    Sr. Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer, Field Engineering

    Description

We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.     • You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.     As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the ‘go to’ engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams to:

    • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
    • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
    • Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency and sustainability.
    • Interface with internal data center operations team, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
    • Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.
    • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
    • Initiate and lead engineering audits including on-site visits within Amazon’s data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.
    • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and turnover

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
    • NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
    • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
    • Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
    • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production

    • Experience and track record of exceeding sales goals
    • Experience engaging with customer relationships at the CXO level
    • Experience creating and implementing long-term transformational account strategies in a customer-facing role or equivalent
    • Experience selling cloud solutions

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience building and managing a healthy sales pipeline focused on driving revenue, adoption, and market penetration

    Basic Qualifications

    • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
    • 7+ years of engineering experience
    • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
    • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline or equivalent

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
    • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
    • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
    • Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced, multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment
