    Digital Content Generalist I

    About the Role

    • In this role, you will be helping to provide legal practical guidance and market insight. You will be reviewing documents, undertaking legal research, drafting content and maintaining trackers. The ideal candidate should have a passion for, interest in or experience in the following Practice Areas: Local Government, Public Law, And In house Advisor. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

    Responsibilities

    • Reviewing new and existing content for quality and legal accuracy, and making recommendations for process improvements
    • Monitoring of developments and inputting information to maintain trackers of consultations, cases and dates
    • Drafting practical guidance content (eg FAQs, practice notes, precedents, trackers, checklists, etc)
    • Conducting legal research and liaising with subject matter experts within the Practical Guidance practice area teams
    • Supporting the development and implementation of initiatives to grow and improve the Lexis+ offering

    Requirements

    • Have a degree in Law, or equivalent experience
    • Comfortable working shift hours Monday–Friday, 10 AM–6 PM (June–Oct) and 11 AM–7 PM (Nov–March), SAST. 
    • Demonstrate an eye for detail and a quality oriented focus
    • Be able to demonstrate excellent research and writing skills
    • Have a good understanding of legal issues, procedures and content types
    • Be able to think creatively, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work to strict deadlines
    • Be able to communicate influentially and effectively to a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders
    • Be a natural, innovative problem solver, able to collaborate with your team to resolve issues
    • Have an understanding of, and willingness to use, social media and new technology

    Editor - Analytical

    About the Role 

    • We are looking for a meticulous individual with a keen eye for detail to prepare materials or works/products for publication in print and online formats, according to agreed quality standards and agreed deadlines. All products must be produced within approved budgetary constraints. This role reports to the Manager of Analytical in South Africa.

    Responsibilities 

    • Planning and maintaining detailed content timelines for both print and digital formats, identifying potential bottlenecks, mitigating risks, and communicating deadlines to stakeholders. 
    • Reviewing, copyediting, and styling legal manuscripts to align with house style; conducting spot checks, coordinating quality assurance reviews, and monitoring legislative/case law updates for accuracy. 
    • Overseeing the creation of consolidated indexes, tables of cases, and statutory material; uploading and organizing content in relevant systems, and preparing annual or biannual supplements and cumulative volumes. 
    • Liaising with authors, freelancers, offshore production teams, and other internal collaborators to address editorial queries and keep publications on schedule. 
    • Compiling regular status reports for management, monitoring overall project progress, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. 
    • Identifying areas for workflow improvement, recommending solutions, and implementing best practices to enhance editorial processes and production systems. 
    • When required, perform any of the above or other related functions in respect with the works/products of other departments

    Requirements 

    • Have an excellent command of English language
    • Able to understand budgets and financial reports
    • Be competent in MS Office, especially MS Word
    • Have a keen interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in legal research and documentation will be considered an asset.
    • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI technology and understanding how to integrate these tools into your workflow can significantly enhance your efficiency and accuracy.
    • Able to adapt to changing business demands
    • Able to prioritise multiple projects or tasks such that the agreed publishing schedule is met
    • Have good communication and interpersonal skills, tactfulness and diplomacy
