    Engineer Electrical

    Purpose of the position

    • Implement optimal asset management strategy to achieve safe and reliable plant operation

    Job Specific Experience

    • 5 years experience as an Electrical Technician or better in a heavy industry environment
    • Experience in a supervisory position
    • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry will be beneficial

    Qualifications & Expertise

    • A BSc Electrical Engineering Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering (ND or HND)
    • Government Certificate of Competency is advantageous

    Functional Outputs

    • Lead maintenance team
    • Responsible for legal compliance
    • Execution and compliance of planned maintenance in the section
    • Deployment of and compliance with Mondi Technical Standards
    • Maintain updated equipment long term plan and risk register
    • Optimise maintenance strategies on equipment/process level
    • Continuous improvement of electrical systems
    • Root cause failure analysis and closeout
    • Compile and manage annual budget
    • Set goals and achieve Maintenance KPIs
    • Manage SAP maintenance system and compliance to business processes
    • Short term planning as well as planning for the annual shut

    • Must have track record of shutdown and project management
    • Understanding of maintenance principals and strategies is essential
    • Broad electrical experience in the following areas: Drives, PLC, General electrical systems

    Specialist Reward

    Job Purpose

    • The Reward Specialist is responsible for providing end-to-end analytical, researched, and administrative support on all key touch points within the remuneration and benefits portfolio.


    • Grade 12
    • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, Business Psychology, or other related field (NQF Level 6)

    Job Experience

    • 3 - 5 years related remuneration experience
    • Proficient in HR technologies including experience in HRIS and payroll system
    • Experience as and HR Analyst advantageous

    Licences / Mandatory Training

    • Valid drivers licence (Code EB)
    • SARA Registration (Advantageous)
    • GRP advantageous

    Key Performance Areas

    • Administration of all MSA Execs and Human Resources employees and assist in the management of expatriate appointments
    • Processing of the Bonus Share Incentive Scheme and liaising with the Trust to ensure alignment on governance principles
    • Assist with management on Mondi pensions (model updates).
    • Communication and management of stakeholders in relation to 3rd party vendors with regards to benefits and payments
    • Assist in performing annual market survey submissions and external benchmarks
    • Administration and processing of the annual increase for bargaining and non – bargaining unit employees
    • Administration and processing of the annual performance incentive scheme and Shop floor performance bonus
    • Ensure all reward tools are current (updating estimate calculators in line with the tax year update, creating purchase requisitions)

    • Accurate and timely month-end payroll processing

    Breeder STE

    Purpose of the position:

    • Manage tree breeding operations by maintaining genetic diversity and increasing genetic gains for growth, wood quality, biotic, and abiotic tolerance in breeding and commercial germplasm. 



    • Senior Certificate


    • BSc: Genetics / Plant Science (Required) 
    • MSc/PhD: Genetics / Plant Breeding / Molecular breeding (Advantageous) 


    • 3 years in managing a breeding programme with commercial objectives 
    • 5 years in managing an operational research team 


    • Provide management leadership for the tree breeding team, including contractor staff.
    • Provide technical direction on all breeding operations (trial establishment, selections, deployment and conservation). 
    • Ensure project management, planning and execution within allocated resources. 
    • Ensure strict adherence to company SHEQ, governance and compliance guidelines in the breeding operations. 
    • Perform data analysis, data interpretation of genetic and selection parameters with sufficient level intuitive plant breeding acumen. 
    • Recommends germplasm for commercial deployment and play a leading role in their site-matching commercial deployment. 
    • Perform generational turnover of the main breeding populations of bred species, including their conservation 


    • Generate sustainable hybrid breeding populations for the clonal breeding program, including their conservation requirements.
    • Construct and formulate the field team’s annual plan of tree breeding operations 
    • Plan and review annual budget and Capex requirements. 
    • Perform strategic and technical collaboration with internal research partners Mondi forest operations and  other Mondi technical functions.
    • Perform strategic and technical collaboration with external research partners such as TPCP/FABI (pest and diseases), CAMCORE/ICFR (breeding and enabling technologies), MG/EPPI (molecular breeding and enabling technologies) and CREATION BREEDING (tree breeding database).


    • Microsoft Office 
    • Ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels (Technical and Scientific reporting)
    • Medium level proficiency of Mixed Models Analysis software platform (R, ASReml, SAS, GenSTAT) 
    • Be able to work without direct supervision in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment. 
    • To continuously produce improved germplasm for commercial deployment in the shortest breeding cycle possible.
    • Understanding the genetic variation in tree species to facilitate the improvement of important traits such as growth, stem form, wood quality, P&D tolerance, adaptability and resilience.
    • To continuously test and validate genotypes across diverse land types and leverage internal or  external collaboration for effective benchmarking and the rapid adoption and assimilation of relevant  technologies.
    • To continuously improve the testing, phenotyping, genotyping and propagation methods to shorten the breeding cycle to maximise gains per unit time and cost.
