    Senior Manager: Audit Technical Standards (JHB Illovo)

    Description

    • The senior manager in audit technical standards is based within the audit technical department and is responsible for providing audit technical support to the audit practice nationally.
    • The audit technical support predominantly includes consultations on firm methodology, audit opinions and audit software. The senior manager is also responsible for providing support within the department with key audit efficiency and quality projects, technical communication, as well as delivering audit technical training and designing training content.

    Key Performance Areas:

    Strategy:

    • Provide input into the formulation of the department strategy, contribute to the development of the business plan and internal processes to support the strategy, and implementation of the strategy. This includes project planning, resource planning, liaising with staff, reporting on project status, and post project completion analysis to ensure that business requirements are met.

    Quality and process:

    • Providing audit technical consultations to audit staff in respect of firm methodology, ISAs, modified audit/review/other related opinions, and audit software.
    • Manage and prepare audit quality and efficiency projects such as internal audit guidance, producing audit templates, tailoring audit software content, and data analytics projects.
    • Prepare and/or review the design of audit technical training material on quality workshops to qualified staff, delivering these workshops, and interaction with the training department to ensure training content is technically up to date.
    • Maintaining the audit technical content on the intranet.

    People development, learning and growth:

    • Provide input to colleagues on their audit technical tasks performed.
    • Promoting teamwork with the audit technical team by assisting and supporting team members with deliverables, as well as knowledge sharing with team members and the business at large.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to self-development and growth through research and attending courses relevant to the role.
    • Keeping abreast of relevant changes within their field of work, identifying areas of development and engaging with the National Head of Audit Standards to seek the relevant skill development, and writing thought leadership commentary/blogs/technical articles.

    • CA(SA)
    • 1-2 years post articles experience within an Audit Manager/Supervisor role

    • BDO Cape Town is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Audit Recruitment Specialist to support our efforts in attracting exceptional talent for our Cape Town audit department.     Key Responsibilities:

    Requirements
    Qualifications and Experience:

    • A relevant diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • 2–4 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or related functions, ideally within a professional services or audit environment.
    • Exposure to campus recruitment and/or bursary programs is essential.
    • Strong analytical skills to measure and report on recruitment outcomes.

    Review Consultant (Cape Town CBD)

    Description

    • The Review Consultant will work as part of a dedicated team, performing day to day residential service charge work autonomously and at a high quality, managing client specific projects to achieve client KPIs. The Review Consultant takes significant responsibility for management of the client and supporting team, reporting directly to the Manager. They will have primary responsibility for ensuring that input, output and project management are of the highest quality.    

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Initial examination of service charge accounts, dependent on scope of work. 
    • Preparation of service charge accounts.  
    • Initial review of audit teams work to ensure all testing performed and concluded on and performing quality control review of any queries and adjustments sent to client.  
    • Reviewing and concluding on client responses to the audit queries and adjustments and following up on outstanding issues by phone, email and in person.  
    • Preparation of accountants’ or auditors’ reports, dependent on scope of work.  
    • Preparation of client required schedules – both internal and those to be issued with draft reports.  
    • Liaising with clients as needed, dealing with issues which may arise, escalating to Managers as required.  
    • Clearing Managers / Director review points. 
    • Taking on responsibility for project management (e.g. managing the chasing of files, ensuring workload is monitored and turnaround times are adhered to, supporting Managers to meet KPIs,   understanding the status of developments). 
    • Managing client coordinators and executives for specific clients.  
    • Supporting the Managers / Director to provide training to clients on IT systems, BDO process and technical issues.  
    • Involvement in new client transitions with guidance from managers.

    Job specifications:

    • Responsibility for looking after the accounting and VAT of clients located in Switzerland, UK and Cayman Islands
    • Good understanding of Fund accounting and the accounting treatments for fund accounts

    Description

    Financial Management:

    • Ensure compliance of the provisions of the Companies Act and rule s made thereunder and other statutes and byelaws of companies.
    • Advise, liaise and correspond with clients, consultants and vendor s regarding the Annual Return, XBRL and compliance checklist processes.
    • Submit Annual Returns, XBRL Annual Financial Statements and compliance checklist to CIPC for clients.
