    Shift Supervisor

    Job Advert Summary    

    • Controls the cement, slag and despatch plants operation during their shift in a cost-effective and safe manner. Anticipates and solves problems on shift and reports unresolved problems to the Foreperson and to the incoming shift. Runs the shift Invocom and aims to achieve the shift targets. Manages the process operators and operator support functions in their shift. Ensures that shift production figures are recorded accurately and timeously.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Production control

    • Ensure Operator Logs are accurately completed by operators and mobile equipment. Operators. Compile End of shift report, accurately and comprehensively completed, including: Target / Actual / Variance (including down time and outstanding work orders) as well as proper action planning during the shift.  Ensure production data is being used for Visual Management in all areas in the plant.

    Production review

    • Facilitate start of shift production INVOCOM and provide guidance where necessary. Conduct Short Interval Control with operators

    Process Optimisation

    • Action recommendations from Plant Foreman.  Conduct preliminary diagnostic during process upsets.  Provide input into efficiency and productivity improvement initiatives

    Equipment condition monitoring

    • Ensure ongoing and systematic 1st line equipment surveillance and condition monitoring

    Raw Material handling and processing

    • Issue work instructions to Raw Material reclamation teams.

    Stock management

    • Conduct end of shift assessment of raw material and work-in-progress material.

    Quality Management

    • Ensure adherence to material mixing instructions. Escalate quality deviations to Plant foreman.

    Governance

    • Comply with departmental Joint Audit Protocols. Comply with PPC Operating Best Practices.

    Risk Management

    • Comply with safety, health and environmental procedures. Assist with investigations of incident & accidents and implement required corrective action. Comply with ISO 9001 system requirements.

    Mobile Equipment Operator

    Job Advert Summary    

    • To assist blending and milling teams during plant operation on shifts in a cost effective and safe manner by conditioning monitoring their assigned field plant units
    • Timeously reports identified field problems to the shift supervisor and executing work instructions given by the shift supervisor.
    • Inspects their operational area and ensures good housekeeping and safe running of plant units and the safety of other people working in their area of durisdiction.
    • Operates the various pieces of equipment such as Front End Loader, Forklift and Sweeper.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Production control

    • Assist Operator with completion of shift log, accurately and comprehensively completed, including: Target / Actual / Variance (including down time and outstanding work orders) as well as proper action planning during the shift to achieve production targets. Operate Packer, Baumer, and Slag Dryer during slag drying and adjust conveyor routes during milling. Conduct housekeeping as required and during periods of low demand (mill and blending)

    Production review

    • Assist with the gathering of relevant production data, and preparation for start of shift production INVOCOM. Participate in Short Interval Control with operator & supervisor. 
    • Be able to facilitate INVOCOMS

    Process Optimisation

    • Perform trouble shooting in the entire plant. Conduct preliminary diagnostic during process upsets. Liaise with Operator on resolution of mechanical, electrical and operational issues. Action instructions during efficiency and productivity improvement initiatives.

    Plant and equipment

    • Conduct pre-start checks on plant and equipment before use. Conduct ongoing and systematic 1st line equipment surveillance and condition monitoring. Conduct temp scanning as and when directed. Clear chokes and other plant interruptions.

    Material Handling and processing

    • Operate Mobile Equipment as required (FEL (Front End Loader); Bobcat; Fork-lift, Sweeper). Operate all plant equipment from field switches. Maintain coal feed bin level. Direct operations during bulk offloading. Direct truck drivers during tanker offloading at blending silos and mill slag silos. Position trucks for offloading. Action instructions given by Supervisor and Operator.

    Quality management

    • Escalate quality issues or potential issues that my effect product quality. 
    • Governance - Comply with departmental Joint Audit Protocols. Comply with PPC Operating Best Practices 
    • Blending plant check batching done correctly hourly and milling assist with doing Blaine test 
    • Blending assist with all SABS/PS daily checks when plant produces and follow correct sampling practices 
    • Milling use sieve when loading slag tankers all the time

    Risk Management

    • Comply with safety, health and environmental procedures and standards. Assist with investigations of incident & accidents and implement required corrective action. Escalate non-conformances to supervisor 
    • Participate in all PPC safety initiatives

    Loco Driver
