pre-planned and essential unplanned (reactive) repair works and general maintenance activities primarily at the request of the customer (Manufacturing Facilities). These work need analysis of varying options and effective solutions.
    • To be knowledgeable in SAP plant Maintenance for the purpose of generating work requests, scheduling the PM03, PM02 and PM01 maintenance tasks.
    • The need of highly developed diagnostic skills is often paramount to be able to resolve faults on some of the specialized equipment that does not have the modern fault finding computerized processes build into it.
    • To liaise with suppliers regarding plant and/or equipment failures and to order the supply of goods and/or services as necessary to ensure rectification of the fault.
    • Issue COCs for any electrical installation performed.
    • Inputs to modification committee regarding selection of electrical equipment to be used in a hazardous area.
    • To fully understand the working of the electrical systems, utility services, plant and equipment within the plant and to work in compliance with:
    • Occupational health and safety act.
    • Explosives regulations.
    • Electrical Machinery & Installation Regulation.
    • Other legal and regulatory controls and documentation

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    POST REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum N6 / National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NQF 7 advantageous) 
    • Passed trade test as a qualified Electrician.
    • Registered Master Installation Electrician (MIE).
    • Worked as qualified MIE in a maintenance environment – Explosives or petro-chemical field.
    • Extensive SAP Plant Maintenance Knowledge.
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Reading and interpretation of Electrical drawings and schematics.
    • Perform high-level precision work.
    • Good electrical insight in the repair of machinery and equipment.
    • Code 8 driver’s license.
    • Willingness to work shifts and overtime.

    Maintenance Supervisor: Mechanic - Wellingtonal

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Ensure plant availability and make sure all mechanical maintenance spares are available within a reasonable time frame.
    • Support plant management with mechanical problem solving.
    • Do the necessary risk assessments of all the mechanical maintenance tasks at hand.
    • Manage the budget effectively and in a cost saving manner.
    • Manage the day-to-day administrative activities for the employees reporting to the position
    • Supervise the day-to-day activities of employees by inspecting and on the job supervision.
    • Do visual inspections of work to be done and on the job risk assessment.
    • Co-ordinate and monitor schedules with plant managers.
    • Implement and monitor OEE’s for bottlenecks, plant and equipment to ensure optimum performance and efficiencies.

    • Co-ordinate and initiate technical investigations into problem areas regarding maintenance

    ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Must be able to analyse and interpret problems on different types of highly complicated machines, equipment and processes of different types and make decisions to solve the problems on his own.
    • Must be able to make quick decisions and judgements within general company policies with little technical guidance.
    • Manage human resources and labour relations within own department to create good relations and climate to work in.
    • Develop and motivate employees to change behaviour to accomplish business plan.
    • Ability to lead people.
    • Communicate to all level of personnel and people from outside (suppliers)
    • Ability for change, efficiency and effectiveness orientated, results orientated, listening and questioning, influencing, decisiveness and good leadership qualities

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    Minimum Requirements:

    • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering industry
