    Intellectual Property Services Manager

    About the Role

    • Macmillan Education – South Africa is seeking a skilled Intellectual Property Services Manager to join our Regional Publishing Services team, based in Midrand. The incumbent will work closely with other departments to streamline processes and delivery quality services. Key responsibilities include defining service standards, mentoring and developing team members, handling escalations, and implementing best practices to enhance productivity.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Provides leadership and direction to the IP Services Team by creating a team vision and strategy that is aligned to the wider business, guiding and coaching team members, and making informed, timely and clear decisions to support objectives.
    • Manages the team by recruiting top talent, managing performance, providing effective training opportunities and resolving any conflict in a timely and fair manner. 
    • Facilitates communication and collaboration across the wider team by communicating clearly and regularly with the right people, fostering a collaborative environment and building effective relationships.
    • Manages operations effectively and efficiently by managing team resources, delivering projects to scope and mitigating risks that could impact team performance or business goals.

    Experience , Skills & Qualifications

    • Undergraduate degree in publishing studies or other relevant field
    • Management training/qualification (advantageous)
    • At least 4 years’ experience in editorial/publishing department at a publishing house
    • At least 2 years’ experience in a management role
    • Have education sector knowledge (advantageous) 
    • Have experience in plagiarism and permissions clearance, and in project management of same, across a portfolio of subjects
    • Have a working knowledge of contracts and rights management
    • Have advanced computer skills, and a proven ability to use technology to enhance team productivity 
    • Have strong leadership skills
    • Have compelling communication skills
    • Have the ability to coach and mentor others 
    • Have problem-solving and decision-making skills (including data analysis)

    TVET Sales Manager

    About This Role:

    • Macmillan Education – South Africa is seeking an experienced TVET Sales Manager to join our Commercial team, based in Midrand. You will play a strategic role in driving sales growth and strengthening relationships within the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. The Incumbent must be able to lead marketing initiatives, participate in events and foster team development, as well as ensuring seamless administration and compliance with tender processes. 

    Role Responsibilities

    • Drive revenue growth through proactive sales strategies, monitor market trends, and ensure seamless execution of sales and distribution operations.
    • Manage the TVET sales team, work closely with the national sales, marketing, distribution and publishing teams, chair marketing meetings, and coordinate training for sales and customer service teams.
    • Liaise with the Department of Higher Education, handle escalated customer queries, represent the company at PASA TVET committee meetings, maintain key client relationships, and attend industry events.
    • Prepare, manage and review budgets, approve publishing investment, manage high-value customer debt, assist with price adjustments, and participate in group sales meetings.
    • Approve costs for marketing expenses, review marketing content before release, lead webinars and workshops, and oversee the production of promotional materials.
    • Authorize returns, sign tender documents, approve expenses, review customer quotes, and ensure accurate ERP data management.

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications

    • Matric Certificate 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, Finance, or a related field (Advantageous)
    • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in sales, account management, or business development, preferably within the education, publishing, or TVET sector.
    • Experience working with government departments, educational institutions, or regulatory bodies.
    • Strong background in financial management, sales strategy, and customer service.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing key accounts and high-value customer relationships.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite

    Agency and Digital Sales Consultant

    About the Role

    • Macmillan Education South Africa is seeking to appoint an experienced professional to the position as Agency and Digital Sales Consultant. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, advanced computer literacy, exceptional presentation and communication abilities, and the capacity to multitask and manage stressful situations. The ideal candidate will be energetic, dynamic, a team player, and possess strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of the South African education landscape. National travel is required.

    Role Responsibilities:

    • Visits to targeted customers, such as schools, aggregators, trade, and booksellers, aligned with the annual customer calling schedule
    • Market products to customers and secure adoptions of print and digital products nationally
    • Prepare and conduct product presentations 
    • Product training for both internal and external customers
    • Prepare display materials and exhibit at relevant exhibitions and events
    • Prepare product briefs for the Marketing department for both Agency and Digital Marketing campaigns.
    • Assist with maintaining Agency relationships, submission opportunities and reports
    • Build strong relationships and offer customer support 

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

    • Matric Certificate 
    • Qualification in Education, Sales or Information & Technology will be advantageous
    • 3 years of sales experience. Advanced computer literacy skills. Experience in the publishing industry is advantageous.
    • Good understanding of the education sector, including any teaching experience is advantageous
