    Account Director - Sandton

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: 

    • To provide excellent account management services by assuming control of and accountability for the delivery of the account strategy and to ensure good financial management of all accounts under your control

    KEY REPONSIBILITIES:

    • The orchestration of great creative presentations
    • To ensure the profitable delivery of relevant portfolios
    • To have a sound working knowledge and understanding of the communications research process and its various methodologies
    • To manage client relationships effectively
    • To have an in-depth understanding of the client’s business
    • To offer strategic input to the client’s business
    • To optimise the client’s marketing budget
    • To be aware of national and international trends in the client’s business
    • To grow the portfolio into other areas of the client’s business
    • To manage deadlines effectively
    • To manage personnel
    • To mentor and coach personnel
    • To allocate work to relevant divisions or companies within the group
    • To maintain good relationships within the agency
    • To oversee the administration of the account
    • To ensure the profitability of the account
    • To ensure Creative is properly briefed
    • To have a good working knowledge and understanding of TBWA’s philosophies and strategic proprietary tools – Disruption\, Connections\, MBA\
    • To have a sound knowledge of all production processes within the agency
    • To fill in time sheets on a weekly basis
    • To attend all training initiatives
    • To alert agency management to potential problems/crises timeously
    • To undertake to work additional hours outside of regular business hours as part of the job, with no extra remuneration, as and when required
    • To develop an acute ability to judge great work and great ideas

    Description
    Client Service / Business Management

    • To manage the delivery and set income targets for one or a group of clientsExplore and recommend new cost effective/innovative methods to deliver campaigns
    • Through research and actively networking within the industry, ensure that theLead Employer is at the forefront of innovation and that this knowledge is shared across your peer group and throughout your team
    • Overall delivery of client briefs through active team management and distribution of workload
    • Manage all day-to-day activity relating to the client account
    • Understand the role of communication within the broader business context to aid thedevelopment of the agency's relationship with the client from advertising supplier tomarketing communication partner and Brand Leader
    • Ensure a thorough understanding of the production processes and costs in order to maximize agency profitability and client budgets
    • Deliver business initiatives that enhance the development of skills, knowledge and good practice in the Lead Employer   
    • Deliver tactical solutions when necessary to achieve higher quality within the confines of cost and time ensuring that any change is clearly communicated across the business
    • To implement change within the business to achieve operational excellence to take the lead asbrand leaders with the Client and throughout the agency
    • Case Studies:  ensure detailed strategic case studies of all campaigns on are kept and updatedon a quarterly basis
    • Explore and secure opportunities for organic growth and cross-selling
    • Assist with New Business activities e.g. Project Management of a pitch
    • To ensure clear understanding of the client's business requirements and to translate this intoclear deliverables for your team
    • Leading & driving integration between various agencies working on the Client's account
    • Adhere to company guidelines, such as timely completion of performance conversations andtime sheets, accurate revenue forecasts and achieving ultimate utilization of budgets and targets
    • Ensure understanding of the relevant client contract and relevant legal/regulatory guidelines
    • To actively network within the industry to identify and create potential leads, contacts,opportunities for the Lead Employer  
    • Leading and driving integration between various agencies working on the client's accountClient Relationship Development
    • Seek to extend the realm of the client relationship and aim at delivering business solutionsfor the client, e.g. digital activation, etc.
    • Continuously provide input into the strategic direction of each client account  and ensurecommunication of any directional changes to your team and to the creative teams
    • Seek opportunities to develop more business opportunities for your client, utilizing additionalservices whenever possible
    • Routinely review client account with management to assess business potential  and profitabilityof account relationships
    • Drive Aprais / Yardstick or other action plans & continuously drive an awareness of how allactions have an impact on the Aprais scores
    • Developing a brand advertising strategy with the Strategic Planner and Account Director andensuring the Group Account Director / Account Director is versed in all elements of the strategy as well as selling the brand advertising strategy to the client
    • Ensure that neither the agency nor the client veer off the strategy
    • Build the strength of the business relationship through delivery of value added services
    • Debating and agreeing final creative work with direct reports as well as the Creative Director aswell as lead the client creative presentation process Collaboration and Team Work  
    • Raise the profile of the Department and foster good relationships across all divisions in the Company
    • Work in partnership with the creative teams to provide excellent creative solution for yourclient's needs at all time
    • Work with all departments to improve efficiencies and delivery on all accountsTeam Leadership
    • Manage your team by coaching, training and career development
    • Help to create the best standards that will become TBWA\Group best practices
    • Manage the performance of your team to continuously achieve or better income targets
    • Allocate resources within your team to maximize skill set and client coverage
    • Coach and mentor individuals to develop the skills and talent that exist within the agency
    • Create clear development plans for your team and yourself in line with business and individualneeds
    • Build respect and loyal commitment of Account teamEnsure thorough knowledge of HR processes
    • To support the pro-active recruitment and development of the best account teams within the company
    • Recommend salary levels in accordance with individual performance and market rates
    • Adhere to and ensure adherence to company performance and behavior expectations, e.g.timekeeping, timeous completion of timesheets, Company Policies and Procedures etc.Financial Management
    • Ensure a balance between maximizing profit on an account, presenting the agency in the best
    • possible light and developing and executing the best possible workEnsure invoicing and financial administration of the highest standards to ensure timeous
    • collection of income and collection of fees for the agencyProvide monthly forecasts and income reports to your team associates
    • Drive the ethics of cost control and income growth all the way through your team
    • To oversee the management of the income for all Client accounts
    • To monitor all billings procedures carried out by Account team and alert the CSD promptly to
    • any likely changes to billing and income or any potential write-offsManage and control Client and project profitability
