    Technical Support Engineer

    • Dahua Technology South Africa is seeking a highly skilled technical support engineer with extensive knowledge in the security surveillance and access control industry to join our team in Cape Town.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Introduce new product features to the Channel Customers, help customers to select and configure products.
    • Maintain knowledge of technology innovations and trends.
    • Understand and consolidate customer demand for products, feedback to product department for product improvement.
    • Coordinate resources, provide technical support
    • Identify, investigate and resolve user problems with software and hardware.
    • Field support calls, chat, email, and/or other communication from users with inquiries regarding software programming, connectivity, printing, and similar concerns.
    • Consulting with clients to determine steps and procedures taken to identify and resolve the problem.
    • Apply knowledge of software, hardware, and procedures to solve problems.
    • Guide users through diagnostic and troubleshooting processes, which may include use of diagnostic tools and software and/or following verbal instructions.
    • Collaborate with other staff to research and resolve problems.
    • Arranges service by RMA to repair or replace defective products.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Job requirements:

    • Degree in Network, communications, computer science and other related fields
    • Customer service oriented
    • Strong written and verbal and troubleshooting skills
    • At least 2 years of experience in customer technical support highly preferred.
    • Technical knowledge in the CCTV and Network field
    • Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical employees and customers.

    Job Description 

    Customer Requirement Analysis & Solution Design: 

    • Engage with customers to understand their security needs, business background, and project objectives. 
    • Develop comprehensive security system solutions based on customer requirements, including system architecture design, device selection, and technical configurations.
    • Provide technical consultations and address any technical queries related to product selection, system design, and integration. 

    Proposal and Tender Documentation:

    •  Assist the sales team in preparing proposals, technical documentation, and product information in line with customer requirements and tender specifications. 
    • Write the technical sections of bid documents to ensure compliance with the tender requirements and to enhance the company’s product and solution competitiveness.

    Product Demonstrations & Technical Presentations: 

    • Collaborate with the sales team to conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations, showcasing the technical advantages and applications of the company’s security solutions. 
    • Customize demonstrations to align with customer needs, ensuring effective communication of solution benefits and technical features.

    Technical Communication & Customer Interaction: 

    • Facilitate ongoing technical communication with customers, addressing inquiries regarding products, system architecture, and integration. 
    • Work closely with the customer and project management teams to ensure a smooth transition from the pre-sales phase to project implementation.

    Market Research & Product Feedback: 

    • Stay updated on the latest trends in security technology, conduct market research, and analyze competitors’ products and solutions. 
    •  Provide feedback to the product development team on customer requirements, market demands, and potential areas for product improvement or innovation. 

    Technical Support & Training: 

    •  Provide internal training to sales teams and other technical staff to ensure they understand and can effectively communicate product features and technical specifications. 
    •  Offer technical training and support to customers, ensuring they are well versed in product usage and system operations. 

    Project Support & Follow-up: 

    • Assist the sales team in tracking project progress, coordinating with stakeholders, and providing ongoing technical support during the sales process. 
    • Ensure that all pre-sales activities are completed on time and that the project successfully transitions to the implementation phase. 

    Job requirements: 

    Educational Background: 

    • Diploma or higher in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, Automation, Security Engineering, or related fields. 

    Work Experience: 

    • 3+ years of experience in the security industry, particularly in pre-sales engineering or technical support. 
    • Experience with security systems such as video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, or other related security technologies. 
    • Prior experience in creating and delivering proposals, technical documentation, and participating in tendering processes is highly desirable. 

    Technical Skills: 

    • Strong knowledge of security systems and products (e.g., video surveillance, access control, intrusion alarm systems, smart security). 
    • Familiar with system architecture design, product selection, and integration principles. 
    •  Understanding of networking, storage, and cloud computing technologies as they relate to security systems.
    • Ability to select appropriate technologies and optimize solutions based on customer needs. 

    Communication Skills: 

    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers in an easy-to understand manner. 
    •  Strong presentation and demonstration skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and informative product presentations. 
    •  Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and product development. 

    Other Requirements: 

    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment. 
    • Willingness to travel as required by project demands.
