    Financial Manager

     

    Applications are invited for the above mentioned position based at the Distell Libertas Office, Stellenbosch. This position reports directly to the General Manager: SA Distilleries with an indirect reporting line to the Finance Manager: SA Manufacturing.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

    • Critical analysis of SA Distilleries performance against standards, budget and forecast
    • Validate the financial impact and affordability of the site business plans and ensure alignment to the Supply Chain strategy
    • Evaluate and present standards review changes for costing with relevant supporting motivations which includes financial impact and ensure implementation
    • Define Financial Roles and Responsibilities for non-financial managers (production and service departments) and coach line management where required
    • Interpret results of productivity measurements, propose optimal practices for the sites and measure the implementation and results thereof
    • Consolidate and evaluate the forecasted financial performance for the site based on the current business climate
    • Assist the site managers to compile the sites’ business plans (short and long term), present for approval and monitor the execution of the plan
    • Provide the budget guidelines and framework for each business unit, critically evaluate and compile the consolidated budget for SA Distilleries
    • Evaluate site capital requirements in line with the 5 year plan and current business requirements
    • Evaluate and ensure financial decisions comply with IFRS requirements
    • Review relevant site Internal Controls and Checks (ICC's) monthly and identify mitigating controls and corrective actions to minimise risk
    • Review proposed changes to Excise governance SOP's
    • Ensure all governance policies and procedures are updated, available and communicated to relevant stakeholders
    • Participate in cross-site audits and stock takes
    • Effective management of fixed assets
    • Ad hoc financial analysis of opportunities to reduce Working Capital or optimise plants/processes
    • Optimise production and stock models
    • Responsible for all JV’s managed by SA Distilleries

    The successful candidate will have the following attributes, experience & qualifications:

    • Relevant Accounting degree required
    • Relevant Honours Degree will be highly advantageous
    • Knowledge of Excise duties/accounts will be highly advantageous
    • Minimum 5 years relevant business experience
    • Advanced MS Office skills
    • Sound knowledge of SAP and /or other ERP systems
    • Communication skills that include excellent negotiation skills, ability to network and excellent presentation skills
    • High energy levels and a self-starter
    • Good analytical skills and ability to interpret and present financial and statistical data
    • Strong decision making and problem solving ability
    • Opportunity seeking attitude with sound business skills and judgement
    • Excellent time management skills and a sense of urgency
    • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
    • Ability to work accurately under pressure
    • Adaptable to change
    • Willingness to work irregular hours when required

    2 x Internship: Quality Control

    Purpose Of The Positions

    • Successful interns will be expected to enter into a full-time 12 month contract commencing on the 1st of February 2019 and terminating on the 31 January 2020.
    • The intention is to give practical work experience to students who are currently studying towards a relevant formal qualification.

    Key Learning Areas Include, But Are Not Limited To

    • Quality Assurance (Intrinsic & extrinsic quality control; Quality Management Systems; etc.)
    • Research
    • Production

    To qualify for selection and participation in this programme, candidates must satisfy the following criteria:

    • South African citizenship.
    • Satisfactory academic record and in final year of obtaining relevant tertiary qualification or recently qualified (e.g. National Diploma in Food Technology, National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, BSc Bio Technology, etc).
    • Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
    • Sound communication and presentation skills.
    • Effective time management skills with the ability to multi-task and perform under pressure.
    • Ability to work in a team.
    • Ability to cope with the inherent physical demands of the position.
    • Willing and able to work extended hours.
    • Reliable transport to and from place of work.
    • Must be willing, able and committed to enter into and complete the 12 month internship programme.

    • Certified copy of tertiary academic record (progress report).
    • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate.
    • A letter from the tertiary institution stating the internship requirement and format for evaluation.

    Admin Co-ordinator

     

    It is a key position that takes full administrative and secretarial responsibility for the region.

    Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Budget processes and responsibilities
    • Capturing of budgets and forecasting.
    • Cost Centre Management.
    • Regional Reporting.
    • Fleet administration.
    • Meeting minutes.
    • General office administration.
    • Assist with Management Presentation compilation.
    • Expense claims.
    • Assist with administration of sales tools of trade (tablets, cell phones, laptops)
    • Co-ordination of events, workshops & trainings
    • Processing orders/requisitions on SAP
    • Processing & capture Sales Stock for sales Managers and Sales Team
    • Processing claims and credit of Customers for Sales Managers & Sales Team

    The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

    • A Secretarial/Administration/Business or relevant qualification.
    • 3 -5 years’ experience as an admin controller/sales co-ordinator will be advantageous
    • Proven computer literacy in SAP, MS Office and Qlikview
    • Attention to detail.
    • Business Reports Writing skills.
    • Sound communication skills
    • Sound Numerical aptitude is essential.
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
    • The ability to multi-task.
    • Effective Time Management.
    • Understanding of basic financial concepts including variance reporting
