    Scada Engineer

    Job Summary:

    The Digital Solutions SCADA Engineer will be responsible for managing the design, installation,and commissioning processes for the SCADA Systems during the Engineering and Construction, as well as the Operations and Maintenance phases of Enel Green Power’s renewable energy power plants. They will participate in and contribute to other areas within the Digital Solutions department as required, working closely with key business partners, internal technology teams and external vendors.

    Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Implement processes for relevant platforms and ensure
      compliance with requirements, company policies and ICT policies within the Digital Solutions department.
    • The SCADA Engineer may also be responsible for providing technical support to the Business Development Unit regarding the SCADA System architecture requirements and feasibility studies.
    • Installation, management, maintenance, and documentation of the SCADA Systems and related components.
    • Engineer digital solutions in support of the overall objectives of EGP Southern Africa.
    • Provide technical leadership, governance and oversight for the design and implementation of SCADA systems, within the EGP Southern Africa’s plant monitoring and control systems environment, with a core focus on end-user system functionality to ensure reliability, accessibility, and compliance to local regulations and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
    • Work with business unit executives and service providers to introduce the required system functionalities onto the SCADA systems environment.
    • Participate in new plants SCADA infrastructure design and setup, in cooperation with Engineering & Construction and/or other involved parties and on activities coordinated by the EGP Digital Solutions organization.
    • Ensure the efficient status of plants and control room network and security equipment by making use of appropriate monitoring tools and/or relying on dedicated specific suppliers.
    • Manage and collect equipment security and plant connectivity logs.
    • Implement process control security and network equipment configurations.
    • Manage the IP Addressing Plan for his/her area of responsibility.
    • Produce and update documentation regarding design rules, network topology, cabling, communication and routing protocols, equipment configuration used in the EGP headquarters, plants and control rooms.
    • Apply software and firmware updates on SCADA systems and related equipment.
    • Ensure that the proper process for managing changes on SCADA architecture at the organization’s plants and control rooms is followed.
    • Create and manage centrally located user accounts and related access profiles for SCADA systems, network systems, and process equipment access.
    • Participate in the periodic Digital Solutions budget definition process.
    • Manage the needs of the local and central O&M department, based on Digital Solutions process needs.
    • Manage CAPEX, OPEX and purchase requirements on the organization’s CRM and ERP systems.
    • Create and manage Service Level Agreements with third party providers.
    • Manage the budget and contracts for his/her area of responsibility.

    Educational & Professional Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Automation or Mechatronics.
    • Minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience in a medium/big-sized company, preferably with an Industrial Control Systems focus.
    • Experience in a renewable energy organization will be considered an advantage.
    • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification an advantage.
    • CISC, CISSO Certification an advantage.

    Technical Competencies Required:

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active Directory and networking architectures, both from server and client perspectives.
    • Knowledge of WAN topology and architecture solutions (i.e. MPLS, VPN IPSec, etc.)
    • Good knowledge of ISO/OSI layered model.
    • In-depth knowledge of IP protocols and their services at the application layer such as: RIP,RDP, FTP, HTTP, BGP, SSH and Telnet.
    • Knowledge of the major IP encapsulated process control protocols: Modbus TCP, Profinet, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/103/104, ICCP etc.
    • Knowledge of OPC protocol versions; i.e. OPC UA, OPC DA, OPC XML, etc.
    • Good knowledge of ICT security risks and vulnerabilities in an operational technology environment.
    • Knowledge of ISO 2700X standards will be considered an advantage.
    • Knowledge of LDAP, and related standards and protocols.
    • Familiarity with high availability, business impact analysis and business continuity concepts.
    • Good knowledge of ITIL service delivery framework.
    • Knowledge of the standards for the Industrial Process field such as NERC CIP V3, IEC 62351,and NIST SP800-82 SP2 will be considered as an advantage.
    • Knowledge of Project Management methodology and tools.
    • Knowledge of Cisco, Checkpoint, and Fortigate equipment and technology, including
    • Switches, Firewalls, Hyper-V, UTM devices, will be considered an advantage.
    • Broad knowledge relating to ICT infrastructure; in–depth and up-to-date experience in SCADA Systems, Industrial Control Systems, Operational Technology, South African Grid Code, and others is vital.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading SCADA Systems projects, architectures, systems, and processes.
    • Knowledge of Energy Management Systems or Generation Management Systems and supporting architectures.
    •  Experience in power generation equipment or transmission grid management by means of SCADA Systems will be considered an advantage.
    • Sound knowledge of the Information and Operational Technology fundamentals.
    • Knowledge of Metering Systems, GPS Systems, Surveillance Systems, and Met Towers.
    • SAP experience will be considered an advantage.

    Project Manager

    Job Summary:

    EGP RSA is seeking a Project Manager  to join our team within the Engineering & Construction  environment  to join our team in Johannesburg. The Project Manager must have experience with large scale power plants and specifically be able to engage. Manage renewable projects from the initial business development phase through commercial operation by leading and executing the following activities from conceptual and preliminary design, all the way to project completion and handover to operations.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Support Business Development during all phases of the assessment of the opportunity (due diligence, feasibility study, investment memorandum, budgets, etc.)
    • Ensure that assigned projects are carried out in compliance with EGP RSA objectives of safety, time, cost and quality;                                                          
    • Manage multination and multicultural, project team and coordinate/attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders.                            
    • Support development of and manage of the major supply and construction contracts from the tender preparation to the completion of the agreement
    • Produce, revise, monitor and assess the project schedule/progress during all of the project phases (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Completion of agreement
    • Support the Procurement Department during all phases of the procurement process (e.g., scouting, RFPs, proposal evaluation, contract negotiations, claims)
    • Produce weekly/month project progress reports for senior management                                              
    • Monitor and Assess the Project Budgets                                                                                                              
    • Support the Engineering and Construction Department for all phase of the project (scope of work review, drawing review, QA&QC, etc.)
    • Participate and collaborate with corporate project team as assigned
    • Promote the Safety Policy and behavior
    • Ensure that the EGP RSA Policies and Procedures are followed and complied with
    • Frequent travel to project site

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong Knowledge of Construction & Supply Agreements (e.g. FIDIC)
    • Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Ability to mentor, direct and delegate to project team.
    • Excellent organizational skills with ability manage and implement procedural changes
    • Project management practices and problem solving.
    • Skilled in cash flow, financial modeling, taxes, and managing budgets
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and cooperate effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational teams
    • Strong capability in conflict resolution
    • Advanced Knowledge MS Office, Outlook, Excel, MS Project and SAP
    • Aptitude to switch to different technologies (wind, solar, geo, hydro and biomass)
    • Excellent stress management and multicultural work environment management
    • Ability to adjust the working hour in case of peak periods
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • PMI Certification
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years Engineering and Construction experience in Power Generation (Large Scale), Renewable Energy, or Large Industrial Engineering and Construction facilities. 

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Ability to accept temporary construction management assignments
    • Regular driver’s license required
    • Ability/flexibility to travel for short and long term periods both domestically and internationally.
