Job Description
- Your Next Career Move Starts Here! Join Spitz in Bryanston, Johannesburg as a Senior Graphic Designer and play a key role in producing visual communications for The Spitz Group for internal programs and external communication using templates and then translating these for the relevant advertising mediums.
- As our Brand Graphic Designer you will be required to create content for a variety of marketing channels, including websites, magazines, product packaging, banners, signage and social media platforms.

Key Areas of Impact:
Digital Marketing
- Ensure the effective output of artwork for Facebook, Instagram, Spitz, Kurt Geiger, the intranet, Takealot and YouTube.
- Plan, produce and edit audio-visual content for brands’ wholesale and social media.
- Write and edit copy for social media posts, email newsletters and promotional material.
- Ensure effective output of flyers, brochures, and catalogues across all brands.
- Create social media assets a month ahead across all platforms as per the below:

Seasonal Campaign Launches
- Ensure successful execution of campaign selects for window banners/ lightboxes, social media and websites.
- Put together retouching briefs and logo placement document for the agency/photographer.
- Create artwork as requested by Brand Marketing and Visual teams for social media, signage and advertising for various campaigns.
- Styled shots of products used to create social media posts.
- PR – prepare existing editorial with respective merchandise item to create social media posts.
- Influencers: prepare images with respective merchandise item to create social media posts.
- Seasonal campaign imagery: prepare with correct logo and according to CI Campaign artwork including that for promotions; lay-by; competitions and RCS. May be across social media, email and print signage.
- Adverts for print purposes.
- Select images with VM from campaign shoots.
- Create retouching brief for the Photographer.
- Create logo placement doc for the agency.
- Create mockups for light boxes/banners for VM to get general feel/understanding.
- Update email signatures with new campaign images and send them to everyone in the business.
- Create catalogues and leaflets for wholesalers for Green Cross and Gant.
Store Closures/ Openings
- Ensure deadlines are met for posters and hoarding indicating store closure/ openings/ directions to pop up to reach stores in a timely fashion.
- Liaison between retouching agencies to ensure full sets of campaign images are saved and catalogued.
- Assist Property/OPS with A4 A3 A1 A0 posters and decals for in store perspex holders/ windows/ hoarding to notify customers about store closures/pop-ups/ openings.
- Create collateral to market the closure/opening to customers on social media/website.
Maintain Brand Corporate Identity
- Ensure corporate identity agreed seasonally and at a brand level is adhered to for all content being created.
- Ensure full understanding of CI changes – as indicated by brand and digital team and be able to implement.
- Ensure logos and CI documents are kept updated as used for reference.
- Assist Merchandise, Planning, QA across brands with Corporate Identities
- Update packaging/ footwear/ accessories/ swing tags/ with correct specs for suppliers to provide samples to head office.
Photo Editing
- All retouching of photographic images produced through each season for Spitz, Kurt Geiger and occasionally Gant.
- Clean up all images at a high level of detail e.g. backgrounds; dust, scratches etc.
- Resize images according to required formats.
- Save and catalogue images on the shared server to ensure that they are easy to find and always accessible. Maintain electronic archiving of various images and creative libraries (namely organogram images; seasonal campaign images and product shots).
- Create content, design cover and divider pages for merchandise guides including store lookbooks and wholesale guidelines. Insert products and article numbers
- Manage and guide the Brand Photographer with editing footwear or clothing across brands to be placed on the website and in launch booklets.
Ad-hoc
- Assist key role players in various departments with ad-hoc graphic work across all brands inclusive of assisting the photographer in editing images of footwear and clothing for the website when needed.
What It Takes to Succeed:
Experience that set you up for success:
- 6 to 8 years as a Graphic Designer with demonstrated experience operating at a Senior level
Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:
- A Degree/Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Arts or equivalent is required.
- DTP certification will be an advantage.
