Role Summary:

This role would be focused around a dedicated bug squashing position where you will be responsible for receiving feedback from the support team on faults and issues logged by clients. The role will require someone who is able to read code and pick up issues and either refer this to the Dev team or have the ability to solve the problems themselves.
The tech stack is mainly around backend Microsoft stack but occasional requires some input for frontend tech.

Cloud Engineer
Recruit Digital is currently recruiting for a talented Mid-Level Cloud  Engineer for our Cape Town location. Reporting to the Dev Manager, you will have strong skills to lead DevOps for the company across various projects and software tracks.

Function

• Must be willing and able to form part of the development and code part of the solution.
• Implementation, improvement and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for our cloud services allowing developers to push their changes easily with predictability
• Platform-as-a-service, Software-as-a-service and Infrastructure-as-a-service management
• Design implement, manage and orchestrate container clusters
• Assist with Application deployments to various Azure and GCP locations.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues
•  Write process & technical documentation
• Work with CTO, SSA and Dev Manager to understand priorities and roadmap
• Share your knowledge and ensure the security, operability, quality, and scalability of our solutions
• Be available to assist and address critical downtime Skills
• Minimum 5 years’ hands-on Development and DevOps experience
• Working experience with Cloud Infrastructure (Azure, Google Cloud or AWS) – we currently use Azure and GCP
• Minimum one-year development experience with Kubernetes on a large scale Production Environment
• Experience with developing continuous/rapid release engineering (CI/CD) - Azure and circleci
• Experience implementing secure and highly available distributed systems/microservices
• Experience in implementing automated deployment tools and techniques
• Experience with containers, microservice architectures and orchestration frameworks
• Experience in supporting, maintaining and monitoring of DevOps related environments
• Experience in managing Linux & Windows Infrastructure
• Knowledge of the following languages: YAML, PowerShell, C#, Javascript ES6/ES7, Angular, Typescript, C# .Net
• Ability & desire to research new tools, technologies and best practices

Qualifications:

•  Completed Degree in Computer Science, equivalent qualification and / or relevant experience
• Comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle
• Experience in defining Devops within the SDLC
• A high level of attention to detail and great organisational abilities are a prerequisite to succeeding in this role

The Role

You will work closely with relevant business units to identify opportunities for driving meaningful business results through ML solutions, and then work with stakeholders to prioritize projects for roadmap inclusion.To execute on your roadmap you will work hand in hand with a team of dedicated data scientists, data engineers and machine learning engineers, aiming to deliver projects reliably against projected roadmap timelines (set and communicated to stakeholders quarterly by you). You will also be responsible for defining and reporting on the success metrics of the projects on your roadmap. Success in this role means being able to effectively move the needle of your vertical’s “North Star” metric through consistent execution of machine learning projects. It also means becoming an effective evangelist of machine learning within the business vertical you serve; helping stakeholders understand the capabilities and potential value of ML as well as its limitations.

The Requirements

• A strong record in delivering machine learning and/or data products including defining ML problems, identifying data strategy, building ML MVP and scaling/productizing a prototype to full-scale production.
• Experience leading and executing cross functional projects. Familiarity and proficiency with agile methods and tools to support project management in a timeline sensitive environment.
• High accountability when it comes to meeting deadlines and ship dates, and ability to lead numerous projects simultaneously under time constraints.
• A solid understanding of ML and engineering fundamentals, allowing you to understand and earn the respect of experienced engineers and data scientists.
• Enjoy making difficult things happen, leading the way in doing things for the first time, changing current ways of working and solving the many challenges along the way.
• Ability to facilitate thoughtful and constructive conversations within and outside the team and an ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
• Preferably, a degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics (or other similar quantitative fields).
