    Kitchen Sculler

    Job Description

    • The Faircape Group owns and manages six luxury retirement/lifestyle villages within the Western Cape.
    • We are currently seeking a dedicated Kitchen Sculler to service our facility Bridgewater Manor in Somerset West to sure that the kitchen area is kept clean and hygienic at all times.
    • (Preference will be given to candidates residing within the areas closer to Somerset West)

     Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • To ensure that the kitchen is clean and tidy, equipment is clean and dustbins have been emptied
    • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans
    • Ensure fridges, windows and walls are clean at all times
    • Remove waste, placing it in designated pickup areas
    • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
    • To adhere to the health and hygiene standards in the kitchen

    Experience and knowledge:

    • 6 months experience in cleaning, preferably in hotels and restaurants (advantageous)

    Qualifications:

    • Relevant culinary qualifications would be advantageous

    Food Services Manager

     

    Job Description

    • Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of the Faircape Life retirement villages, is located across 6 prime locations in the Western Cape, providing high-quality meal and refreshment services to residents and patients in our onsite healthcare centres.
    • We are looking for a Senior Food Service Manager (SFSM) who will work across all villages and oversee the front of house Food Service Managers and their teams. The successful incumbent will ensure service excellence, seamless operations, compliance with standards, comprehensive training across all sites, and exceptional resident satisfaction.

    Duties include but are not limited to the following:

    Front of House Service Oversight

    • Oversee the delivery of high-quality meal and refreshment services across all villages (clubhouse, dining room, bar, healthcare, and coffee shop).
    • Ensure Food Service Managers coordinate teams effectively to deliver exceptional service.
    • Monitor, manage, and review FOH service standards at all villages.
    • Implement and enforce operational procedures to support service excellence and consistency.
    • Ensure FOH setups for meal services and events are completed timeously and according to standards.
    • Ensure adherence to serving etiquette, presentation standards, and Faircape hygiene requirements.
    • Meet and greet residents and manage compliments and complaints professionally.
    • Ensure clubhouse and healthcare areas are correctly set up daily.
    • Attend catering committee meetings where relevant.

    Stock Control

    • Ensure FSMs conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts.
    • Oversee ordering processes in conjunction with Kitchen Managers.
    • Ensure stock of beverages, glassware, and FOH equipment is accurately managed and accounted for.
    • Review daily stock updates and ensure variances are resolved.

    Coffee Shop Management

    • Oversee coffee shop service delivery, stock control, billing accuracy, and daily cash-ups.
    • Ensure excellent customer experience and zero errors in billing and stock management.

    Events Management

    • Plan and coordinate village events with Village Managers and stakeholders.
    • Ensure adequate staffing, budgeting, setup, service, and breakdown for all events.
    • Ensure all décor and equipment is safely stored after events.
    • Provide on-the-floor support during major events.

    Daily Checks

    • Ensure FSMs complete daily operational checks (lights, TVs, music, air conditioning, setups).
    • Conduct verification checks during village visits.
    • Report anomalies to Village Managers or Maintenance teams.

    Billing

    • Ensure accurate billing of meals, beverages, and bar items by FSMs.
    • Ensure all slips are signed and billing follows procedure.
    • Support Kitchen Managers with billing accuracy for stock alignment.

    Staff Management

    • Oversee the delivery of high-quality meal and refreshment services across all villages (clubhouse, dining room, bar, healthcare, and coffee shop).
    • Ensure Food Service Managers coordinate teams effectively to deliver exceptional service.

    • Relieve Food Service Managers when needed.
    • Ensure staff are trained, supported, and performing at expected standards.

    Training

    • Identify development needs and create training modules.
    • Plan, execute, and oversee ongoing training for FOH teams.
    • Review and update training materials regularly to ensure relevance.
    • Ensure 100% compliance with training schedules and competency assessments.
    • Drive continuous improvement of service and staff capability.

    Policies & Procedures

    • Recommend procedural improvements and ensure approval processes are followed.
    • Ensure policies and procedures are implemented, trained, and adhered to.
    • Load policies onto the system within agreed timelines.
    • Ensure FSMs and staff comply with operational rosters and service standards.
    • Drive improved systems, controls, and customer service processes.

    Reporting

    • Submit complete, detailed daily and weekly reports.
    • Highlight anomalies, concerns, and performance gaps.
    • Provide action plans for each village visit.
    • Escalate critical areas to the Claremont office.

    Hygiene & Safety

    • Ensure all staff comply with company hygiene and safety standards.
    • Ensure uniforms are clean, presentable, and aligned with Faircape standards.
    • Oversee safety and hygiene compliance in all working areas.
    • Conduct ongoing training related to hygiene and safety practices.

    Qualifications
