    Pet food product development Intern

    Job Description    
    RCL FOODS is seeking to employ a Pet food product development Intern to provide hands on support in terms of the organization around trials, analysis and data capturing for all projects. The successful incumbent will also provide an admin execution function. This position will be based in Randfontein and report into the R&D Executive.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum: BSc degree or Food Technology/ Biotech. Diploma or similar (or studying towards degree)
    • Ideal: BSc Animal Science degree

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Writing of artwork brief, running trials, testing shelf life samples and compiling reports. 
    • Provide a strong administrative role including: master data and project workflow management, specifications and formulation verification, and carrying through to approval and capturing on the system.
    • Organizational functions include: artwork process management and validation, product trial arrangements, capturing trial information, minute taking, report compiling and circulation plus arranging sample materials for trials and samples as marketing require.
    • Assist with product optimization.

    Area Marketer

    As an Area Marketer, you will be required to be an effective marketer to area customers by maintaining regular contact and providing relevant solutions based on a clear understanding of the customers’ business, the macro environment, and Vector products.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric
    • Marketing and sales degree or diploma (preferable)
    • Valid Code EB drivers’ license.
    • 1 to 2 years of direct selling experience.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Customer Engagement

    • Where not defined, establish an effective route plan to achieve maximum call rate efficiencies each day for the quarter.
    • Conduct research, preparation, and planning to achieve the relevant objectives for both Vector and the customer. This includes:
    • Analysis of the customer’s micro (business objectives, operational capacity, storage facilities, wastage, etc) and macro environment (trends, competitors, economic climate, etc).
    • Analysis of Vector products and capabilities so that the right solutions can be matched to the gaps or opportunities found in the customer analysis.
    • Setting SMART call objectives for each customer (at least 2 per call).
    • Preparation to handle potential objections.
    • Preparation of questions to gain insight and lead the customer to the right solution
    • Securing the necessary resources to demonstrate to the customer the relevant solution (e.g. products needed for demonstrations, financial tools, product brochures, etc.)
    • Based on the above analysis, put together a quarterly planner that shows potential revenue and new line listings, by customers, to deliver against set targets. Where relevant use the IT system to assist in planning quarterly.
    • Incall, follow up on previously sold solutions, and present new opportunities based on real insight from the research and analysis done.
    • Take orders of new line listings and other relevant solution products.
    • Launch new products to assigned customers.
    • Conduct planned promotions with assigned customers.

    Feedback:

    • Provide quality feedback to the supply chain and other relevant functions when required as well as when there is pertinent information (i.e. competitor activity).

    • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning, prioritizing, and self-development.
    • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.

    • Maintain a basic appreciation and awareness of employee relations climate and ensure corrective action is taken where required in line with relevant legislation and company policy.

    Shift Foreman: Packing

    RCL FOODS is searching for an experienced Shift Foreman to join our Sugar manufacturing team that is based in Malelane, Mpumalanga. This role will report to Packing Operations Manager. The purpose of this role is to lead and manage a team within the Packaging plant to deliver set production targets within the required SHERQ standards. 

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Minimum of 3 years experience at the Supervisory level.
    • Relevant Tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.
    • Trade-tested Artisan with at least N2 will be an added advantage.
    • Experience within a Packing production environment.
    • Computer Literacy.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Good decision-making ability.
    • Troubleshooting ability.
    • Good SAP knowledge.
    • Incumbents must be prepared to work shifts.

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Execution of the production plan
    • Communicate with the mill superintendent on sugar supply or quality issues.
    • Ensure that NCRs are generated for all rejected material and material is returned to the paper store together with the NCR within 24 hrs.
    • Troubleshooting of plant failure to identify correct resources required. 
    • Reporting plant stoppages and lost opportunities.
    • Contribute to and participate in continuous improvement projects focused on optimizing productivity, increasing efficiency, and reducing downtime.
    • Monitoring productivity and performance and, investigating, identifying, and implementing corrective actions/ measures.
    • Responsible for the recruitment and management of staff.
    • Handling disciplinary hearings.
    • Responsible for the development of subordinates.
    • Responsible for updating time and attendance on SAP.
    • Monitoring material consumption and labor utilization against budgetary provisions.
    • Complete shift report and report all production deviations.
    • Ensure that quality, food safety, SHE standards, and housekeeping are met on designated shifts.
    • Conduct incident investigations.
    • Responsible for the enforcement of all health and safety procedures on designated shifts.
    • Coordinate all maintenance activities in collaboration with the Maintenance Engineer and Foreman, including the call out of standby personnel, while on shift
