    Proposal Coordinator - Johannesburg

    • Hatch is currently seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Proposal Coordinator to join our global Client Action Team (CAT), supporting sales efforts in Africa, India, and the Middle East. 
    • Our global team is experienced in business development, marketing and pursuit management, engineering, and project management. While our backgrounds are diverse our goal is singular: to help Hatch teams be more successful in their winning work efforts. 
    • Based in Johannesburg, you’ll play a key role in shaping and supporting the proposal team’s goal of producing winning submissions. You’ll manage the administrative side of proposal development – from maintaining the SharePoint site and creating custom templates, to coordinating inputs/reviews, and overseeing final production.

    As the successful candidate, you will: 

    • Support the Pursuit Manager and Proposal Process Lead in organizing proposal kick-off meetings and co-facilitating ongoing proposal coordination meetings.
    • Develop proposal outlines, draft standard content, format documents, and manage final assembly and submission.
    • Facilitate internal reviews and ensure compliance with RFP requirements by providing an additional layer of quality control.
    • Coordinate technical inputs and update/customize CVs, bios, project descriptions, and other proposal content.
    • Track progress against the proposal schedule and follow up with contributors to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Manage and maintain proposal files and databases using appropriate information management systems (e.g., SharePoint).
    • Collaborate with the graphics team to develop tailored visual content.
    • Support post-submission activities, including clarifications and additional documentation.
    • Maintain and update libraries of supporting materials, including CVs, project sheets, images, and testimonials.

    You bring to the role:

    • A diploma or degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent experience.
    • 2+ years of proposal development experience, including at least 1 year of experience as a proposal coordinator.
    • Exceptional writing skills with a keen eye for grammar, clarity, and consistency in editing and proofreading.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
    • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
    • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
    • Familiarity with SharePoint, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), and CRM tools (an asset). 
    • Working knowledge of the engineering, procurement, and construction management consulting industry (highly desirable).

    Architect - Johannesburg

    • Our Johannesburg office is seeking a skilled Architect to join the Architectural team. As part of Hatch Architecture, the role of an architect is to participate in the production of architectural deliverables working directly with designers, technologists, engineers, and project managers to successfully deliver diverse projects, buildings, and facilities. They coordinate work amongst all disciplines, CAD managers and sub-consultants. They require moderate supervision and guidance from senior architects but also have accountability for their deliverable production. 
    • Master of Architecture Degree (M.Arch (Prof.))
    • Professional Architect (Pr. Arch) with SACAP is essential.

    As the successful candidate, you will: (duties)

    • Attain clientele and establish work networks.
    • Develop architectural design of buildings and facilities producing deliverables to illustrate conceptual, schematic, and detailed design. Producing presentation material including sketches, details, perspectives, diagrams, and similar graphic representation by hand and with design software (Must be able to draw freehand conceptual sketches).
    • Produce architectural construction drawing sets, reports, studies, specifications, and other deliverables required in multiple stages of design. 
    • Coordinate interdisciplinary design with discipline leads, project managers, and stakeholders.  
    • Assist senior architects, senior architectural designers, and senior interior designers on delegated tasks for design, research, office administration, project managements, construction administration, and project closeout.  
    • Oversee junior and intermediate staff activities taking responsibility for their work and mentoring them to develop their skills and capacities. 

    You bring to the role: (qualifications & experience)

    Essential: 

    • 5-10 years post-qualification experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment and mentorship experience.
    • Experience in Brownfields and Greenfields developments – focus on industrial and mission critical facilities.
    • Has moderate understanding of international, national, regional, and local building codes, by-laws, design guidelines, and regulations. 
    • Has working knowledge of architectural graphic standards, technical standards, material and performance certifications, standards, and testing organizations such as ISO, SANS, NBR, etc. 
    • Experience working and collaborating in virtual team environment.
    • Experience in master planning of industrial sites and buildings, incorporating process flows and coordination.
    • Experience with Common Data Environments and other relevant platforms
    • Ability to liaise with relevant stakeholders on all levels.
    • Has good understanding of project management principles. 
    • Has performed work under the supervision of a licensed architect being accountable for the quality and content of deliverables produced. 
    • Experience working and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
    • Coordinated design work with disciplines such as structural, civil, drainage, roads, landscape, sustainability, mechanical, electrical, communications, utilities, etc. 
    • Produced construction drawings that include but are not limited to context plans, site plans, floor plans, demolition plans, renovation plans, roof plans, exterior elevations, interior sections, wall sections, details, schedules, etc. 
    • Assisted in the production of construction documents such as building code compliance reviews, technical specifications, performance specifications. 
    • Assisted in the production and review of technical documentation such as design briefs and reports, design basis and criteria, material take-offs, vendor documents, bids, and project sheets. 
    • Assisted in construction administration documents such as RFI’s, shop drawings, samples, site instructions, change orders, bills of materials, cost estimates, site visit reports, deficiency lists, etc. 
    • Worked extensively with two-dimensional drafting software for production of drawings such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc. 
    • Has worked with tri-dimensional modelling software such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, FormIt, Vray, Lumion, etc. to produce massing models, renderings, and animations. 
    • Worked with BIM modelling software such as Revit, AECOsim, OpenBuildings, etc. to produce construction drawings. BIM and Revit proficiency (advanced level) are mandatory and will be assessed. Certificates are beneficial.
    • Worked with administrative software such as MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, ProjectWise, MS Teams, Webex, etc. 
    • Worked in fast-paced team environments while simultaneously managing multiple projects on different software platforms. Ability to learn new standards, skills, software, and tools required to perform the work. 

    Preferred:

    • OpenBuildings proficiency beneficial
    • Revit proficiency, certificates beneficial
    • Worked with graphic design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, etc.

    Architectural Technologist - Johannesburg

    Summary:

    • Our Johannesburg office is seeking a skilled Architectural Technologist to join the Architectural team. The role involves delivering architectural design and technical documentation across projects of varying scale and complexity, from concept through to construction.

    Facilities Assistant - Johannesburg

    • We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our offices, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment through effective coordination of maintenance, vendors, and workplace services.
    • The Facilities Assistant supports the efficient operation and maintenance of facilities across multiple locations, including Greenstone, Cape Town, Durban, East London, and Botswana. This role works closely with the Facilities team, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure a safe, functional, and well-managed work environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and coordinate Zendesk helpdesk job cards in collaboration with the Facilities Assistant and Facilities Manager.
    • Review reported issues prior to contractor assignment to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Liaise with full-time and ad hoc contractors, facilitating site access and oversight of required work.
    • Monitor progress and ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed to required standards.
    • Initially support the Greenstone office, with gradual expansion to additional locations.
    • Utilize the SmartSM Procurement System to manage sourcing and procurement activities.
    • Generate supplier inquiries and invitations to bid based on approved job cards.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • 1–3 years of relevant experience in facilities coordination, office administration, or similar role.
    • Experience with helpdesk systems (e.g., Zendesk) and procurement platforms is preferred.
    • Basic understanding of vendor management, facilities operations, and office services.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
    • High attention to detail and problem-solving capability
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and administrative systems
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
