    Maintenance Assistants

    MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTS

    The SAMRC Facilities Management Division requires a skilled experience Maintenance Assistant who will be responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds at the SAMRC Cape Town and Pretoria Offices

    Responsibilities:

    • The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Facilities Handymen to maintain the buildings and grounds.
    • The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for prioritizing and organizing own work to maintain internal and external building infrastructure on a daily basis.
    • Assist with asset transfers and any other facilities management services as requested by the Facilities Handyman or Supervisor.
    • The Maintenance Assistant will perform relieving duties for the Driver and Postal/ Storeman in their absence.
    • Adhere to health, safety and environment regulations and organizational policies and procedures

    Core Requirements:

    • Matric or Equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience
    • Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and air conditioning experience
    • Valid Driver’s License (Code 8 or 10)
    • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
    • Must be able to work unsupervised/without direct supervision.
    • High level of interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate.
    • Must have the ability to work in a team environment.

    2 x Junior Event Administrators

    Responsibilities will include:

    To assist with handling the administrative end of a busy Event Management Office, ensuring that events are professionally managed and ensuring clients are kept satisfied and that events are professionally executed.

    • General day-to-day administrative duties.
    • Providing administrative support to the event manager, event team and organising committee across all events, as required.
    • Develop event-specific organisational tools such as timelines, contact lists, and work deliverables.
    • Organise and prepare meetings with Clients/Committees including compiling relevant information, reports to committee members/clients.
    • Set up events on the Event System.
    • Managing and updating databases (event specific).
    • Compiling and sending out announcements.
    • Coordinate travel (bursary recipients, committees, guests, speakers, etc.).
    • Request and confirm quotes.
    • Prepare event packs and materials.
    • Customer service/support.

    Core Requirements:

    • Matric certificate and relevant short courses
    • 1 – 2 years’ Experience in administering and coordinating events or in a similar role
    • Experience of working on an Event System
    • Experience of working on a financial system

    Subsistence & Travel Administrator

    Responsibilities:

    • Checking subsistence and travel claims including participant claims
    • Checking subsistence and travel advances
    • Processing travel claims and advances on JD Edwards
    • Journal processing
    • Banking deposit slip preparation; communication with bankers regarding incoming funds
    • Analyses of participant general ledger accounts
    • Prepare bank account reconciliation
    • Training staff on travel policy and SOP
    • Preparing funder specific documentation

    Core Requirements:

    • 2 - year national Accounting Diploma/Certificate.
    • At least 2 years post qualification accounting and subsistence and travel experience
    • Strong financial accounting skills
    • Computer literacy – spreadsheet and accounting packages
    • Driver’s license
    • Problem solving, facilitation and people skills.

    Advantageous

    • JDE Experience will be an added advantage.

    Senior Research Technician: Fieldworker

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct education, outreach community activities and educate communities on informed consent processes and procedures
    • Network and liaise with community members, stakeholders and peer educators
    • Recruit, educate and maintain sound relations with trial participants
    • Work on observational studies, prevention studies, treatment studies including COVID-19 studies
    • Implement retention and adherence plans to fulfil protocol requirements
    • Screen potential participants for eligibility, monitor outcomes and document statistics
    • Implement a Geographic Positioning System (GPS) and track outcomes
    • Assist the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) to plan and prepare for community and stakeholder engagements
    • Identify and keep records of new catchment areas for participant recruitment
    • Assist with research- related tasks and duties
    • Provide daily updates to Managers on matters pertinent to participant recruitment, retention and adherence
    • Produce quality reports and ensure that fieldwork is documented accurately

    Core Requirements:

    • Grade 12 certificate (Matric)
    • 1-2 years’ relevant experience in community education and outreach in research or clinical trials
    • Written and verbal fluency in isiZulu and English
    • A Code 8 manual driver’s license is essential for the above post as the incumbent will be required to drive the company vehicle when necessary.
    • Proficient computer skills in MS Office packages.
    • Advantageous/ Preferred qualification/experience:
    • Relevant 1–2-year qualification in social, health, human sciences, or related field or similar higher qualification

    Senior Research Technician: Data Collector

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct interviews with study participants and check the co enrolment database
    • Capture and collect Data whilst maintaining quality control, in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Principles
    • Administration, check Study related documentation, quality control/assurance and indexing of informed consent documents for study participants
    • Assist with data cleaning as designated by the relevant study Principal Investigator/ site manager
    • Prepare study documents, complete and address related queries
    • Assist with translations of research-related documents
    • Create and update study specific logs
    • Assist in providing information to relevant managers for report writing and provide required weekly/monthly individual reports
    • Assist with participant follow-up
    • Plan meetings and/or workshops and prepare minutes for review
    • Assist with re-imbursement of participants, completing re-imbursement logs and preparation for finance reconciliation.

    Core Requirements:

    • Grade 12 / matric or similar relevant qualification or higher
    • 1-2 years relevant experience in research or related environment
    • 1- 2 years Data collection experience
    • 1- 2 years Data entry experience
    • Good written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong computer skills in MS Office packages
    • Fluent in English and isiZulu

    Advantageous:

    • Post Matric qualifications in any research related field
    • A Code 8 manual driver’s licence
    • Effective organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
    • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
    • Willing to work outside normal working hours when required.
